anchoevies:

I feel like this chapter really changed the meaning of that one line ciel said to sebastian about trusting him least of all because before it was a kind of like a oh haha yeah that’s right fuck sebastian that guy sucks but seeing this and what he did to his twin and kind of manipulating him into a contract it’s like yeah I can really see why he doesn’t trust him at all

midnight-in-town:

(possible) demons and their favorite species of animals tho’ (maybe they can feel their true nature)…

@justacynicalromantic : An excellent remark! You’ll note that I wrote it was only a possibility though, but yeah otherwise it’s precisely why I used to think that Brown was most likely a Shinigami until last month, because their eyes are very typical, unlike Seb who can hide his demon eyes most of the time (that is, unless he’s using his demon powers). 🙂

However, the issue here is that I doubt Shinigamis can “make human believe someone dead is alive” the way demons apparently can, at least according to Seb in ch138 and considering Victoria’s reaction anytime Brown takes out that puppet, which is why I now think Brown being a demon is more likely than him being a Shinigami.

So to solve the glasses issue, for example if Brown is constantly using his demon powers (considering the number of times Victoria can break down about Albert and needs the puppet), maybe it’s why he needs to be hiding his eyes.
In comparison, Seb rarely ever uses his demon powers for his everyday tasks as a butler, which is probably why he doesn’t bother/need hiding his.

EDIT: crack idea as another explanation but, since for now I believe the Queen to be the big bad and Brown the guy who attacked the manor on December 14th, maybe something

else

happened that night (remember, we still don’t know how and why the fire started, how Tanaka managed to escape and survive, etc) which scarred Brown and he now needs glasses to cover it because (for one reason or another) he can’t heal.

Keep in mind that I am not 100% convinced Brown is a demon, it’s just that the last chapter seemed to have tilted the balance more in favor of this possibility that the Shinigami one, in my opinion. 🙂 I hope it answers your question!

THE RCMT MASTERPOST IS UP

cielsama14:

https://realcielmastermindsoundscool.wordpress.com/2018/04/02/rcmt-masterpost/

I am forever grateful to the Japanese fandom for discovering RCMT and @akumadeenglish for sharing it with us but I’ve discovered that they’ve only scratched the surface of it! After months of discussions with others and crazy coincidences, I’ve compiled everything I could about RCMT into one gigantic masterpost around 30,000 words long. Get ready to never see the manga the same way ever again.

If we look apart from possible retconning, do you think there’s a reason that Sebs’ flashback was SO different from Our!Ciel’s? :’) It’s… so stark hahahaha. Or is there reasoning to it? I can’t seem to figure that out by myself. :> Thanks for your time, and good luck with the week!

Hello Anon! Ahh, this is a very interesting question, about which I recalled debating with the @thedarkestcrow when ch137 was just being released one and a half month ago (and it’s possible even @shinigami-mistress made a post on the subject but I couldn’t find it again if that is the case). :))

To be honest, I think retconning/narrative convenience is the most likely answer (since a lot of important elements, like the twin, have an impact on the meeting between Seb and Ciel), even if I remember considering another explanation about cinematic records possibly

being

subjective, meaning that the same event could appear differently in two distinct cinematic records.

To this day, I still can’t decide between narrative convenience or a mix of that and the possible subjectivity of one’s record, but

the fact that UT got those yearning-for-the-future episodes from inside the human’s brain (or their record or wherever else they were extracted from) makes me think it’s possible that subjectivity could affect one’s record to an extent.

In fact, a long while ago (before we knew what Shinigamis were), I even remember wondering about if a record could change depending on the sanity of the person, as in, if maybe any type of psychological disorder could affect what the cinematic record would show because of the person’s subjectivity.
Of course I doubt it will ever be addressed in detail, but it’s just to say that it would make sense for subjectivity to at least slightly influence one’s record.

In any case, it’s hard to be sure because the only cinematic records we’ve really seen in details were Angelina’s and Seb’s and we got both of them as narrators during those moments…

except that we also got a narrator anytime we had a flashback (Lizzie’s, Ciel’s, Kelvin’s), so this doesn’t really prove that cinematic records are affected by one’s subjectivity. :/

Finally, Seb’s record from his fight against Grell in ch10 showed the part about “taking the ring out”…

…which was also missing from what we saw of his record in ch62/63, so that’s why I think that narrative convenience/retconning is definitely the biggest part of the answer to your question. :3

I hope this can be helpful somehow! Thank you for the nice words and I wish you a great week as well! ^3^

midnight-in-town:

tfw you realize in ch138 that, while telling Seb not to take on another contractor in case it gets in the way of his own contract, Ciel briefly thinks about the guy who brought the twins to the cult and about his own father Vincent, before saying I can’t trust anyone anymore.

Initially and before this chapter, @thedarkestcrow and I had previously debated and concluded that maybe our!Ciel couldn’t refer to his parents as anything but “[his] predecessors”…

image

…because of survivor’s guilt leading him to think that “he let the best son died” and had no right to call them his parents as a result.

However, with the latest chapter and this page in particular, maybe it’s actually that a part of him blames Vincent, the head and protective figure of the family, for not being able to prevent everything that happened… ;_;
It’s either that or he realized that what happened to his family is linked to whatever his father’s “work” was.

Either way, it’s just… really sad, especially when we know that Vincent expected to die a while before it happened, it’s just that he miscalculated when he thought that his sons wouldn’t get involved (even making Dee promise to watch after them). ://

One day, I hope Ciel gets to talk about his father with Tanaka, Frances, Diedrich, Klaus or maybe even UT, because there are definitely some issues.

Hello Anon! Nope, he didn’t know any big detail…

And actually, I’m really curious as to how he found out and who explained it all to him before he officially became “Earl Phantomhive” in March 1886. Because:

  • Either Seb made some research
  • or Tanaka explained
  • or Frances explained
  • or someone else did (Klaus? Diedrich? UT? Ann?)

Maybe we’ll know with the current flashback, if it’s supposed to catch up with Seb’s record from ch62/63? I guess we’ll see. :3

I hope it answers your question Anon, have a nice day!

Hey! You know how Sebastian said to OC that he can protect OC from viruses and diseases by keeping him inside his body if OC wished for it. Well do you think that’s how RC’s body was kept until he could be experimented upon? Inside that one mysterious cloaked member of the cult, who may possibly be supernatural himself?

dorkshadows:

Hi! I haven’t read 138 so everything I tell you is based on what I read in passing from other blogs haha.

That’s an interesting theory you have! It’d make sense if the cloaked figure (a demon, shinigami, etc.) reached the body in time and vored consumed it to prevent farther damage. I personally don’t think that’s the case because RC would already be dead at that point- all the person could do was prevent more decay and they could do that by freezing him, etc.

But I like your theory and would be pleasantly surprised if it was the case 🙂

If this wasn’t against the contract I would think that Sebastian is somehow bounded with real ciel or at least I am worried he might be the real bad guy

Hello Anon! Well, except that we now know that Seb won’t form multiple contracts…

…so we can be sure that there isn’t any bond between Seb and real!Ciel.

As for real!Ciel being the big bad, I don’t think it is the case and this has nothing to do with if he had had a contract with Seb or not, in my opinion.

Personally

I think real!Ciel definitely played a part during what happened on December 14th, that’s the real!Ciel mastermind theory (see the RCMT tag), but in the end he was manipulated by the real big bad (and target of Ciel’s revenge) which led to the twins being abducted and sold to that horrible cult.

Have a nice day Anon!
