So Mutsuki was taking Rc suppressants before he would go to Dr. Shiba so his astronomically high Rc cell count wouldn’t show up on the tests?
The way I currently interpret this, there are two-ish possibilities?
either Mutsuki indeed took Rc suppressants before the tests so that Shiba wouldn’t notice how elevated their RC cells rates truly were
or they’re somehow suppressing them by will (I know it seems impossible but ??) or making them untraceable as @kingkishou stated, because they hate ghouls so much that they try to pretend by any means they can’t be associated to them (and thus have high RC rates)
In any case the kagune looks… strained…
but all I can link back to what’s shown here is what Kimi said a few chapters ago…
If the eyeball patterns on Mutsuki’s kagune look so strained, maybe the RC cells are generally clustering too importantly inside Mutsuki’s body and somehow, even if there is no kagune, that’s not traceable by the blood tests hence the low rate?
Tbh at this point I’m going to consider important clustering of RC cells even without kagune formation (if that’s possible? which is the thing I’m not sure of) because even mini clustering in kakuhou and RC pathways might work as one possibility for a wrong count result with blood tests, that would make Mutsuki’s only reach 3.
The problem is that 3 is still extremely low as a count, so I still think we should consider Mutsuki suppressing/controlling their RC cells rates by sheer force of will somehow because…
we had hints before that kagune/kakuja (made from RC cells) could be sentient…
No matter how you look at it, this last page is either a hint that Mutsuki refuses to admit something about themselves or it’s a hint that’s important to understanding ghoul biology, or it’s both.
Hi Midnight-chan! And yes, I agree. I said awhile ago that if Mutsuki represents the people Kaneki knows personally whom he hurt, Aura represents the general population who don’t know Kaneki personally, but have had their loved ones suffer as a result.
He’s also not wrong here:
It’s unrealistic to expect the majority of Tokyo to just kiss and make up and be fine with Kaneki being dragged out of Dragon and going off to live with his wife and baby after he took away their spouses and babies. It’s not going to happen. If they don’t address this, they’re setting the stage for future disaster. Mutsuki and Aura are calling everyone out on their delusions.
Also, it’s not surprising to me that Mutsuki is full “you abandoned me I don’t care about you” with Urie and Saiko. It’s the same attitude he has with Kaneki. People he loved abandoned him when he needed them. It’s a parallel to Takizawa, too, grabbing Akira by the throat.
I really think they need to save both of them, to be honest. Both Aura, and Mutsuki. Hsiao and Higemaru want to save Aura. What I would love to have in the end is a version of Urie’s happy Qs family–without Shirazu, and notably also without Sasaki.
Because while Aura’s posing the right questions, he’s wrong about the answer. The answer isn’t to keep fighting and making more victims. it’s to move on. You don’t have to be buddy-buddy, or kiss and make up with ghouls. That would be beautiful and wonderful for the people who can do it, but it’s not realistic for everyone.
So it sounds like Mutsuki was working so hard to repress his RC cells that he managed to localize them in a place that Dr. Shiba was unable to trace. That’s a whole other level of kagune manipulation.
Hi Anon! *hugs* It’s okay hon’, to be completely honest it will surely take a few days, but we’ll gradually feel better. Watch out for the English translation, it might make the whole chapter even more unsettling.
As for the rest of your ask, it’s funny though, because after looking at the raws twice myself, the first thought that came flying through my mind was :
if UT is the guy who brought real!Ciel back so that our!Ciel would have to remember all of this, I will kill him myself no matter if he’s my favorite character
That was under the emotion though because be it the Undertaker, Ann, Frances, Alexis or Scotland Yard, unfortunately the ones who attacked the manor on December 14th made sure that no one would be able to help the twins.
To be completely honest, I’m sure people like Frances or UT tried their best. However, remember that the house burnt and that there wasn’t much left of the bodies which means that…
…maybe even the adults at some point resigned during that one month because they had no lead to follow.
