Hi Anon! And yep, we sure did. She watched s1 and s2 in the span of two weeks basically, so I can assure you it means she definitely enjoyed it. :))
(personal so under read more)
If I recall correctly, she was a bit confused at the end of s2 though, as we all were back then in the manga, especially since they added a few things like Ymir’s backstory, so she was really frustrated about not knowing more answers.
I think the thing I liked the most was her reaction about Eren using the Coordinate for the first time. You know, this scene…
Because when it rolled in, my dad was just coming home so it distracted her for like ten seconds and she went “wait, what? what? wait what happened? did I miss something? WHAT JUST HAPPENED? WHY ARE THEY RUNNING? WHO DID THAT?!” and I had to rewind back, haha.
Anyway, after she was done, I told her to read the manga (since I have it in French) but since s3 is for this summer, I think she’d rather watch it instead. However, seeing as she’s capable of watching 13 episodes in a row on the same evening (ep 9-22 for s1, I’m not kidding, I had to physically stop her at 3 am), I will probably wait until s3 is over before I let her watch it, lol.
She’s so cute tho, I mean, she had all these theories (all wrong xDD) and I was kinda forced to tell her a few things because she wouldn’t stop asking (about Grisha and the basement mainly); but since SnK is hard to explain without adding all the details, I doubt she really understood the few things I told her.
I think her favorite characters are Mikasa and Erwin, so what happened to Erwin at Wall Maria is /!classified info/!
for now, but I showed her Mikasa’s, Reiner’s and Eren’s new design last month when ch101 came out and she liked them a lot (”omg they’re all so beautiful”). :))
So it’s back on Urasawa Naoki’s Monster for now (she read half of it and now she’s watching the anime) + she started Psycho Pass recently, even if she’s not very far in the story (because I’m busy and she won’t watch it on her own since she’s not good with using electronic devices xD).
I hope it satisfies your curiosity! Have a great day as well. ^3^
What’s so fucked up is that Our!Ciel damned his brother’s soul to Sebastian’s stomach, by accident. If it weren’t for his renunciation of God summoning Sebastian, Real!Ciel would have had a normal death. No wonder our!Ciel feels so guilty…
Hello Anon 🙂 And if you meant my blog icon, then yep…
these three are characters from Tokyo Ghoul and this lil’ artwork was drawn by Ishida-sensei himself. 🙂
The guy on the left is the shadiest, biggest troll and probably the strongest as well as most mysterious character of the whole story (truth is, he’s one of my big faves). I think I have something like 20+ different versions of a general theory about him and I constantly scream whenever he shows up.
The girl cheering with him is as mysterious as he is for now, but I’m guessing she is probably less strong than him. I also do think she’s extremely hot despite probably not being that young.
Finally the guy sighing in the background is their friend, which sometimes seems super odd considering that they don’t have the same agenda at all, but who’s not mysterious or shady at all in comparison (which is why he’s sighing, because he’s constantly fed up with how much they’re trolling around).
A great trio really, and if they’re my blog icon it’s because I spend a large part of my time imagining what these two clowns…
and some of their other friends could be up to. :3
I hope it answers your question! Have a nice weekend :))
I PRAY THAT ISHIDA WILL FUCKING READ THIS *SCREAMS TOO LOUD* i love you
you were doing great, SHHHHHHHHHHH
More seriously though @ladywongs, this isn’t even remotely about shipping in my case, but more about achievement and character development as the arc is ending.
Look, this is what happened to Touka during the whole arc (that started back in vol13):
So in my opinion, it’s not like the Dragoneki arc has many different possibilities for an ending where Kaneki and Touka are concerned. x)
I mean, it’s really interesting that all these characters willingly allowed Touka to use them as a ladder in order for her to climb and reach where Kaneki is, because it’s not a coincidence if they think that she’s the one who has the highest chance to bring him back, and that it’s important for her too to succeed.
Not to say that they all were ready to sacrifice themselves for the sole purpose of Touka and Ken reuniting because it’s not the case, but I think that for most ghouls at least, the bond between Kaneki and Touka is seen as very significant because it’s brimming with hope and happiness:
which is also probably why everyone already cares about their baby, even though we’re one month in and its chances of survival have yet to be properly discussed.
Anyway, this was Touka a little earlier in the arc:
And back then, I remember I felt relieved to finally hear her say something like this to everyone else.
