I noticed that the nuns in chapter 135 looks almost almost almost identical to a lady that assists Viscount of Druitt when he tries to sell Ciel at the underground auction. Like, the corset, the skirt-thing, the mask and such. I mean it could be a coincidence, it is such a tiny detail. But… that mask, man. It looks pretty much identical to me. Idk, everyone wore masks in there, it just seems so eerily similar. :’D have a lovely Sunday!

Hi Anon and very good observation 😀

I haven’t reread the first volumes in a while, but it looks familiar indeed even if it’s not particularly surprising that it does, since it’s been theorized before that, after the JTR & Campania arcs, Druitt might have (had) ties to other organizations from the underworld. :))

I mean, at this point I hope no Kuro reader thinks he’s just a beautiful dude who’s stupid and often at the wrong place at the wrong time, especially since Sensei’s usual comic relief moments generally hide some truth. xD

To this day though, personally I still don’t know what to make of him and of any possible link to the cult that abused the twins 4 years ago, as well as to the blue sect (since it’s yet another scientific organization and his nephew is involved).
I think the chances are far from 0 that he might be or might have been involved, it’s just that he is lucky enough to have avoided retribution all this time.

Other great bloggers wrote very interesting posts on the subject too, especially on the matter of his character being inspired from a man named Aleister Crowley, so if you haven’t read them please check out:

Thanks for sharing Anon, it was a great observation! :3

For now though, I can’t decide whether it was just Sensei reusing an old design for this mask (especially since it’s one of the early volumes of the series) or if Druitt really had some ties to that cult of 4 years ago.
In my opinion both are possible, especially considering Druitt’s general involvement with shady organizations so far, and maybe he just wasn’t around that one month the twins were bought and prepared for the sacrifice (like Kelvin). I certainly wouldn’t put it past him in any case.

Thanks again for sharing this cool detail and have a lovely week as well Anon! ^3^

Baby Symbolism

hamliet:

If I may, I think the panel that’s freaking everyone out does indeed look like a fetus, but it’s probably symbolism.

image

It shows us what’s at stake here. The 72 hour grace period is up. It’s now or never, and Touka’s child’s future is on the line. If she doesn’t dig Kaneki up now, her child will have no future. (If she doesn’t decide to fight for ghouls it won’t either).

But in the next panel the creature attacking Touka is stopped by Kaneki’s other children. The Quinxes.

image

The children are the ones at stake here. They always have been. The Oggai were slaughtered. The Qs are being exploited. The baby is about to be killed. But an alliance can save their future and create a better one, for the sake of the kids. And the kids have to break away from the old system and fight for a future too (hence why I still think the Qs need to leave the CCG in Judgment).

And it’s also important to note Kaneki’s taking responsibility last chapter. Touka did not save him by digging him out and I would like the magical healing vagina idea to go out of fashion. Kaneki’s acceptance of himself last chapter (which mirrors Mutsuki’s acceptance of himself earlier), should he decide to act on it (and Judgment being up next suggests he will), saved him. Physically saving one isn’t the same as emotionally saving someone, but it’s part of it–Kaneki is saving himself emotionally and mentally, but Touka is giving him the freedom to do so; it’s a 2-way street. Kaneki acknowledged the wrong that had been done and needs to seek to change that. Touka needs to seek to change the world for the sake of her kid (and I believe she will too).

dreamofcentipedes:

To add to the discourse of this brutal scene:

image

Arata and Hikari’s ring caught on Kaneki’s severed arm serves as a sharp reminder to Touka of her parents’ fates. :re is about breaking free from your tragic heritage, but for a brief moment Touka thought that it was impossible to break the birdcage and that the tragedy of her parents had been repeated all over again. Thank goodness she kept on trying anyway! That determination in the face of seeming certain tragedy is how the series suggests we carve the path to brighter futures.

Similarly, the scene is reminiscent of:

image

Touka always finds herself haunted by rings. Just as Mado’s ring linked to her parents’ ring in her mind and made her realise that she was inflicting the same tragedies that made her life so miserable, seeing the ring on Kaneki’s arm made her believe she was stuck in the tragedy – and that it was her fault, in being unable to save him. Especially since Kaneki said he’d be thinking of her every time he saw it. Yowch.

image

No wonder this speech-bubble cracking scream. The only other time I recall this technique being used is when Kaneki found out what he did as Dragon. Both of them are suffering so much right now, in this final gauntlet before the peaceful avenue presents itself.

is Sui a girl or boy name?

Hi Anon! Do you mean in regards to Sensei or my tag for Kaneki & Touka’s baby?

Anyway, whatever you meant, according to Google it’s a unisex name, which is why I like it so much because it fits for boys and girls, especially since that baby is supposed to be born…

on the same day as Sensei! :))

I hope it answers your question, have a nice day!

Do you think we’ll see Undertaker talking to any Midford? Edward or Elizabeth maybe? Or their mom?

hitsugikuro:

Sorry for the delayed response to this!  My internet’s been fritzing out a bit and I just got a stable connection back. ^^;

And gosh, I hope so.  It’s one of the major things I’m looking forward to if Yana-sensei is intending to include it in some later chapters.  I kinda doubt Lizzy or Edward would have much of a reaction to encountering him, but it’s possible (and I kind of suspect) that Yana’s saving him encountering Frances because when she does… it would be giving too much information away. ; )

You are making me willing to watch that anime Hakata Tonkoutsu Ramen XD I think the most difficult part would be to remember the name of it.

Ahhh yessss! 😀 Honestly though, I couldn’t remember the name of it either at first, but once you watch the anime, the name sticks especially once when you understand what it is about. xD

Maybe just remember the two main characters’ name instead? They’re Lin and Banba 🙂 Should be easy enough!

Thanks for being willing to give it a try, Anon, I hope you’ll like it! ^_^

Have a nice dayyy!

Do you reckon the mysterious Mikasa girl from the first chapter could possibly be Kiyomi considering she’d probably look a lot like Mikasa when she was younger and has a scarf and that the Eren she was talking to in that memory was Eren Kruger?

Hi Anon! Well, I’m aware it’s a theory that’s going around, best version of it that I read was by @sweetreikuri, but to be honest I don’t know how likely it is to be what happened. :/

In the first place, my biggest issue (or rather, the reason I’m so very curious) with the very first pages is that…

image

Eren hadn’t received the titan injection yet at the time of his dream, since it’s before the fall of Wall Maria, so no matter whose memories they are, I’m just wondering how it’s even possible for him to have dreamt about something like that in the first place.

It’s different from Kruger’s very awkward scene…

image

…because, even though Kruger was speaking about the future (something that hadn’t happened yet), at least he already had that connection to the Attacking Titan at the time.

Eren though, our main character, was just… born from Grisha who held the power of the Attacking Titan back when he had this dream, so at least the loop theory explains how he could have had such a dream while not being a shifter at the time, something the Eren Kruger/Kiyomi explanation doesn’t solve in my opinion.

So for now I’m keeping the Kruger/Kiyomi theory in mind, but I’d rather say that Eren’s dream was about himself and Mikasa (when he left the Island to go to Marley during the time skip or a moment that hasn’t happened yet) because I find the loop theory to be more likely for several reasons (as the other post I reblogged explained).

EDIT: just to precise, I like the loop theory because it can explain why Kruger saw “the future” and why Eren had that “dream”. If the story is stuck in a constant loop (no matter what the explanation for that loop is), then what Kruger recalled was simply memories

(stored in the Attacking Titan)

of a previous loop and same for when Eren “dreamt” in ch1.

I hope it helps, have a nice day Anon!