In UT’s specific case, it’s not because he is a Shinigami and he can teleport that he could have found them easily. In fact, UT only learnt about what happened to the twins recently, during the Campania arc…
…and he had no death list either, because he was a deserter so it’s really not his fault. As much as it hurts to admit it, the twins
Last point, it’s something I have said before but, for now I am pretty sure that we will get another flashback about what happened on December 14th, with Tanaka’s memories this time. Maybe then we’ll see what was done to investigate and find the twins.
Please don’t be too mad at UT and try to have a nice day Anon. :3
Hi Anon! No, there is no “narrator”, we follow our!Ciel’s memories indeed but he isn’t telling them out loud in the story. This is still him right now, in present time:
And I wouldn’t be surprised if he were on the brink of another PTSD episode.
It’s possible that our!Ciel will decide to share what happened to him and his brother during that one month with some people close to him one day, but it’s not going to be right now because his trauma is still too heavy to be discussed.
I hope it answers your question, please have a nice day Anon. :3
Hello! Ah well, no offense Anon but you’re addressing two separate subjects. 🙂
First of all, even if we are several to have caught on in advance about what happens at the end of ch135 because of previous hints, even if some of us were expecting it, even if you could argue child abuse is a theme of Kuroshitsuji, it’s normal that not every Kuro reader had guessed that this was one part of the abuse the twins endured for one month.
So please try to understand that this chapter can be extremely upsetting and that it is why readers’ reactions to it are widely different. I was expecting it myself (although not for this month I’ll give you that) but Yana really succeeded in creating a horrific scene, both in symbolism and writing, which gave even someone like me (who reads series like Berserk or Killing Stalking) a heartache, and currently I’m not sure of how I’ll fare with the official English translation.
However, I agree that there is no need to be pissed at Yana. Not everyone has to agree, it’s my personal opinion, but I find she did an absolutely amazing job with this chapter and I realized that in how much I hated and was repulsed by it.
In fact I believe it takes a lot of skills to be able to depict something so horrible as realistically as possible, to the point of even emotionally unsettling readers who knew it was coming and she managed that even through symbolism. So people who are pissed at how harsh/unecessary/too dark it was have the right to feel that way but, for me, they are in fact proving that Sensei nailed the whole point of her chapter.
Anyway Anon, no need to get angry over this, you cannot tell people what to do anyway, so just try to enjoy the content you agree with. :3 Please have a nice day!
Hi Anon and thanks ❤ I don’t remember how long it took me to get used to Killing Stalking or to what happened to Casca in Berserk, but I’m sure I will be okay eventually. 🙂
Anyway, so yes, Kuroshitsuji is indeed a story of a dark genre. It’s true s1 of the anime might have given you the feeling that it was not the darkest thing of the genre, but the manga is on another scale entirely and even the more recent anime adaptations have issues recreating a similar atmosphere in my opinion.
Since you mentioned the subject though, the use of comic relief is generally hiding something, even if it feels good sometimes to have comic relief when you get chapters like this month’s. So in other words, if you ever want to start Kuroshitsuji, you should definitely read the manga. 😉
Thanks again for passing by and for the nice words! Have a nice day Anon. ^3^
Rc cells are capable of rapidly dividing to expand their numbers- either to regenerate injured flesh or to form a kagune. Example: Eto’s kakuja is HUGE but she doesnt have the room to carry that many Rc cells inside her to make such a volume. So that means the stores of Rc cells in her kakuhou all divide to expand the population and create enough cells to make her kakuja form. It’s like how a single cancer cell can keep dividing to form a tumour except in this case its Rc cells all dividing to form a kagune mass.
Mutsuki must be starting that process from an EXTREMELY low number to start with; 3 parts per volume rather than 100s-1000s parts per volume.
