Hello! So I was wondering what your profile picture was about? Is it from a manga?

Hello Anon 🙂 And if you meant my blog icon, then yep…

image

these three are characters from Tokyo Ghoul and this lil’ artwork was drawn by Ishida-sensei himself. 🙂

The guy on the left is the shadiest, biggest troll and probably the strongest as well as most mysterious character of the whole story (truth is, he’s one of my big faves). I think I have something like 20+ different versions of a general theory about him and I constantly scream whenever he shows up.

The girl cheering with him is as mysterious as he is for now, but I’m guessing she is probably less strong than him. I also do think she’s extremely hot despite probably not being that young.

Finally the guy sighing in the background is their friend, which sometimes seems super odd considering that they don’t have the same agenda at all, but who’s not mysterious or shady at all in comparison (which is why he’s sighing, because he’s constantly fed up with how much they’re trolling around).

A great trio really, and if they’re my blog icon it’s because I spend a large part of my time imagining what these two clowns…

image

and some of their other friends could be up to. :3

I hope it answers your question! Have a nice weekend :))

kingkishou:

Speaking of eyes and kagunes,

how come a ghouls as powerful as Noro didn’t have any?

@kingkishou OKAY SO I just remembered that Noro wasn’t the only one who showed no eye pattern:

image

remember Uta (always hinted to be a strong ghoul or OEG) and as if his kagune/kakuja was made of empty eye sockets, back in ch110?

So in Noro’s case, I’m pretty sure it’s not random either, especially since Furuta said in ch121…

image

Initially I was thinking that maybe Noro was Eto’s foster parent whom she mentioned in ch66 and that maybe she kept him “alive” after he was killed (by injecting her kagune into him? I mean, she did leave a “gift” to Kaneki and Banjou used his kagune for the first time after she stabbed him too) and that was why Noro was so monstrous despite not showing any eye pattern of Rc cells clustering?

Now though I wonder…

image
image

if there isn’t some link to the Nagaraj.

I mean, fom the way I understand it, I think no eye pattern possibly means…

image

…no Rc cells clustering and/or no kakuhou and it’s true that it wasn’t really Uta in ch110, since it was a clone he made from one of his piercings…

image

…so maybe that could explain the empty eye sockets pattern, if the clone thingy had no kakuhou in the first place.

Thus maybe it was the same for Noro, if somehow he was just a shell or even a clone of who he used to be…

image
image

that could explain the emphasis on a big mouth rather than on an eye pattern, just like Uta’s clone…

image

or even Kaneki’s, more recently.

image
image

(this one kinda looks like Noro in his final battle, just saying…)

Besides, Noro never seemed to particularly react to anyone stabbing him or cutting him in two (Aogiri arc), pretty much like Uta’s clones (”Arima” & “Sasaki”) who just kept up the sarcasm, so maybe the Noro we knew was just some kind of empty shell or clone from the beginning and the skull we saw in ch55 was just the proof that V really killed him many years ago?

TL;DR

  • eyeball pattern = Rc cells clustering and Rc cells cluster more densely around the kakuhou, according to Kimi => Dragoneki
  • big mouth pattern = Uta’s clone when he faced Juuzou & co, Kaneki’s current humanoid clones => so Noro = clone of Eto’s foster parent?

PS: Furuta was also associated with the mouth + teeth pattern but since I’m not sure he can clone himself, that’s not helping. ^^”

Imma… just leave you some posts to go along with that 😀

honestly i love all these theories

Insane theory 2.0what if Kaneki isn’t the one who hurt Hide’s mouth/throat to the point he could hardly talk without an equipment, because

  • either he only met Uta (or one of his kakuja clones, but same deal) in the sewers,
  • or there were two Hides, but Kaneki only ate the one who was actually Uta?

Meeting Uta in the sewers would explain the possible weird thing going on with Kaneki’s right eye during V14 (please see @kingkishou‘s theory I linked to above) + why Uta had Kaneki’s mask in :Re, despite Kaneki throwing it away in the sewers (even if, of course, Uta could have also simply done another similar mask between TG and :Re since he’s the one who crafted that mask anyway).

