that Amon was most likely being experimented on in the CCG labs before he was brought back home by Seidou and Kurona in ch115, with Kanou’s team probably researching an equivalent to this using him:
That’s why Seidou experienced from up close the explosion part of Amon’s kakuja several times whenever he tried to stop him:
The question remains now as to why Seidou was okay: because Amon wasn’t complete and didn’t carry any “poison” that would trigger a ROS condition? Or because Seidou was in his kakuja form?
Or maybe because he’s special too and, just like Kaneki, resistant against the poison?
I wonder if the reason why Kaneki isn’t susceptible to the poison is because it’s (partially) his? Amon and Seidou both got their kakuhou from Yoshimura, so whatever poison Amon might carry may not be able to infect Seidou…
@kingkishou Yes exactly! I do wonder about if that factors as well because the whole thing is coming from the 4th ward and…
Kaneki’s kakuja (aka Rize’s kakuhou) definitely expanded until there + Furuta seemed unharmed and he’s got Rize’s kakuhou as well.
The thing is though, we have yet to see if ghouls are affected by the current crisis and so far ROS was presented to be a human’s disease only, simply because humans don’t have a kakuhou to regulate an elevated amount of RC cells.
And that’s exactly what I don’t really understand, because okay it looks like this airborne “poison” from the clone thingies is causing Rc cells to proliferate, but Qs like Saiko and Urie do have a kakuhou…
…it’s just that it’s coated in quinque steel. So why would they be affected? Maybe Saiko was poisoned despite being a Qs because she hasn’t broken through her F5 frame, but what about Urie?
Is it that the current crisis is leading to such an oversecretion that even living beings with a kakuhou (OEGs, ghouls and Qs) are at risk now? Or is it just that the Qs’ kakuhou being artificial is less efficient than ghouls’?
Anyway, that’s why I still think there might be more to Seidou not being affected by Amon’s kakuja back in ch114/115 than just sharing Yoshimura’s kakuhou…
because he was referred to as Kanou’s success like Kaneki and I really enjoy @coromoor‘s idea that, more than just sharing the same kakuhou, it’s possibly also about a good tolerance/usage of Rc cells by their bodies.
besides Seidou’s character arc is partially about wanting to become a hero so it would fit if he could help with what’s going on because he’s got innate resistance
TL;DR it could be a mix of both:
Kaneki isn’t affected because this poison (so to speak) could be partially coming from him (since it was either his kakuja or Rize’s and he’s got Rize’s kakuhou anyway)
but Kaneki is possibly also not affected because his body is able to regulate Rc cells overall better than most people
In the Berserk series, there is a certain amulet of power called “The Behelit” (or Beherit), which is an item that grants the user the power of an Apostle (representative) of the God Hand (basically evil dudes with godlike powers). This item requires the user to sacrifice something or someone that is really important for him so the pact can be finished, once the user makes his sacrifice, the behelit will grant him an unearthly amount of power and a horrendous look most of the time, but what if this whole concept was the inspiration that Ishida used on his latest chapter?
On Tokyo Ghoul :Re chapter 115, it is confirmed that Seidou Takizawa indeed ate his parents before entering his complete owl form while being in Kanou’s hold; in addition, we get an image of him holding the ball of meat that is supposed to be one of his familiars.
Both items are a ball with characteristics that resemble a malformed head, so this could be a reference as in how Takizawa earned all that power through an unspeakable sacrifice, whether he wanted it or not.
Anon. Please. Seidou is the one who (wrongly) thinks Amon is better than him, mostly because Amon didn’t give up on doing the best he could in his situation, even as a OEG, when Seidou lost hope and committed a lot of atrocities. No one else said Amon is “better than Seidou”, it’s Seidou who thinks that because he’s currently on a redemption path.
Second thing, while I strongly dislike the use of the words “sin” and “sinner”, I hope you’re seriously not blaming Amon for being forced into Donato’s lie, as he was a simple kid against a crazy ghoul and there was nothing else he could do to survive.
Lastly, just so we’re clear, Yoriko aside, all the characters of the story have done something morally reprehensible (like killing), so be careful who you call a sinner (and again I don’t like how that word), because technically they all are.
with Seidou deciding that he now wants to live for the sake of Akira, which is basically confessing to being completely in love with her(and which is why he definitely intends on bringing Amon home to her), I really wonder if you can say that this ship went down. 😉
More seriously though, if you’re asking because Seidou thinks Akira is in love with Amon then I’ll just say one thing…
‘Cause Seidou proved to us readers that he definitely grew up but yes, somehow he still thinks that there is no way Akira could like him, especially after everything he’s done as a ghoul (he doesn’t see himself as an investigator anymore, as this chapter confirmed).
See, this is Takizawa talking about Amon in the new chapter…
And this is him talking about himself:
which means that for Seidou, Amon >> himself, so Amon is more worthy of Akira + “Akira would always look at him anyway”… So, “it’s okay”, Seidou can agree to this situation, he’ll live for Akira’s sake even though she’s obviously going to choose Amon at the end………….
