I’d like to hear some people’s opinions on this, but do you think there is any possibility of the kuro manga ending somewhat like the anime/following parts of its storyline? Just wondering what you thought (also i kinda hope it doesnt).

Hey Anon 🙂

Yes, I think it’s possible some parts of the anime’s plot (s1 only; s2 is, forgive my language Anon, bullshit) might show up in the manga if they were already Yana’s ideas back then, though with only a few similarities to the anime and nothing more (this is shinigami!UT in the manga vs the anime, the details aren’t the same).

For example, the Queen being behind the murders of Vincent and Rachel sounds very likely to me, especially since John Brown does have a few mannerisms that could remind us of Ash/Angela

image

though I don’t expect it will play out as it did in the anime (namely I think it may have to do with Albert’s death).

Something happening to Abberline who shows the same distaste towards injustice as his anime (s1) version did is also possible considering the current arc…

image

And also about the current arc, it has a few similarities with the arc in the anime when Lizzie was turned into a doll.

Last but not least, I’m expecting something with Lau that might turn out to be linked to the war subplot, like it was in the anime, and even if I didn’t like the anime, Lau’s episodes had quite a big impact on me and I wouldn’t mind a manga version with just a few similarities.
I just don’t think Lau will stay loyal to Ciel until the end, otherwise why write him as extremely cunning, dangerous and lurking in the shadows with an equally more worrying/possibly not human

bodyguard?

Yana-sensei has something in mind for Lau, otherwise that is just bad storytelling and character management.

As for the ending… well Ciel’s dying and Seb eating his soul remains the likeliest path for now and it would be like the ending of the anime, even if the circumstances will probably be different.

There you go Anon, on these aspects I think similarities are definitely possible if just because so far Yana wrote her characters so that it wouldn’t be surprising if such plot moves were to happen. And now we just have to wait and see 🙂

I hope it answers your question 🙂 Have a nice day 🙂

Hi ^-^. What do you think how long Kuroshitsuji will last? I’d say about 8- 10 years till the last chapter will be out. I think BB will have about more than 5 arcs in the future, and the last will be, well we can’t predict it yet, probably about Ciel’s revenge. I dunno how long mangas generally take till they’re finished, but BB will be about 200 chapters and 50 volumes, I think. But that’s just my view about it, what do you think? c:

Hello. 🙂 And God, please no, not 50 volumes xD Seriously, Yana didn’t develop her narrative and characters enough for the story to go that far, haha!

Honestly, the way I see it (completely personal appreciation here), I think we’ve done 2/3 of the story right now, so for me it won’t go further than 35 volumes (which is already quite good enough). 🙂

After all…

  • we already have a good idea of the culprit behind Vincent and Rachel’s murders,
  • Ciel and Seb’s relationship got strained recently (so we’re approaching the usual time in a story where the MC could reflect on his choices which would be welcome for Ciel’s development),
  • Elizabeth is probably starting to know the truth as of right now so it’s another important step in the plot
  • UT is getting desperate which is another important step

So as far as I’m concerned, I’m imagining what, two more arcs after this one? Three at best, because Yana owes readers too many answers right now and I don’t think she developed her characters enough that we can continue for long with always the same narrative in arcs being only subplots to the main story.

That’s how I see it anyway. I think we need one arc about Lau/Ran Mao and possibly Mey Rin (since apparently she’s Chinese too) because Lau has to have an important role, otherwise what was the point of creating such a mysterious character with an even more mysterious bodyguard, both always looming in the background?

And after that, we need an arc about Victoria getting ready for war which could be where the situation with Ciel will escalate (as I think she’s the target of Ciel’s revenge and his parents’ murderer), leading to the final arc with Ciel learning the truth about everything and leading to the ending.

That’s how I think it should go personally, but you don’t have to agree. 🙂 I hope it answers your question in any case.

Have a nice day/evening Anon 🙂

Hey I read your Ranmou=Cat theory and I love it. But I couldn’t help but notice that her eyes are the same color as Snake’s.

Hey Anon! 🙂 Aw, thank you for reading and I’m happy if you loved it! ^^ This is quite the old theory (probably one of the first ever I did for Kuro) but I’m still holding onto the general idea (that Ran Mao is not human but something cat-related, at least in symbolism) even if it’s been a while since we last saw Lau and Ran.

As for your question, well, to be completely honest these days I try not to rely too much on anything animated, even if BoC and BoM did complete justice to the manga, for the simple reason that…

image

…this is one example in which Yana herself is apparently not decided yet on what color Ran Mao’s eyes should be, haha (in case you don’t see very well, they’re completely black on the right picture and amber on the left picture).

So are her eyes of the same color as Snake’s? Honestly it’s hard to say when Yana colors them amber once and completely black for a different picture. 🙂

image

As you were saying Snake’s eyes are definitely “amber” and shaped to remind us of a snake in the first place, especially with the scales on his face.

About Snake though, I had this talk with @wondrouswatchdog once actually, about whether or not Snake was even a normal human in the first place. After all, we had Agni’s example before we even knew Ran Mao or Snake, and Agni is not what you’d call a normal human.