And in that case, instead of Kaneki, maybe the one who did something to Hide’s mouth/throat, way after V14 (which is to say between TG and :Re) is…

image

image

…Eto? After all we know Eto and Hide possibly have/had a link ever since this scene:

image

and we still haven’t received an explanation for these stitches Eto did on people.

Considering the possible link between Hide and Uta, I wonder if the whole thing in the sewers wasn’t a well-planned trick, like, maybe both of them really went down there…

image

image

but the Hide Kaneki saw and the Hide he ate (which is the part we have yet to see) were two different persons. Or he saw and ate the same Hide but it was actually Uta all along.

What I find interesting in this theory, besides more answers about some stuff Eto did, is that we know Kaneki is going to blame himself so much for what he did down in the sewers, so imagine if in fact he’s not responsible at all for this. xD Mind blowing for poor Kaneki really.

(also “Hide” not being Hide in the sewers but Uta would explain how “Hide” managed to escape after Kaneki started eating him)

I’m bringing back this crack theory of “Eto is the one who did this to Hide” (thanks @kingkishou for reminding me), because, look,

image

narratively speaking I wonder if it wouldn’t be a huge step forward for Kaneki to try and take responsibility for “killing his best friend” too (since he still thinks that’s what happened) only to realize that is at least one thing that he didn’t do.

The risk Kaneki is facing after this new development (now that he admitted that he’s happy because some people love him for what he is) is to start considering that everything bad that happened is his fault and that he should bear the burden of all the guilt by himself, because he decided he’d take responsibility.

However, in that case, finding out that he’s not the one who did that to Hide might end up breaking that mentality and make him realize that he’s not the worst person ever. Just some thoughts.

Again, here are the reasons I like the “Hide was maimed by Eto” theory:

  • how was a supposedly normal human like Hide able to stop Kaneki from completely eating him once he had started?
  • how did a supposedly normal human like Hide manage to escape the sewers severely injured, after Kaneki ate a part of his face/throat?“
  • the eye thing in V14 (see above)
  • Uta having Kaneki’s mask in :Re when Kaneki threw it away in the sewers
    • => for all these points “Hide” actually being Uta solves it all.
  • what about Eto stitching people, that was never addressed?

I know it’s a crack theory but it would tie Hide to both Eto and the Clowns, which would make sense since there is definitely some truth he’s hiding! So I like it a lot and if it can help with Kaneki’s on-going development, it’s even better. ^_^

X and Hide

eto-when-and-where:

It might just be my insomnia rn, but can we go back with X symbol in this series?

First time it pops up is with Itori, that specifically pops up at moment Itori starts talking about hybrids.

Eto, who is first half ghoul (that we know of), has also had alias as “X”.

Then X during chapter 125 of :re that was ahm you know and Touka staying pregnant after it with her own hybrid baby.

(not exactly saying she stayed pregnant after that specific chapter but hopefully you get on what I’m aiming at)

But we had X show up way earlier with … Uta in chapter 35.

(interesting pattern)

It even got its own special panel right in chapter 36.

And speaking of it, Hide also appears to have what seems to be X pattern on his headphones in latest volume cover.

(credits to @midnight-in-town)

Either I’m reading too much into this due my inability to sleep rn or there is something with all this. As X in this series appears or gets emphasized on usually when it is related to hybrids in some manner.

@eto-when-and-where sorry it took me so long to get back to you. :3
Actually, leaving Hide’s headphones aside because a better version of the cover gave me the impression it rather seemed to be a ray of sunlight (not that it changes anything to these theories), I think the whole “X” thing really is supposed to imply hybrid/crossbreed:

  • Itori introduced the concept by making that X gesture with her fingers, but she also showed just one kakugan so far so… I’m not saying her being a OEG is the most likely possibility but, y’know, I wouldn’t exclude anything either until Sensei addresses the topic. xD Anyway, there seems to something personal about hybrid babies with her.
    EDIT: also…
image
  • you made a great point about Eto, who’s a natural OEG (it always was such a confusing part about vol 8 for me. I couldn’t understand why they’d refer to her as X)
  • same about ch125, even if it most likely wasn’t the day Touka became pregnant (unless ghoul pregnancy lasts longer than 9 months), but it was just to imply that Kaneki and Touka falling in love would eventually result in conceiving a lil hybrid baby
  • finally, there is a Uta: artificial or natural I don’t know, but there are hints that he could be a OEG. To give an example, the X headphones happened during the same chapter as….
image

and we possibly have seen the ink fading before

As for Hide, I still think there is something linking him to those kids from the 24th ward, but I am not sure that implies he is a OEG or, more simply, that he has a kakuhou. I guess we will see anyway :))

Thanks for making that post, very interesting as always! ^3^

It doesn’t seem to me that Uta and/or Itori could be Washuus, but as many people have pointed out Itori seemed like a good candidate for a breeder (like the Washuu’s « wombs ») and there was some suspicious scene on the calendar, so do you think she may have some relation with this? Although now that I think about it, there are also speculations that she’s a half-ghoul or something different, and the « wombs » are pure-blooded ghouls….

midnight-in-town:

Hey Anon! 🙂

I personally never considered Uta and Itori could be Washuus (but I’ve read some posts about it from people who did) but it’s true I thought it was possible that they came from the Garden.

However, now that we know the Sunlit Garden is mainly the result of Tsuneyoshi’s harem (I am wondering about Hsiao though since she isn’t Japanese), I just am not so sure anymore that they were from the Garden, which complicates every theory about them, haha.

About Itori though, I just don’t see the suspicious scenes on the calendar that you’re talking about (she appeared on two days if I remember correctly)?
But in any case, yeah, I really like the theory that she was a breeder because of things she said about hybrids…

image

…which is what we were just explained about Tsuneyoshi’s harem when you think about it (besides the fact that Tsuneyoshi does have a lot of hybrid children, even if they don’t live very long).

So maybe she was supposed to be a womb too, like Rize, but she also escaped? The OEG!Itori theory comes from the fact we only ever saw one of her kakugans in ch34, so that’s why I think the breeder/womb!Itori theory does seem more likely at this point!

Besides the breeder!Itori theory though, I also have another possibility in mind for Uta’s origins (and maybe even Itori’s, should she not be a breeder):

image
image
image

Ghoulification is the process so far known as turning humans into OEGs and I don’t know what the CCG did that was so “evil” that Kanou betrayed them (to do his own ghoulification experiments) but back to Uta, the possibility exists that he is a OEG, so maybe he is the result of one of the CCG’s ghoulification experiments (that were “so evil” that the twins’ father tried to double cross the CCG and Kanou betrayed them).

That would make sense when you think about it:

  • we know he is apparently super strong (enough so that he was leading one of the deadliest wards when he was below 20 years old + he doesn’t use his kagune when fighting, if he really has one),
  • I mentioned the possibility he could be a OEG, which would explain why he would tattoo his eyes in the first place.
  • We know joining the Clowns’ gang and being so interested in Kaneki has to have a link with his own objectives, which are, like the rest of him, completely mysterious
  • And there is this scene about when the twins’ parents were killed…
image

This is the ghoul who killed them on V/the Washuus’ orders, and that’s what Uta looked like when he was younger…

image

So, ahem, maybe V/the Washuus used Uta (after an experiment of the ghoulification process) to kill the Yasuhisa parents since he was really unstable when he was younger.

On top of all that, there is all the weird stuff he can say, like in ch111, when Yomo asks him “how did you become so strong” and he goes “I don’t know about that”.

TL;DR:

  • About Itori: for now my main theory about her is that she was (supposed to be?) a breeder, so she probably was a part of the Garden at some point if that’s the case.
    • in that case, the theory that she could be a OEG is wrong indeed.
    • if she was a breeder/womb, that makes the crack theory that she could be disguising as Iyo (Matsuri’s wife) more likely.
  • About Uta: for now my main theory about him is that he underwent the (according to Kanou) “evil” ghoulification process at the hands of the CCG turning him into a OEG
    • in that case, he was probably the ghoul V/the Washuus used to kill Yasuhisa Nanao and his wife
    • he might have escaped and joined the 4th ward after killing them.