But Anon, the thing is, Seidou isn’t in Akira’s head…
So he never noticed that Akira looked at him as much as she looked at Amon, even if she felt like he had a grudge against her, just like she would smile at him too, even if he didn’t see that either.
And she endangered herself to protect him from Mutsuki in the last arc, which is also a huge proof that he isn’t someone random in her life.
Finally, Seidou still sees Amon as a true investigator while he became nothing but a killing ghoul…
but, Amon aside…
Akira probably won’t be able to call herself a ghoul investigator anymore so… it surely doesn’t matter if Seidou isn’t an investigator either. 🙂
This is a redemption arc for Seidou, he’s trying to make amends for all the people he killed so there is no way he’d just accept Akira’s love since he doesn’t believe he deserves it after everything that he did.
We’re passed the inferiority complex, it’s not that he sees himself as a failure inferior to Amon, but he doesn’t want to “taint” Akira because he loves her, which is why he’ll simply live for her sake while she’ll be happy with someone who didn’t dirty their hands as much as Seidou did (aka Amon in Seidou’s opinion).
Except that, again, Akira’s feelings are probably different from what Seidou currently imagines.
TL;DR Anon, Seiakiramon is true love ❤ and both Seiaki and Akiramon still rock because no ship went down in this chapter, on the contrary! 😀
Thanks for passing by and have a nice weekend Anon!
See just above Anon-chan 😀 😀 ❤
Have a nice weekend!
*pats Anon on the back* Me too Anon-chan, me too! :3
And I’m so so proud of Seidou…!
Akira is free to choose if in the end she wants to love one or the two of them, but I’d be so very happy if Ishida-sensei decided to use their trio as an example of polyamory within the series. 😀
Thanks for passing by and have a nice weekend Anon!
Hey Anon! Well, frankly, I really doubt Seidou would mind, seeing as:
Seidou ended up eating his own parents
he killed many humans and ghouls
he ended up killing Houji, whom he still respected after all these years, out of utter desperation that his plan was not going the way he wanted
he almost killed Akira and Amon
So I really don’t think he’ll change his opinion about Amon if he finds out that Amon was forced to help Donato as a kid. Seidou knows better than anyone else what a person can be ready to do in order to survive and besides, I doubt anyone (be it in the fandom or within the series) can blame Amon at all for his actions.
Donato is not exactly someone easy to say no to in the first place.
So no worries! That wouldn’t change anything 🙂
Have a nice weekend Anon!
Waaaah Anon, please don’t jinx them! ;_;
It’s true the arc isn’t over, but I can’t say yet whether they will still have to fight. Seidou promised he’d bring Amon home though and he seems that he really gave it his all, so I’m hoping they’ll go home without having to fight more, yes.
That being said, I find it strange that Kurona didn’t have a real role so far (except at the end of the fight) and I was expecting her to meet with Chigyou (so maybe she could learn more about Kanou), whom we didn’t see anywhere so… Maybe they will still have a role to play before the end of the arc?
Anyway, here’s a summary of all the current fights:
Seidou and Kurona vs Amon -> over but we might see them again if something else happens inside the lab. Or unless the Donato/Amon confrontation happens in the current arc.
Ayato and Kaneki -> vs V? Finding Arata?
Juuzou’s side -> Uta left so ¯_(ツ)_/¯ but I have the feeling we could see Juuzou again.
Uta + Mutsuki + Aura -> this is the part of the arc I’m currently the most curious about but for the moment we’re ???? about what could happen
Matsuri’s side -> no idea what exactly happened but he has a sword in his head and it probably to do with V.
The Qs -> Saiko and Hsiao took care of Urie and Higemaru, but we could still see them again as Donato could attack them since he’s not far + maybe they’ll go after Mutsuki and Aura?
The rest of the CCG (Ui, Mougan, Kuramoto…) -> I doubt we will focus on their fight against the Clowns.
The Black Goat -> still vs V maybe? I’m not so sure we’ll really focus a lot on their side of the battle, at least not until we get a look into what Kaneki and Ayato are currently doing.
Furuta -> well that’s Furuta, I’m not sure he’s going to fight anybody in this arc, unless something goes wrong with his plans.
:Re -> I still don’t think anything will happen to Touka or the other two, unless somehow Uta manages to convince Mutsuki to go kill Touka but…I’m not sure. Of course they could also decide to join the fight if the situation becomes desperate, but they’re only 3 so… for now I think they’ll remain on standby.
So you see, we still have a lot of fights to focus on, so something could happen to these 3 on the way home, but then that would mean that this arc could be as long as the previous one and I’m not sure that’s what Ishida sensei is going for.
We’ll see 🙂 Sorry if that doesn’t help but have a nice weekend Anon!
Hey Anon! Well, it’s true she thought he had a grudge…
but that didn’t stop Akira from arguing with him a lot in TG, until the moment they got drunk together at dinner with Amon. Besides, Seidou had a real inferiority complex until very recently so it’s not like he’d have noticed anything positive that she’d do for him anyway.
It happens and it was a huge misunderstanding because of different factors, but they almost solved the problem in :Re 🙂 Now all he needs is for Akira to tell him thanks and hug him once she wakes up! 😀
