“What if during the 3 years time skip, the Easterners had already forged an alliance with the walled Eldians, providing them weapons and information about their Marleyan enemies, meanwhile there were some sorts of military exchange program, and Mikasa was chosen and sent to the East Sea Nation, being separated from Eren and Armin for the humanity inside the walls?”

tfw you unintentionally wrote a sad headcanon and you’re like

Is it a good sign I am excited more than sad if this is going to be real in the future?

God dammit…. My fucking thoughts too… And it hurt so bad.

Think about this: Mikasa alone was sent to Hizuru by Paradis for some diplomatic military exchange sort of stuff mission and when she has free time, Mikasa would stand on a beach, looking at the line where the sky meets the sea where Paradis and her friends supposed to be there.

Chapter 98 Thoughts

etoincognito:

You would think the ending line for last chapter, “the curtain rises,” would imply that action happens at some point during the following chapter, but the literal curtain still has yet to rise. By the very end of this chapter, it continues to be teased for next time. Zeke even alludes to the exact same phrasing.

So supposedly the curtain won’t rise until next chapter. That didn’t make this chapter any less entertaining for me, though.

Plot points are being set into motion, some deathflags are raised (as usual), and I can’t properly begin to predict what next chapter will entail.

Snk 98 thoughts: The Rising Storm

falcon94ssy:

Honey, you’ve got a big storm coming.

Willy Tybur and the Marley leaders are definitely plotting something.

But first, let me talk about one thing which has been bothering me since the beginning of the Marley arc:

Who has been using Eldians as titan weapons during the wars about natural resources?

It’s Marley. M-A-R-L-E-Y.

But it appears people from other countries show strong hatred on Eldians. How about Marley?

Hate can make the whole world blind, I guess.

Okay wait a minute.

So Marley has invited many of his enemies to the festival in Liberio.

Isn’t it a perfect time to destroy them and spread more fear of Eldians across the world?

Remember the Tybur family is going to declare a war on Paradis during the night of the festival?

Look

What solution? Probably this:

“Paradis Eldians are our common enemies despite they’ve done nothing to us! Marleyan Eldians GOOD! Paradis Eldians BAD!

Marleyan Eldians GOOD! Paradis Eldians BAD!”

Even Willy seems to admit he (and the Marley leaders?) are “writers of history”:

So, exactly how to make the plan work?

—Creating a chaos, with many dead people and foreign guests, and than saying that Paradis people are responsible for the Red Wedding style of tragedy.

Titans sent by Paradis to crush Marley and the entire world.

Marley has titan serum. Marley is totally capable to do it.

And then, many countries will join Marley to crush Paradis.

EXCEPT ONE.

The EEEEEEEKKKKK….ah nope.

Hizuru.

Probably the Marley’s enemy in the East.

The one supporting the Eldia Restorationists many years ago.

And I can bet one bucket of squid that Hizuru has already forged an alliance with the Paradis Eldians.

If that’s not the case, I wonder how Eren can sneak into Marley, without knowing how to sail on a modern ship?

Remember Eren blended into the Eldian soldiers in area near Fort Slava and aboard a train, so he could reach Liberio District?

And let me bet more things.

This Eastern lady will keep playing important role in the future story, maybe she’s the Mikasa who is Eren Kruger’s childhood friend.

And some of the Paradis casts have already arrived at the main continents.

Mikasa’s probably working with the Hizuru people and finally learnt how to become one of the East Sea people EEEEKKKKKKKKKKK

The Storm is coming and I am so excited AAAAAAAAYYYYYYEEEEKK

Hi! Have you read the new snk chapter? It seems this arc is finally building up both sides of Mikasa’s heritage. Do you think the Islanders will attack the teathre? I am wondering if Willy’s announcement will be about a reform of the army as his conversation with Magath suggests or if there is going to be something more.

Hello Anon! Please try to keep in mind that I’m always waiting for the official translation before talking about a SnK chapter, because I never read a chapter before the 9th. :3

So anyway, considering that I think Eren and Zeke are in cahoots, or at least that Zeke is aware of Eren’s presence on the continent, I’m not sure that Eren’s goal is to attack the festival, especially since we don’t know who from the Island might be with him.

As for what Willy Tybur is about to say, frankly I can’t be sure because I find there are many ways this could go, but I really like this theory. 🙂

Have a nice day Anon!

suniuz:

Now that Chapter 98 has been released in Japan, I found on Twitter that the official name of East Sea country is ヒィズル (pronounced as “Hiizuru” in Japanese). It is clearly a phonetic reference to Japanese word 日出ずる, which is pronounced quite the same and means “Sunrise”. In reality, Japan is also referred as “Hiizuru-kuni” – “The country where the Sun rises.”