There you go, sorry for the long answer, I hope it makes sense! Please remember, these could change with new manga content.

Thanks for passing by and have a nice weekend Anon! 🙂

image

Look above, Anon. 🙂

If I remember correctly, it’s my very first (serious) theory about the backstories of Uta and Itori and it’s rather old, but I believe most of it still makes sense! It goes with this

[x]…

image

and these theories too: [x] [x]

Have a nice day. :))

adding to uta playing chess with hide (?), it was mentioned in the calendar that hide played go (« an abstract strategy board game for two players, in which the aim is to surround more territory than the opponent », with white and black « stones » used to play, similar to chess) and by what kaneki said, he was really good at it. also, matsuri had a calendar page where he was playing shogi with someone else we can’t see too. and by who he was recruited?

midnight-in-town:

Hi! Ohhh, I had forgotten about that, thanks Anon, but actually I’m not surprised at all that Hide plays Go (I’m not sure that Matsuri playing shogi is related to any of this though, since he’s less mysterious than Hide, but it does attest to his intelligence too). :))

Of course, there is literally 0 hint that Hide and Uta ever played chess…

image

…but considering @kingkishou‘s theory about what happened in the sewers before V14 being way more significant than we could have initially thought, I’m not trusting either Hide nor Uta, because they’re way too shady and mysterious as of right now.

And even if somehow it turns out that Hide and Uta were playing chess together (if just because Kaneki’s mask and Eto’s book were sent at the same time in ch31.5, which could allude to Hide and Uta having a few plans in common), it doesn’t even automatically mean that Hide belongs with the Clowns.

Speaking of “recruitment” now (even if again, Hide might not be a Clown at all), Spooky-chan likes to say that I play a lot with clown conspiracy theories but…

image

by now, there is a possibility that Uta is the Nagaraj (or has a strong connection to him) and Furuta said something about the Nagaraj “sharing his life force”…

image

so I wonder if several blond kids with apparently no parent but a connection to the 24th ward might not be a hint to some kind of link, as I proposed here.

So maybe Hide comes from the 24th ward

(as in, maybe all those blond kids were somehow born from the Nagaraj’s kakuja which would be what Furuta meant, even if I have no real idea as to how it’d be possible) and it’s not that he was recruited, but rather that maybe, like Roma, Itori mentored him for a while when he escaped the 24th ward (which would explain why he knows how to collect and use information).

After all, I always wondered about that scene…

image

…because, aside from Donato in Cochlea, all the other Clowns (including Furuta) were listening to her answering “what happened to Kaneki”, so who provided that information about the CCG in the first place? I mean it’s not like Hide wasn’t by Marude’s side until the Anteiku raid arc.

It’s just a theory though, nothing confirmed at all and maybe I’m just reading wayyy too much into it, so please take it all with a grain of salt. :3

Have a nice weekend Anon!

image

Hi! I never mind anyone sharing their thoughts Anon. :))

However, even if there are definitely more chances for you to be right than me, I can’t be sure for the moment, because the 24th ward was destroyed after Dragoneki appeared. So even if Touka and co most likely stayed around where their old base was, how would

Hide

have found them since he wasn’t a part of the operation?

And even going with your idea and assuming that Dragoneki hadn’t annihilated almost everyone down there to protect Touka (since we know a part of Juuzou’s men escaped)…

image

…are you sure that Hide would have asked anyone about where exactly the operation took place, when everyone was panicking and no one back at the CCG seemed to have known about his plan to contact ghouls?

image

That’s why I’m just not sure, even if you might be right and anyway, it’s also true that Hide could have simply guessed on his own that Touka and co would have been somewhere close to where the old 24th ward used to be. :))

In general though, I just meant to insist about Hide’s shady act

image

…and that’s why I don’t think he’s on his own, whether it is with Eto and/or one/several Clowns and/or other characters that he shares or shared a plan.