We’re talking about a woman with self-loathing/self-confidence issues, who was very contradictory about her own feelings
previously in :Re:
to Tsukiyama: ”I think it’s better if Kaneki doesn’t come back to the ghoul world”, ch42
vs to Amon:“as long as he came home, things would be alright”, ch117
because her take on life ever since the Anteiku raid arc was “we can only live while losing things” and it led her to become a little too fatalistic.
Touka is a girl who felt very self-conscious about the idea of everyone else celebrating her and Kaneki being happy (when Kaneki was just glad to let everyone know), or who was so uncertain and scared about the fate of her baby that at first she didn’t even want to tell its daddy.
In other words, this arc being partially about Touka challenging that previous mentality of hers (like Yomo did and Uta called him out on it in ch142), because she sure as hell isn’t ready to keep on living while losing Kaneki, amongst other people, makes a lot of sense to me.
That’s why, since earlier in the arc she
clearly
told the others that she too wanted Kaneki to come back and be happy, I think it’s time to tell the man himself. :))
@arubinoakuma also mentioned to me that while the other cultists are “freaking out” (I see that some are trying to escape or hide, one woman is praying, the apparent leader is still trying to get fame and wealth or something), there’s one individual just standing there and looking on, completely emotionless.
Who is this…?
Lord Polaris?
John Brown?
Someone else?
Whoever this is, I think they are the one who takes real Ciel’s lifeless body….
Looks exactly like RC’s butler! I wonder if it means the whole thing was predicted and planned from the start by the Queen?
I’d say planned by John Brown, and he’s manipulating the queen…. Kind of easy to do when she’s so distraught over her husband’s death that she’s perhaps a bit mentally unstable… and susceptible to suggestion… and John is her “connection” to Albert through that hand puppet….
@abybweisse omg thanks for tagging me! I rechecked the chapter and you’re right, this dude appears blatantly in one panel, so I think it’s relevant, especially since it seems he’s the only one who doesn’t wear a mask. :))
either guy who attacked the manor on December 14th. To quote myself:
hypothetically speaking, who knows if Brown didn’t actually keep an eye on the twins when they were sold to the cult during that one month? Maybe because he wanted to make sure Vincent’s sons would die (if the purpose of the attack on the manor was the annihilation of the entire P family)? Or for another reason?
In any case, things didn’t go as planned because our!Ciel summoned a demon through his brother’s sacrifice on the altar, which is probably not something Brown expected and was happy about.
Of course maybe this isn’t even Brown (the post above was written from the point of view that the Queen is the big bad), but it’s just to insist that the twins were apparently given on purpose to these child traffickers, because whoever killed Vincent wanted them to suffer before dying. So having someone making sure the twins ended up dead would make sense.
Another possibility could be that this guy was the Shinigami going to clean up after Seb. We know they sometimes involve themselves to wait and watch until it’s their time to do their job. A shinigami would also explain why the guy isn’t panicking in comparison to everyone else.
Finally, I’m just not sure about this guy above being
the same guy who killed Agni tho (@akuma-de-shitsuji), because I really think this guy is lord Polaris (same knives in his room + the fact it’s logical he went with real!Ciel since he is Sirius’ butler) and lord Polaris is most likely brought back from the dead too (otherwise why would he be a star lord?).
So unless he…
…ended up being killed by Seb, I think it’s not Lord Polaris.
TL;DR two possibilities for me:
it’s one of the guys who attacked the manor: they gave the twins on purpose to these traffickers, probably thinking the twins would suffer before dying and he was checking to make sure this was happening, except that our!Ciel ended up contracting a demon.
it’s the Shinigami who’s in charge of collecting the souls once Seb is done with his blood bath, hence why he’s chilling in comparison to everyone else because he was aware this would happen.
as a side point, it’s definitely not UT because UT found out about what happened in the cult through Seb’s record only during the campania arc.
So the funny
thing is, in any other story, I… would hate zombies. Resurrections
are like time travel as a trope for me: can be great when done well, but
like, less than 1% are done well. But fakeout deaths are A Thing in TG,
and they have always been a thing in TG (I don’t understand complaints
about it; it’s not anything new). So resurrections would kind of work
like that, except I sincerely doubt it would be all peachy and everyone
would just live happily ever after. Resurrections also do fit with the
theme of living not matter what, and it might also address how we should
view death, since I don’t think Ishida wants people to be afraid of
death so much much as he wants them to value life.