Is it like
Mutsuki’s original RC cells (low amount ‘a’)—> FAST multiplication—> Large amont of RC cells X
And
Amon’s original RC cells (large amount ‘b’>‘a’ )—> multiply —> Large amont of RC cells X
I think Kuro chapter 135 is officially the day a large majority of fans are going to become way more appreciative of Sebastian’s character, considering how he’s going to slaughter all these horrible people.
interesting that you would try to make this about sebastian… i would’ve said that a large number of “fans” would finally wuit for good
@gregviolets Oh I’m making it about Sebastian alright because, even if Sebastian is a literal demon and I wish the contract between them had never happened, I’m not blind enough to pretend I don’t know that our!Ciel would have ended like his brother
without him.
I’m sure you don’t need me to be more explicit about what kind of horrible abuse these two ten year old children were forced to endure because of crazy adults, so I regret nothing when I say I’m glad Sebastian slaughtered them all.
It’s like the circus arc: I’m sorry if somehow this comes as a shock to anyone, but I never sympathized with Kelvin or anyone from Joker’s party.
Children are supposed to be joyful and innocent. So yeah, I’ll praise even an actual demon if he brought a well-deserved punishment onto those who dared traumatized children for life.
Aww Anon-chan… I’m so sorry, really, but no, I’m afraid it really happened.
We were warned, years before, because of a discussion between Kelvin and another man in ch32…
Besides, Ciel used to react rather strongly to anyone randomly touching him. It’s still something he doesn’t particularly like, unless he knows and more or less trusts the person, but this comes from what he lived through as well.
I won’t tell you to look at the pages again, but I noticed that a few adults were already quite busy enjoying themselves when the buyer arrived with the twins, which means that most of them were already in the mood.
Finally, the symbolism of the moths overwhelming and engulfing the twins when the moths also represent all the adults’ eyes staring at them a page before is rather telling, besides what Yana showed of the twins themselves in these last pages.
I’m sorry Anon, really I wish myself that this wouldn’t be true and I’m a little sick having to write an answer on the subject, but there is no ignoring it. ://
Please try to have a nice day, okay Anon? :3
Aww… Poor Anon-chan… I haven’t felt that upset in a long time myself but it’s not “all of the sudden”, I’m so sorry, even if I can understand why you have this impression.
Unfortunately, none of what happened or is going to happen to the twins in the next flashback chapters ever since they were abducted is new. So yeah, I was definitely expecting that to happen, because it was implied before (even if the fact it was by a sea of adults is amplifying the visceral horror I feel ten times), but to be honest I was rather expecting it for next month instead of one week before Christmas…
Maybe the reason you have the feeling Kuro got dark “all of the sudden” is because Yana-sensei made sure to describe their childhood flashback before that horrible event as a complete contrast to what started in ch135.
That’s why you have the feeling it happened so suddenly (despite the content not being anything really knew), because we had 3 months of happy and perfect family time depicted before the attack of December 14th rang the beginning of Hell.
One day is all it took to shatter ten years of happiness. ;_;
We can criticize Yana for the weird pacing, but she knows what she’s about in other aspects of storytelling.
Please have a nice day Anon and watch out for when the official English translation is released. :3
Guys, as I said, we were several readers to have caught on about what happens at the end of ch135 because of hints in ch32 (I just didn’t expect it to happen this month tbh), so this part in itself was horrible and upsetting, but not unexpected.
I think the worst for me though is to realize that Yana gave a lot of symbolic foreshadowing and always was implying something about this chapter whenever Ciel was having a PTSD episode and I didn’t see that coming, even if I probably should have.
His breakdown during the circus arc we already know what it’s going to refer to in two chapters, but remember when he had a breakdown during the green witch arc?
This was the outfit that his mind used the imagery of when our!Ciel was angsting and confronting “his brother” (the figure of his brother actually representing survivor’s guilt, because our!Ciel sees his brother’s death as something he’s guilty of) until Seb woke him up.
This too, from what happens last in the chapter…
it’s rather slightly reminiscent, don’t you think?
Even Ciel wearing earrings is something that is to link back to this chapter. Initially I thought maybe he had pierced his ears when he became Earl Phantomhive because his father used to have similar earrings but actually…
…it’s all about 4 years ago. :///
By now, we should be used to Yana and her love for foreshadowing but this time it really was an arrow right in the kokoro for me… ;_;