You read my post on Ran Mao too, so you have an idea as to why I’m not exactly sure she’s humain either, so starting from Agni and Ran Mao, we wondered about Snake, especially because of his appearance and because he actually talks to his little friends.

There is a possibility that Snake might not be a normal human, like Agni isn’t, like Finny isn’t (due to those experiments), like Ran Mao, John Brown and even Ciel (with the lineage thing) probably aren’t, but the question should be where is the limit between “not-so-normal humans” and “actual supernatural beings” (like Shinigamis and Demons).

The way I see it for now, I call Agni, Finny and Snake (and Ciel) “humans” but they’re just not entirely as random as we initially thought (for Agni it seems to be linked to religion, for Ciel it’s linked to blood, for Finny to experimentation, so maybe it’s a similar reason for Snake?), while I tend to think of Ran Mao and John Brown as more on the supernatural side of the scale.

This is completely personal appreciation at this point of course, so feel free to disagree, but since I kinda see the Queen as the culprit behind the Kuro plot (Vincent and Rachel’s murders), I’m thinking the one soothing her mind with Albert has to be quite strong in order to make it interesting if she’s the big bad.

As for Lau and Ran Mao, well…

image

I wouldn’t be surprised to see some kind of conflict between Lau and Ciel very soon, so then again, since Sebastian barely had trouble against anyone but UT so far, it would be interesting for Ran Mao to be shown as a strong opponent, especially with the possible cat symbolism when Seb is Ciel’s “dog” and Ciel himself is the Queen’s watchdog (I wrote about this more in details here if you’re interested :)).

So, it was a good thing that you pointed out Snake’s eyes, Anon 🙂 because no matter what I don’t think he’s a normal human, otherwise he wouldn’t be able to talk to snakes, but still, I feel he’s not on the same “level” as Ran Mao if that makes any sense.

I hope it answers your little observation, somehow? Sorry for the rambling part in the middle :/
Have a nice Sunday Anon and thanks for passing by! 🙂

The Vega star?

dorkshadows:

In chapter 111, Bravat mentioned 4 rare protection stars: Sirus (discussed in relation to Ciel

here

), Canopus (discussed in relation to Lizzie

here

), Vega, and Polaris. (Sebastian and the black hole is discussed here)

So this leaves us with Vega and Polaris. I’ll start with investigating Vega- there are actually 4 characters who could be under it, but I’m sure Yana will only choose one in the end.

Astrology:

If Rising: Avengers of crimes and in charge of public courts and inquires. If Saturn is in any aspect with Vega when rising, the native will pursue this vocation with a fanaticism to the point of utilizing tortures and executions to stamp out what he considers evil

With Sun: Critical, abrupt, reserved, unpopular, fleeting honors, influential position, insincere friends. If with Mars also, above the earth, and the Moon be with Procyon, death from the bite of a mad dog

With Mercury: Suspicious, reserved, bitter, thwarted ambitions, double dealing, secret enemies in influential positions, trouble with the mother, loss in business.

With Mars: Scientific interests, unpopular opinions, moral courage, favorable for gain.

With Saturn: Strong passions, opinionated, original, many Mercurial difficulties, reputation suffers through wrongful accusations, trouble with superiors, domestic difficulties, few, if any, children, latter half of life more favorable, sudden death

There are two characters this calls to mind: Vincent and Claudia Phantomhive.

For Vincent, we don’t know what kind of watchdog he was, but we know he had a dark streak about him and seemed to be the type who enjoys punishing his foes. A dark, almost obsessive avenger of crime suits him well.

He’s also an aloof (judging from everyone’s flashbacks), mysterious character who knows how to manipulate and use others (see: Diederich lol). Diederich and Klaus (for now anyway) seem to really have affection for Vincent, but that doesn’t mean everyone he associates with does.

If he himself is insincere, it’s likely he has a lot of insincere allies too. Whoever killed him must have known some intimate detail about his household. Maybe one of the watchdog’s “dogs” finally bit him back. Still, Vincent has different sides to himself- the doting father/husband and the cold watchdog. He has double sides.

Lastly, Ciel knows nothing about his grandmother other than her name, which suggests a rocky relationship between Claudia and Vincent.

wondrouswatchdog:

I’ve just updated the next chapter for this Lau-centric fic! It takes place from Lau’s childhood and so forth, with a story to explain how he became the man he is and how Ran Mao become his partner in crime.

