Hi! I saw you liked Psycho-Pass and just wanted to ask, who’s your favorite male and female character? I actually really like Akane and Ginoza. Akane’s such a great character and I also really like Ginoza’s development. Also, do you think there’ll be another season for it? Probably not but it would be nice to see if they could find a way to replace Sybil since technically, Sybil is the main antagonist.

Hello! Ah my favorite girl definitely is Akane, though I have a huge fondness for Shion too :))

As for the boys… hm, I used to be a big big fan of Kougami, and I still am but I kinda feel like Gino after everything that happened with the movie. I also grew really fond of Gino when Kougami wasn’t around, so I love both guys a lot and it’s a bit hard to say whom I love the most but after the movie… maybe Gino?

Here’s a very good summary of my thoughts about the trio Gino/Aka/Kou after the movie, if you want to understand why I’m more conflicted about Kou and less so about Gino ever since I watched it. 🙂

As for more content, well, PP is actually quite famous in the genre of dystopian animes, so considering how popular it used to be, I’m pretty sure that we could get one more season/OVAs/one more movie. The question is ‘when’ and that, I can’t answer. xD

To be quite honest with you, I don’t want a third season/movie or more content in general if the plot isn’t on the same level as s1 or the movie. S2 was okay, a little less good than S1 but it brought nice development and context to the System so I still like it a lot. However, with the complex universe that PP represents, one can’t half-ass the plot (especially if it’s about trying to defeat the System) otherwise it will kill how amazing this series is.

We have a real ambiguity with Sybil, one that Akane understands the best, which is why she still defends it even though it has so many flaws, so more content is fine, but it has to be without holes to poke at.

I hope I answered your question, have a nice weekend. 🙂

Psycho Pass is one of my fav series too! (I’ll try watch ergo proxy which inspires me) I truly loved the concept and the way it was explored and I liked how Akane’s character was developed. She ended up having a very interesting standpoint about the system. I also loved that at the end of season 1 practically all the 3 main characters were shown to have a different POV about the Sybil: Makishima and Kogami refused it for opposite reasons and Akane decides to try and change it from inside.

midnight-in-town:

Hello! Yes, give Ergo Proxy a try if you can, it is complex but I promise it is good and you will see why it’s an amazing story (with amazing characters) if you watch until the end. 🙂

And gosh, Anon, Akane’s character development is one of the main reasons why Psycho Pass is as good as it is in my opinion. I mean, basically all the character developments in this story are to be taken as examples but Akane’s… is just the best.

Like, not to ramble, but I recommended PP to many friends and some close ones IRL watched the first episodes and went “interesting but the main girl is a little annoying” and I can’t explain you how hard it was not to spoil them while still trying to convey that Akane was one of the best main characters I ever read/watched about.

All in her is simply enjoyable: from her peculiar point of view about the System to why she’s a peculiar as a citizen, because she’s not exactly criminally asymptomatic, like Makishima or Touma, but rather she has a clear control of her emotions (as seen with the case of her grandmother in s2), which is why she can manage to keep a good grip over her Hue.

To be honest, the 3 different point of views (Kougami’s, Akane’s, Makishima’s) are understandable, because the Sybil System is clearly not one I’d like to have in my own society, but I think (with s2 and the movie) that I ended up favoring Akane’s at the end.
I mean, at some point I really wanted her to destroy the System, but then we got the movie and it gave us a pretty clear situation of how fucked up the world is in this series, which is why destroying the System is useless, unless we have something else to replace some parts of it with, in order to keep Japan from completely crumbling.

In fact, because the System is such an important part in how citizens are currently living their life, destroying it and avoiding chaos as a result is impossible and that is something Akane understood a long time ago, which is why, despite knowing and having to bear with the System’s flaws, she still does her job and fights to protect it.

…Yeah, I like her point of view the most, but I think I should shut up now. xD

Haha, thanks for passing by and have a nice day!

Hello again 🙂

Oh yes, PP is more than just about Makishima vs Kougami, especially since they expanded the universe to more than just Japan with the movie.

As for Akane, well, even the choice that she makes at the end of the first episode (trying to save the victim to the point of shooting Kougami) had me ‘O_O’ when Gino and the others definitely didn’t care whether the victim would manage to cope with her trauma or not, and that’s definitely when I started to like her.
I fell in love when she did the memory scoop and then once more when she hit Makishima on the head with the helmet.

That being said, I mentioned other character developments besides hers being incredible (almost all of them honestly), and the power of character development is that, when it’s well done, it can completely change your opinion about characters and that’s what makes PP so interesting, in my opinion.

For example Gino and Mika:

  • Gino: I used to dislike him during the first half of s1, then I was just ¯_(ツ)_/¯ until the end of s1 when his fate had me more compliant about his serious characterization.
Then in s2, I grew wayyyy more fond of him because he finally confronted himself and by the time of the movie, he was one of my favorite characters and I now like him even more than I liked Kougami.
  • Mika: during the case with Ouryou Rikako, I found her very interesting since she seemed like she was the only one who wasn’t a sheep, so I was really looking forward to her character in s2 but… well s2 happened and she developed into the character she is now, so I don’t dislike her at all since she’s extremely interesting, but her character is made to be seen as antagonistic to Akane’s. The movie kept this up as well and so they make a weird but interesting duo.

That’s what I like about PP: writing characters and then developing them into more interesting ones doesn’t include the notion that they’re more on the “good” or “bad” spectrum of morality.

Anyway, thanks for passing by to talk about PP! I’m glad it seems many people found it was a great series. 🙂

Have a nice day Anon!

I love your blog so much and it makes me feel happy scrolling into it! I became more invested in a bunch of series after I started to read your posts and I often happen to like the same characters you like! Out of curiosity apart from the series you post a lot about have you started reading some new series recently? Have a nice weekend!

Hello Anon and awww, thank you for being so sweet! ^3^ Truth be told, it’s not easy sometimes to manage a multifandom blog and I’m always afraid to bore others with introducing too many series, so thank you very much for the nice words! :3

Here is a list of all the series that I’m currently keeping up to date with (I don’t blog about all of them because I am not as invested in all of them) and that I completely recommend, in case you’re looking for some new series to try :))

So these days I haven’t started anything new, but a few series got off hiatus (Gangsta, Black Lagoon) so I enjoy getting back into them. I’m also still catching up on The Breaker part 2 (I’m at vol 5 out of 20 volumes). 🙂

Don’t hesitate to ask if any of these series interest you, if you want to know if the anime is okay (when there is one) and stuff like that. 🙂

Thank you again for the nice words Anon, and I’m wishing you a nice weekend as well! ^3^

Hello 🙂 Awww, Psycho Pass is without a doubt my favorite dystopian series of all times and yes, I do have a few series of the same genre to recommend, Anon!

  • Ergo Proxy: complex, but amazing and beautiful in my opinion, although you have to know in advance that if you don’t understand anything until the very end, it’s normal xD
  • Terror in Resonance: some might argue it’s not a dystopian series but I consider it as such and I liked it.
  • Shinsekai Yori: I watched it loooong ago but I remembered I liked it.
  • Ghost in the shell: although I have yet to get into it myself, I’ve seen a lot of people recommending it, so I’m pretty sure it is good.

Besides my own recommendations, here is also this list that I found on myanimelist for you, so check it out and see if some titles might interest you 🙂

I hope it helps, thanks for passing by and have a nice weekend Anon!