Thanks for your insight though, I really appreciate it! 🙂 Have a nice weekend :3

man Uta is true gentleman. Leaving lady to drag heavy man on rain while he is sitting with an umbrella lol Also you need to update that Itori’s vs Touka’s tits theory talk as you have more material to work with this time around XDDD

midnight-in-town:

Hi! Tbh, as I was explaining here I rather think it’s a possible hint that Uta might be someone important enough to Itori that she’d feel the need to be helpful.
I mean, look, it’s not the first time she specifically gets involved because he is…

image
image

And so in the recent chapter…

image
image

it could be the same thing, even if I agree that it isn’t nice that she got to carry Yomo who must be heavy. xD
Truth be told, I was wondering if maybe she ended up carrying him because Uta got exhausted after fighting Dragoneki to rescue Yomo or carrying him all the way up until Itori came to help him? I don’t know but maybe there is an actual reason she ended up being the one to carry Yomo.

Aside from that, I never wrote any theory about Itori and Touka just because of that one mole-on-breast thing that they share lol, rather I wrote about a possible parallel because…

image
image

Itori knows about hybrid pregnancies and thus might help Touka with making her own pregnancy viable, but even that is just a theory that might get confirmed or denied within the next chapters, I guess.

Thanks for passing by Anon and have a nice day!

image

LMAO but wait Anon, for real I didn’t mean to make it sound like that!

I mean, feel free to ship them if you want, but I feel (if that part wasn’t mistranslated) that Itori simply looks up to the one she refers to as her “king”…

image

…because of what he accomplished or represented, but that person could be the Nagaraj just like it could be Furuta, since Furuta was the “king” that the Clowns were helping recently, or someone else.
So you see, in the first place we can’t even be sure that this person is Uta, so I definitely wasn’t vouching for Itori and Uta to have a thing between them.

Maybe she simply helped Uta and Yomo because they’ve been friends for a long time and that comment about “loving [her] king” is referring to someone entirely different (Furuta, Kaneki, someone from the past… again if it wasn’t mistranslated).

And besides, let’s say she actually had/has a crush on Uta (in the theory that he’s the Nagaraj and that she was talking about him), it doesn’t mean that he ever reciprocated her feelings anyway.

So my bad, I’m really fond of the theory that the Clowns are older than they look and that the Nagaraj is Uta, but it remains a rather cracky theory to this day and we can’t exactly be sure that it’s who Itori was talking about in that panel above.

I hope it makes more sense that way. Sorry for the confusion and have a nice day Anon!

image

Hi! Hm, it’s a little hard to explain because all the ships I have are generally fueled by canon content, so it’s not exactly a ship I’m serious about, but at the same time since I find there is some kind of ambiguity in canon (mostly because they’re still mysterious characters), I’ve considered it before. 🙂

In the end, it’s as I explained above. While I think the friendship between Yomo, Itori and Uta is genuine, it’s a little hard to exactly

grasp their dynamic.
I mean, even when you’re friend with several people, you can like one friend more than the other for different reasons, right? That’s the kind of ambiguity I’m talking about here.

So overall, if I were to sum up my thoughts about them, I’d use this:

image
  • the three of them are definitely friends
  • but at the same time, only Uta and Itori are Clowns and have known each other longer
  • in :Re ch148, it seemed more like Uta went to save Yomo and Itori followed him, instead of the two of them both wanting to save Yomo.
    • unless Itori played it dismissively because she didn’t want Tsukiyama to think she cared about Yomo too, hard to say.
  • also this cover gives me weird vibes about an unresolved issue since Itori is in the middle of them and holding a funeral frame (who/what are they burying?), while the chapter introduced the concept of dead hybrid babies, so for all we know there could be more to it :/

Finally…

image

Itori was described to be pleasant and likable (despite her jokes giving Yomo a hard time) by both men so… who knows if there is just friendship or not. xD

TL;DR I don’t know if there is/might have been romantic feelings existing within their little trio or not, but if somehow Sensei reveals that there is or was, it wouldn’t bother me at all. :))

Sorry for making this complicated. If we could know more about Uta and Itori, it would probably easier to explain. xD Have a nice day Anon!

where was uta playing chess with someone? i dont remember seeing it…?