But remember Isayama in one of his monthly Q&As said the Sun rises from the west in SnK universe because he wants to create a sense of mirrored world? It seems paradoxical that he would name a country in the East Sea as “Sunrise”.

OK so I couldn’t but help but feel something was up with Zeke here in this panel.

I think it’s pretty obvious that Zeke was the person Eren has been sending the letters to.
Note letters because Zeke has been responding back, why Falco has been sent back and forth with letters for Eren over the past month.
The baseball and glove make it obvious that Zeke had just been there and made contact Eren, giving him the things, he knows that it’s Eren for sure.

But this panel made me I realize that Zeke is in on Eren and Reiner meeting in that basement.

When Falco calls Reiner to come with him, Reiner is hesitant but Zeke almost assures him that it will be fine for him to go, he even questions Reiner, saying doesn’t he think it will be enough time to just quickly go with Falco? Almost as if he pushed Reiner to just go with him.
Zeke doesn’t even question the matter of what Falco wants Reiner for, and I’m almost 100% sure it’s because Zeke and Eren have planned this.

And I’ve got a feeling it may be that they want Reiner to join them?

That may be a stretch but it could also be a possibility(っ˘ω˘ς )

There’s several internment zones and Eldians across the world

perfectackeracy:

In this chapter, Udo stated he came from a different country, which explain his negative and cynical attitude towards any non-Eldian. Apparently, conditions outside Liberio, which was revealed in the raw translations to be the former capital of the Eldian Empire, are far worse for descendants of Ymir. They’re indeed scattered around the world, and I always wondered why chapter 86 stated this…

image

…and why every single selected warrior was in Liberio. That led me to think there was either a mistake and everybody was regrouped there. Glad to see it’s not the case and Mainland Eldia is actually scattered.

So far, the only resident families in Liberio known are: Braun (Reiner, Gabi, Karina + relatives), Yeager (Zeke, now Eren + relatives) and Grice (Falco, Colt + relatives). Udo’s family is confirmed to be a bunch of foreigners who had to move to Liberio, probably because their son was selected for the warrior program.

The rest is pretty much not confirmed, but it explains a whole lot of details about certain warriors’ abilities and backgrounds.

We have Zofia, who lives close to the sea, when Liberio is isolated between Marlean buildings and located next to a river.

Zofia’s neighbor – Ch. 93

More exotic, you have Ymir, whose village was from another place and time:

image

Ymir’s early life – Ch. 89

Fortunately, anime details a couple of rural houses and what seems to be a desert area. Ymir stated there was a lot of beggars in her hometown, and there was a whole cult needing a Ymir avatar. From the looks of it, she came from a region of Marley lacking development, because poverty and cults were common. And Ymir’s ruled the business for a while.

From our current warrior generation, it actually explains Annie’s background quite a lot, and doesn’t make Isayama do any retconning about her environment. It’s quite convenient I must say.

image

Annie’s house – Ch. 33

Not only it would absolve her to wear an armband there if she was in the same situation than Udo due to different country rules, but it would explain a lot about her attitude towards anybody and her father’s last words.

Her martial art is aimed to take down opponents bigger than her, implying her father used it against people targeting him. Him pushing Annie to become a warrior to gain an honorary status would help boost his reputation a bit. If Annie said he was delusional because of that and because it was thugzone around her house, it would explain a lot of things.

Her loner attitude would come from her being separated from her father for warrior training, further implying the warrior program can accommodate young trainees. If that’s the case, she was always lonely from the start. Her father’s words about “making the whole world her enemy” indicates their conditions are harsh enough you can’t trust anybody. So yeah, Annie comes from a remote region of Marley. Probably from a foreign country. I noticed her cynical attitude matches Udo’s. Glad it was given an origin. As such, she was given predispositions for anybody threatening her life because of a strong anti-Eldian sentiment.

Speaking of predispositions, it would also explain… this:

Seriously, what kind of kid gets on MLG level at this age? – Ch. 94

No background about Bertolt’s family yet, but he had to practice marksmanship in his past, right? He probably came from a country where firearms were legal. That would explain a couple of things, including how he could turn the CT into a nuclear bomb during transformation. Too bad we still don’t have any information about any relative, but so far, he’s quite mild-mannered and his HS counterpart is quite preppy. Maybe he’s from a region where Eldians can be middle-class, similar to Liberio.

Pieck and Porco’s backgrounds are a bit too muddy to say anything about them, however.
