My feelings on love incense arc pre-620:
- i really have so much mixed positive and negative feelings about this arc
- i just know NOTHING will come out of it, i just know. tsukuyo doesnt even want to ask for anything more :<
- OMG WTF *voice drop to a whisper* sorachi changed both gintoki and tsukuyo’s text in the official volume
- omg..omg.. they both said the same thing… gintoki said, “inhaling some idiot’s kiseru smoke right now is already enough for me” and tsuki said, “just being with u like this is enough to make me happy” I CANT HOLD THIS
- …i’m ok with what gintsuki already has i am not asking for more
My feelings on love incense arc post-620:
- WHYYYYYYYYYYYY
- WHY U GIVING ME HOPE I DIDNT ASK FOR, SORACHI
- I HATE!
- NOT OK
- sorachi could just have had her support gintoki on the battlefield as a friend. instead, he drew 10 whole pages talking about her love for gintoki, maintaining her position as the MOST VIABLE LOVE INTEREST
- Which other character has gotten this kind of continual focus on their romantic love for GINTOKI???? NOBODY
My feelings on reading 624:
Honestly i cannot believe – i just cannot believe. She is the strongest fighter in yoshiwara. She is highly trained in combat. But then sorachi, he had her trip over something so stupid. A FCKING ALCOHOL BOTTLE WTF IT’S SO CONVENIENT and what’s more, he had her wandering around at night in the place where gintoki was already sleeping. It just makes no sense whatsoever. I’m sorry but the scene feels so forced. It was as if sorachi had an irresistable urge to draw gintsuku so he did it regardless of how stupidly inappropriate it was to incorporate tsukuyo out of nowhere. It is so obvious that he just wanted to draw gintsuki for the heck of it and i’m screaminggggggg. I cannot believe this
post-620+624, the message/feeling im getting is:
- “here is a good woman who loves you whole-heartedly, gintoki. she is likely to love you forever.”
- “no matter what you do, gintoki, please do not hurt this wonderful woman.”

Even though I initially thought that UT was calling Othello out because Othello had possibly proved in the past to have the same misguided curiosity towards humans (which is what the very original idea of UT’s BD project was initially), now I wonder if this wouldn’t rather be a Shakespeare reference?
For those who don’t know, the tragedy Othello is about a Moorish man living in Venice who’s tricked into believing that his wife is having an affair with his Lieutenant. So he kills her out of jealousy, before realizing the truth and killing himself as a result.
So if Othello in Kuroverse is supposed to be a reference to this tragedy, that’d mean our boy here became a Shinigami because he killed his wife.
Meanwhile, if we’re considering that UT’s strong attachment to the Phantomhive family roots from the possibility that he had strong feelings for Claudia

and that ultimately he wants them all back because…
…then I’m wondering if this isn’t what UT is referring to when he’s calling Othello out, as in, “I’m doing this out of love and you should be the last one to criticize me on the subject considering your own circumstances.”
Since some readers often have the wrong timeline in mind though, please remember that UT killed himself way before Claudia was even born and he met her after he deserted the Shinigamis, it’s not like he became a Shinigami because she died. So it’d go like this when it comes to Othello vs UT:
TL;DR