So let’s
address the characters that are possibly returning here, and let’s
address them with a PACT analysis: Plot reasons they might return (aka what’d it offer other characters), Arc (was their arc complete?), Cathartic (was their death emotionally cathartic?), and Thematic
reasons (would them returning fit thematically?). (I just made this up lol don’t take it too seriously but it’s
how I think about it.) Also this is from most likely to least likely (in
my opinion).
Ihei Hairu:
She has the most foreshadowing for returning. Furuta’s directly stated it and so has Ui multiple times.
Plot
reasons: She was how we were introduced to the Garden as a concept; it
would make sense to have her arc conclude there. In addition, her return
could give Ui the closure he very clearly still wants. Arc:
Hairu did not finish her arc, which was all about striving to be loved.
In the end, that got her killed and she never received it. Should she
return, however briefly, I would expect her to understand that Ui loves
her as the end of her arc. Cathartic: Her death is the only
one I would say is not cathartic in the remotest sense. Honestly,
Hairu’s, Shio’s, and Rikai’s are the only deaths in the entire manga
that I think have no catharsis to them. Thematic: It’s odd
that Hairu would not receive love at the end of her arc, because every
other character–Mutsuki, Kaneki, Tsukiyama–who desperately craves love
and human connection and pursues it, no matter how messed up said
pursuit might be, has received it. It’s weird that Hairu’s pursuit of it
led to her death.
Shirazu Ginshi:
Plot
reasons: Urie is still desperately clinging to Shirazu, and Mutsuki and
Saiko are still reeling from his death too. Shirazu in particular
prompted Saiko to develop in the past; should he return, that could
happen again. Additionally, Urie vowed to get his body back so that
needs to be addressed. Arc: Shirazu didn’t finish his arc. In
the end, he bore the burden for them all and died, and told them to let
Haru die because he didn’t trust them to bear the burden. Should he
return, I would expect him to die in peace at the end, trusting Urie,
Mutsuki, and Saiko to care for Haru. Cathartic: Yes, his death was cathartic.. but unlike say the others on this list (besides Hairu) he still died feeling alone and unable to hear or see his friends. Thematic:
If all the other Qs are overcoming their flaws, it’s possible Urie
could overcome that “bear the burden” flaw in Shirazu’s stead–except no
one is calling him out on it. However, we haven’t seen Haru addressed
since he died, and there are lingering questions about his request to
let her die. Karren von Rosewald:
Plot
reasons: Tsukiyama has not addressed her death since a brief reference
during his fight with Ui on Rushima, even though it clearly devastated
him. Arc: Her arc was indeed complete. Cathartic: Very much so. Thematic: The two most likely to return are Hairu and Shirazu, who also died in
the Rose Arc with Karren. Additionally, TG is generally quite negative
about martyrdom, but then again, it hasn’t painted Karren’s negatively,
so idk.
Shinohara Yukinori:
This really depends on if he is actually dead as Furuta implied, or not.
Plot
reasons: Juuzou is still desperately looking for his approval, and a
simple word of advice from Marude is not a satisfying conclusion to his
arc. Arc: Yes, it’s complete. Cathartic: Yes. Thematic: Forcing Juuzou to come to terms with himself as the Reaper and whether or not that’s a label he wants.
Arima Kishou:
Plot
reasons: a return could shatter Hirako’s and Ui’s and Yusa’s constant
wondering about what he wanted. Also it might come out that Kaneki did
not kill him. Arc: his arc was complete… ish. It could be taken further. Cathartic: Yes. Thematic: The manga is very anti-suicide and this could be a chance to address that.
So Shithead Sebs was the one who put it into OC’s head that he “sacrificed” RC to summon him- all while flinging around RC’s body in front of OC. What a dick.
me @ seb right now:
Seb basically manipulated our!Ciel while he was angsting and made him believe that the only reason he was here was because our!Ciel was cruel enough to sacrifice his brother.
And while Ciel was crying about not being good enough to go home to what was left of his family because “he sacrificed his brother’s soul” Seb was here like “choose now do you want that contract?”.
Seb. is. such. a dick. I really, sincerely hope UT will stab him again and that he won’t get his dinner at the end of the story.