U doubting me and Cor-chan, Anon? I’m shook :(((((( lmao, just kidding, here:

image

From :Re ch38, I know it’s initially not that visible because of Uta’s floor also having a checkerboard pattern so, despite it being in the foreground of the panel, Sensei really managed to hide it. 🙂

So yeah Uta is/was playing chess with someone and this person might be Hide just like it might not be (we considered Hide since he apparently left his headphones (?) at HySy but nothing is certain for now).

Have a nice day Anon!

image

Hi Anon! Have you read all the posts I linked to in this recap post? 🙂
Because this isn’t just one theory, it’s different crack theories working around a similar basis, namely trying to imagine what Sensei might be hinting at with all these characters.

For example:

  • “Apparently related covers for Hide and Uta (+ same headphones?)”
    • => why? what’s a possible link between Uta and Hide?
  • “One of Sensei’s drawing shows Hide and three dots while similar dots can be found on the clothes of the underground kids, as well as on Itori’s mask”
    • => is this significant? could there be link between Itori, these kids Ayato found and Hide?
  • “In The Penisman by Sensei, the MC’s mom was looking a lot like Itori and his bro a lot like Hide”
    • => could this be an idea that Sensei reused in TG somehow and so could there be a link between Itori and Hide?

So you see, it’s just me associating different hints and ideas to see if I can reach general conclusions about some TG characters who are still very mysterious. I haven’t reached one conclusion in particular, it’s just different ideas that I might continue to associate if Sensei gives us more hints.

It’s just little things to keep in mind about these characters that’s all, because we can’t be sure whether it’s going to be significant or if Sensei is just messing with us. Personally though…

image

I think there might be something linking all of them, but too many things are not clear enough yet to propose a real conclusion. :3

Sorry if that’s not helpful, just let it be for now if it doesn’t make sense. :))

image

Hahah, well Anon, it’s true Hide seems to have been a fan (for those who don’t know, this is the song he’s listening to, below) xDD

image

So yeah, maybe Uta listens to Backstreet Boys if these are the same headphones! Personal headcanon but I think this song in particular would please him somehow. xDDD

Thanks for reading, have a nice day Anon!

About your Uta/Hide theory, do you remember gas mask number 86 who turned out to be Uta? I don’t remember the reason behind it anymore (something to do with the number maybe) that that ghoul was Hide, also because of the hair and it turned to be Uta instead. Wouldn’t it be a funny coincidence if your theory turns out right and in some cases Uta were Hide?

Hi Anon! First of all it’s not my theory, several people noticed about the headphones maybe being the same (nothing is certain), but yes I remember about that. 🙂

TBH, I think the reason was that he possibly had a similar speech pattern to Hide but, if I remember correctly, that idea was dropped before we even knew Gasmask 86 was Uta.

The thing is though, for a while after we learnt that Gasmask 86 = Uta during Cochlea, I wondered if the mask might not have been both of them, not because Uta would have pretended to be Hide beneath the mask but because…

image

in ch43, Gasmask 86 apparently was blond (which Hide’s hair color, not Uta’s current one).

However, I have no conclusion to offer for this, because Uta could have put on a wig, just like maybe it really was Hide in ch43 & Uta during the Cochlea raid and they shared the mask because they’re pals who share a common goal (I mean, look at the headphones).

So I don’t think Uta spends his days impersonating Hide. If it happened in the story, it possibly was in the sewers just before V14, because they had a common agreement about Kaneki or something. Or it might happen in the future.
Uta had no reason to pretend being Hide and then hide behind Gasmask 86, that’s what I mean. xD

“Gasmask 86″ is something I’m keeping in mind, but for now it’s like everything else, maybe it’s a hint towards something precise or maybe it’s not. :))

Thanks for reading Anon and have a nice day!

image

Hi Anon and thanks!! Was it this one by any chance because it’s the only one I found that might match?

image

We will have to see, I don’t know if I’m supposed to take this drawing as a hint or not. That’s always the problem with symbolism I guess (even if the three dots thing at least seems to be consistent). xD

Thanks again for sharing though! I’ll keep it in mind too. 🙂 Have a nice day!
