Well I fucking knew it x)))

Hi! Ah, it was a hunch, but it was fueled by two different explanations. 🙂

The first one was that, considering all the (or related to the) old oek!Uta theories, since Itori was the one who introduced us rather seriously to the concept of hybrids, I thought that maybe she was supposed to be a parallel to Touka from the moment we learnt about Touka’s pregnancy.

And no matter what my take on her backstory was (since I had different ideas), the parallel to Touka did seem likely to me and so I imagined that maybe she felt something towards Uta (seeing what she said in ch148 too). Of course that didn’t have to mean Uta felt the same as Kaneki or anything, but just that the possibility of Itori’s feelings did exist.

The second explanation happened when I realized Sensei would probably never target the matter of the Clowns’ agency after ch171 was released.

However, in that case Itori being friends with both Uta and Yomo but following Uta around (being a Clown, saving Yomo for him in the 24th ward, their shared past in the 4th ward before they met Yomo, etc) hinted rather clearly (for me) that there could be more than friendship for her.

That’s why I thought it made sense, even if I didn’t really expect it to ever be addressed, so that part of the last chapter in particular was a very good surprise!

I hope it answers your question, have a nice day Anon!

I still think Uta was the old oek but later ishida changed the story. Even before the oek was mentioned ishida had foreshadowed he was an oeg many times. I waited so much for these theories to be confirmed. That would have been great :(

midnight-in-town:

Hi Anon! Yeah, as I mentioned here a few chapters ago and here more recently, it’s also my opinion that Sensei didn’t go through with what he planned for several parts of the story, the Clowns in general being one of them. 🙂

I’m okay tho’, I mean, I realized it would be the case precisely by the time ch171 was released and Uta’s little moment led to no real answer. Obviously I was kinda hoping to be proved wrong, but now it’s set in stone so… :3

I’m still considering this idea as a headcanon personally (all versions of it), I mean…

…knowing that it’s 100% okay if no one agrees with me. xD

I won’t mention again all that I mentioned during this past year (the recap post is here if you want to check it out once more) and I don’t regret any second that I worked onto the many versions of this theory, so I’m not bitter.

If Sensei ever wants to do a spin-off about the century preceding the events of TG (since he sure seemed to enjoy making all these Uta drawings), or if he wants to tell us anything about what he didn’t make happen in TG, I will definitely read and be all ears, but otherwise I’m just comfortable telling myself it’s what happened now that there won’t be any other answer on the subject.

Sorry to hear that you may be disappointed Anon, though. But if you liked these theories, well, there is nothing forbidding you to believe in them now that they weren’t confirmed or denied and probably won’t ever be. ^3^

I hope it helps, if just a little! Have a lovely day. 🙂

Hi Anon! Ah, well, to specify that time passed, it’s generally easier to give a new haircut to the characters. 🙂

Almost everyone else had their haircut changed Anon. He already felt like a reprobate for most of his life…

so I really want him to feel like he’s belonging with everyone else now. xD

Besides, long or short hair, I’m pretty sure Yomo wouldn’t notice any difference anyway and Itori probably loves him no matter what haircut he has, so it really doesn’t matter, hahaha!

Have a nice day Anon. :33

I know I’ve been annoying with all these theories for almost a year now, but since we’re apparently close to the end of the series and we might never get an answer, I’ll just say that I’ll keep on believing that something was up with at least Uta and Noro (even if for Noro it was only because of Eto), as well as maybe Itori and Nico.

Were they related to the Washuus? Were they linked to the two previous OEGs in the timeline? What was the deal with Uta’s tattoos? I doubt we’ll find out about any of this at this point so, if we really aren’t given any other hint before the end, I’ll personally take the general idea from all these theories as a headcanon.

Le Morte de Rize: Responsibility and Resistance in Tokyo Ghoul

dreamofcentipedes:

I suppose it’s about time for my take on the most recent fandom crisis.

To me, it seems that Rize died for the same reason Furuta did. Both indulged in escapism instead of processing their pain, both created tragedy instead of fighting against it, and most importantly, neither took responsibility for their sins and tried to make things right. They never ceased to be driven by selfish desire, even if it was at the cost of everyone else.

Though sympathetic characters, it was this unrepentant irresponsibility that led to their destruction, not because they deserved it, but because giving into tragedy will only ensure it.

the flower/sun like tattoo in Uta’s chest looks like nucleus in page 14. both has 8 rays/petals

coromoor:

heh that’s really cool

especially because the center has a two headed snake

and another of Uta’s tattoo’s has a similar motif, with a face in the centre of 2 snakes with a cross on it’s head that matches Rize’s appearance as pointed out here [x] by @super-peace-fufu-boy

Uta’s tattoos really do tell the story of the entire series

Gosh, not only did I just notice this, but I find that the words of both Itori and Nico, who are the only two Clowns we didn’t see fighting this time, are particularly meaningful to the parallel between the other Clowns.

  • Itori said…

– Hey,
there are only two ways for people to live.
To live beautifully, or to live for beautiful people.

– Is that so.
Then, what about people who do neither?

– My, that is simple.
They become mad and die.

;_; my poor Clowns

look guys I’m just… not sure it’s supposed to be a series of coincidences?
I don’t know for sure obviously because it could just be Sensei’s style, but the fact both are Clowns just makes the possible similarities less random and I’ve been wondering about this ever since Donato’s words about two other “crowns” before him.

Besides…

I’m also still wondering how and why Furuta came to be acquainted with the Clowns, especially since he’s apparently the one who seeked them out

Hopefully we’ll get some answers tomorrow or next week since we’re at some point going to target Furuta’s past and goals in more details, but I’m still ?? about the past of all the still alive Clowns (which includes Nico and Itori, still as mysterious as ever) and what’s linking them all (besides what Itori said about being tired of despairing).
