I wonder if we can take that as another Washuu Hide hint. After all, Matsuri pulled off the same cord shenanigans when escaping from the helicopter.

sans-san:

I’d like to believe so myself, because after Matsuri crashed into a window and plopped to the floor, he didn’t seem to have any serious injuries:

Hide pulls a similar stunt in TG, when he was kicked by Nishiki, crashed into a pile of garbage, was presumably conscious for some period of time after this and all he got was a bandaged head. I think other people would have ended up in a hospital in a much more critical condition.

Though I do believe this is very debatable and more of a personal preference.

Two other details, besides mountain climbing, I like about the calendar that might have to do with the Washuus:

  • Hide being good at strategizing and capturing the opponent’s territory (game-wise and in real life with Aogiri’s base):

This game-like strategizing is something Yoshitoki also seems to be doing in the manga:

  • Matsuri playing a game of shogi, another strategical game. The calendar makes a deal out of who is Matsuri playing against:

I want the blue sect arc to end with Ciel getting Lizzie a pair of pretty high heeled shoes, and she is all excited when he invites her for some dnacing. In the middle of dancing though, Lizzie’s feet start hurting and she just i gets annoyed with the shoes and realizes that high heeled shoes are kind of shit.

thedarkestcrow:

That would be really sweet. I don’t think Ciel is completely realizing what Lizzy is doing for his sake. But giving her a pair of high-heeled shoes would be a really nice appreciation.

If you don’t mind my asking, which bios does Vol. 5 have? I’ve seen the Karren one, but no one else seems to know if there are any other character bios included. You don’t have to translate anything, but I would absolutely love to know who we got this time around. Thank you for your time and have a great day!

Kuroshitsuji and the Language of Flowers

thedarkestcrow:

Part 4: Chapter 58 (for @tanka34; thanks for the request)

image

What flowers are depicted and what do they stand for?

dandelion: faithfulness, happiness
fern: sacred bond of love, confidence, shelter
clover/shamrock: lightheartedness; the three leaves symbolize faith, hope and love
daisy: innocence, loyal love
lily of the valley: return of happiness, sweetness, you’ve made my life complete

Context of the scene

The scene is part of Lizzy’s memories that we see right after she revealed to Ciel her talent in sword fighting and saving them from the Bizarre Dolls during the Campania arc. We see Lizzy growing up, struggling with an inner conflict of being a cute wife and being able to protect Ciel.

Analysis

Lizzy has been taught the art of fencing by her mother. But after Ciel told her that a strong wife scares him she decides to live up to that innocent, naive image of a girl, like Madam Red suggested. She wants to be a wife that Ciel can protect.

The flowers that are shown in the picture capture the moment when Lizzy makes that decision. They symbolize all the nice things Lizzy wants to represent for Ciel. She loves him and in order to fulfill his expectations of her as a wife, she decides to be an innocent, faithful, sweet and lighthearted girl. And she is happy with that decision because, in this moment, Ciel’s love and happiness are more important to her than her fighting skills. That’s represented by the various flowers that are growing and blossoming.

A few panels later, however, we see this picture:

image

The types of flowers are similar, if not the same, as before. But instead of growing and blooming they are withering and falling down.

The situation from before has changed: After the attack on the Phantomhives Lizzy thought that Ciel had died as well. She mourned and all of her happiness was gone. She realized that her wish of being a cute wife that could be protected by Ciel would never be fulfilled. Then, Ciel comes back, after all, but Lizzy has changed. She has experienced what it would be like if Ciel really dies and not wanting to see that happen again she changes her earlier decision. Instead of becoming a wife that Ciel could protect she decides to become a wife that would be able to protect him.

The dying flowers symbolize this change. Her earlier decision to be a cute, innocent wife, which is represented by the blooming flowers, is being taken back. Even though she’s trying to hide it from Ciel, she gives up her innocence and lightheartedness in order to be a strong wife who can protect Ciel if the situation requires it.

6 Jokers?

centipedekun:

Some thoughts I had trying to make sense of the Jokers.

Red Jokers: Seidou and Kanae

Well, this is probably the most obvious pair, as their stories have a clear link: both tortured to insanity by Eto, and now serve her.

White Jokers: Kaneki and Juuzou

Their stories have clear parallels: hair changing from black to white and the reverse, loosing and gaining their “humanity”, abuse from parental figures. They’ve both also experiences life with both with humans and ghouls, and have ties to both worlds.

Black Jokers: Arima and Furuta

Well, these two are two of the biggest mysteries in TG at the moment, imo. That’s something they hold in common at least. Though they are both supposed to be human and probably technically are, there’s something somewhat inhuman about them and the way they’ve behaved. This is a stretch, but while Juuzou and Kaneki have both “human” and “ghoul” characteristics, in a way you could argue that these two have neither, which would fit the black/white allocations the two sets have been given. Though again, we don’t really know enough about them to say at the moment.

I’ve also heard theories that they are both part of the mysterious organisation that is V.