Plot: From a young age, Lau has always stood out as a charming yet cunning boy. Using this to his advantage, he plays the world around him to always get what he wants, even when he has nothing. He ends up balancing a double life on the two extreme sides of society, but it doesn’t come without consequence. Meanwhile, Ran Mao is involved in a case concerning two very valuable swords about which only she has full knowledge. However, she has another side to her that she must keep hidden as well.

midnight-in-town said: nah Ciel is totally Lord Farquaad. Grey only has Lord Farquaad’s soul

but omg in that case that makes Lizzie as Fiona which is so cool but then who’s Shrek? And the Donkey?

midnight-in-town OMG You’re right- Lord Farquaad is like the unholy fusion between Ciel and Grey. Also can I take a moment to say that I think it’s amazing we’re actually discussing a Kuro Shrek au. Like, this is real. We are really doing this. Like, we are actually asking these questions XD

I don’t know whether to laugh or cry because half the cast can be Donkey: Grell, Lau, McMillan, Bard, Finny, Sebastian, and so on omg

But you asking me who Shrek would be honestly killed me LOL. Let’s see: William? Snake? Chubby!Diederich lol? Sebastian in demon form LOL? Arthur Randall XD??

But Druitt is obviously Prince Charming. No question. And Phipps is Puss.

#KUROSHREKSUJI

dorkshadows if people can actually create coffee or pet shop Kuro AUs why can’t we do this with Shrek?

OMG though Lau as the Donkey would make my day and that would mean Ran Mao could be the Dragon!! (which is so fitting considering how I see her in canon) However the fact Soma is always talking non stop and never letting go could do it too, and in that case Agni is the dragon!

As for Shrek I do admit Demon!Seb or chubby!Diederich would fit for me, especially Dee, since he’s so tsundere all the time! And Shrek’s story could totally fit him in a “the big man in a world full of thin bishonen guys” way.

Which is totally why Elizabeth didn’t end up marrying Ciel + Grey Farquaadian fusion by the way, because Diederich stopped the wedding and told her she’d be more happy with living and being involved non-romantically with a guy like him who (unlike the others who do nothing but watch out for their body form) actually eats as much as he wants.

And since she’s this badass girl and all, they probably won’t accept her true potential anyway so she’s better off with him in the first place and she leaves Ciel+Grey for Ran Mao to eat (and that starts a legendary Ran Mao vs Seb + Phipps fight, Seb being the bodyguard of the Ciel side of the Farquaadian fusion).

Then I could see Diederich deciding to bring her back to her parents’ kingdom because he’s in love with Frances and wants to see her again she left too long ago, but things go all wrong when Lau, who followed them, starts telling everybody that Lizzie and Dee are actually getting married.

…Which sends Prince Edward on a killing spree when he hears about it (because ‘OMG my lil sister with a guy other than me and precisely a guy who could be our DAD?’), but since King Alexis is too busy choosing his baby girl’s wedding dress and won’t listen, while Frances is already off to murder Ciel + Grey because she felt their unruly hairstyles and Sebastian from miles away, he pays Puss to go kill Diederich.

And in that case Puss gotta be the Undertaker. I’m sorry but he has to (Phipps doesn’t have enough sass).

-> Imagine Diederich and Lau walking in the forest (because they heard Edward wants to kill Dee and thus decide to go find a damn shrink for this kid because he’s a total siscon) and the Undertaker gets ready to strike deadly only to realize he’s facing the only big guy in a bishonen characters’ world and he just can’t kill him because it’s too funny. So instead he tags along for more laughing time.

Enters Druitt (no question indeed) with the Fairy Godmother (Victoria? Ann? Angela? Someone else? The Undertaker playing two roles and manipulating everybody because Druitt is too much fun?) and the Viscount throws a fit because he’s so sure Diederich is getting married to Joanne Harcourt (*coughcough*BoM’s side story, the Snow White tale*cough*) and he can’t have that, so he and the Fairy Godmother launch their evil plan and transform Dee into a bishonen guy, thinking everybody will lose interest in him as a result (because since the whole world is filled with beautiful people, he’ll blend right in and people won’t find him interesting anymore).

-> And after that I’m lost. I only know that Lau is placing bets here and there with other people who are wondering whether or not the Dee/Lizzie wedding will happen, while the Undertaker can’t stop laughing at the situation.

By the way consider this: Joker as “Monsieur” Robin Hood and the rest of Noah’s arc as his crew defeated by Lizzie, unless you want to use the P4 + Cheslock and Clayton, with Redmond as Hood?? And the Phantomhive servants represent the group of Big bad wolf, Three blind mice, Pinnocchio, Gingerbread man and the Three little pigs.

It’s all your fault, what did you do to me? KUROSHREKSUJI omg I’m dead

Hey do you think that Lau calls Ranmao his sister because they ARE actually soul-sisters or soulmates or something? Since Kuro is always about stuff like souls and death, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if they were like that or in a contract like Sebastian and Ceil.

Hi! Oh wow, I never thought of that, but actually why not? I’m not seeing it in any contract form like Seb and Ciel though but the concept that they could be supernaturally linked could totally work.

I do think Ran Mao is not simply human in the first place actually, so starting from there, any supernatural kind of bonds between her and Lau work with me (aside the demon contract like Seb and Ciel though since I don’t think she’s a demon).

I always thought they had more of a pet and master relationship because he calls her his cat and all, but he did call her his “sister” indeed at least twice…

image
image

So maybe their bond goes way deeper than Lau really caring for his kitty pet in human form indeed.

That’s an interesting thought and I’ll definitely keep it in mind, thanks for sharing! 🙂
