are we sure that it’s RC that Undertaker is holding the hand of in chapter 120???

Hi! And nope Anon, of course at this point we’re not sure of anything but…

it’s a hand that looks to be smaller than his and it’s the same settings as with ch108, in which it most likely was the twin who was sleeping so… I’d say it’s the twin in ch120 too. 🙂

We have yet to know for sure how UT is involved with the blue sect arc but in my opinion:

  • either he’s not the mastermind at all
  • or he’s partially involved (and he used his “episode” method to edit the star lords’ cinematic records) because there is the twin involved too but his objective is, as with the Campania and Weston arcs, not that easily understandable (as in, he might backstab whoever else is in this project, like he did with Ryan).

We probably need to go back to present time before we get more clues on the subject. :3 So we will probably know only in a few months or years if that was the twin or not in ch120.

I hope it helps, have a nice day!

If you have the time, could you rate the Kuro arcs by how much you enjoyed them? You don’t have to give a reason if you don’t want to, but I was just curious.

Hi Anon! And sure 🙂 I can give you my ranking, although I’m not including the current arc, since we aren’t 100% sure of what’s going on yet and so my opinion on it is only as of ch135.

  • Campania arc
    • Best arc so far without a doubt, because of major revelations about UT and Lizzie who became a hundred time more complex. Radically different too in general because the Queen had nothing to do with Ciel’s involvement. Action, flashback, drama, feels, Ed’s introduction, more of Frances…

      👍

      👍

  • Weston arc
    • I know the cricket match ended up not making this arc a favorite of many but, regardless of these few chapters, I loved the entire arc.
Of course the fact that the whole cast showed up (UT, the servants, the Midfords, Lau, Soma…) really helped, but in general I like when Ciel has to interact and socialize with many different people, so the school setting was great. 👍
  • Circus arc
    • Very good arc. First arc with a real depth which showed how dark and complex Kuro could go so I liked it a lot. Can’t say I was a fan of Joker and co tho’ but then again, they’re dead so I don’t really care.
  • Murders at manor arc
    • I’m not fond of locked room mysteries or the thriller genre in general, but I liked the introduction of the war subplot and the complex scheme Ciel and Seb had to prepare in order to counter the Queen’s “surprise”. That’s also the only real look we got of Lau’s true character so I liked it a lot in this aspect too.
  • Green Witch arc

    • It’s an interesting and important arc, there is no denying that and I really like Sieglinde & Wolfram but… the true settings behind the supernatural first approach of the arc were too convenient for my taste, so meh. In the end it’s Dee’s involvement, as well as little revelations like the family tree or the shinigamis, that saved the arc for me.
  • Jack the ripper arc
    • Good arc but you can still notice that Yana had not worked out everything yet so it’s enjoyable but not as smooth as other arcs. It’s also too bad that we didn’t get to know Madam Red slightly more  before she had to be killed and I hope that Ciel will confront Grell about that one day.
  • Curry arc
    • I really love Soma and Agni, but the tone of the arc was slightly too different for me to really find it as good as the others. Lau and Ran Mao are as fishy as ever though, just like Victoria already back then, which is was the most interesting part for me.
  • Everything before the Jack the ripper arc
    • no much to comment there: Yana wasn’t sure yet that Kuro would be a long serialization so that explains why the tone of the first chapters is very different from the rest of the series and not particularly interesting, at least in my opinion.

I hope I managed to satisfy your curiosity Anon! 🙂 Please have a very enjoyable weekend and thanks for passing by :3

Rereading bb and this got me. Back in ch120 when ociel threw a Halloween party to his people, reminds me of ch132 where we saw him thinking about the people’s interest . Nothing major, this just popped on my head thinking that he loves these people deep inside. Awww my sweet angel, just wanna hug him, I love him so much

Hi Anon! Ah actually, to be fair it’s not something he did because he wanted to…

image

…but because it’s a tradition he owed to his tenants. Besides, even if the party turned out to be different in a good way, I’m not sure he enjoyed it a lot considering he was worried about Lizzie:

image

That being said, ch120 aside…

image

I agree that his words of ch132 were meant to insist that, even in present time, he’s more selfless than most characters or readers give him credit for. Something that UT even commented on during the Weston arc:

image
image

…as he was saving Harcourt from the bizarre dolls without any second thought.

In other words, I agree with you Anon. :)) I love this boy a lot and I love how he seems to be more like his aunt than his brother or father (and probably even grandmother), especially since even Seb once said that Frances would make a good mentor

And I, too, wish someone would hug him right now, but Lizzie is currently not present and busy with her own predicament, Soma is in shock and Sieglinde doesn’t have this type of proximity with him… Soon though. Soon I’m sure someone will comfort him. :3

image

Awww Anon, thank you so much! ❤

As I said I really don’t mind writing them to be this long and rereading them from time to time

(since a lot of things in Kuro are linked), but to be honest I always question if they really make sense, since I’m often considering many different versions of the same theory in order to make it work with canon elements with already have.

Anyway, not to ramble, thank you very much for reading and for such nice words! 😀

Please have a very enjoyable weekend Anon-chan, wishing you the best! ^3^

Foreshadowing?

Tanaka in ch120:

image

The twin who died 4 years ago…

image

but who was brought back to “life”…

image

and certainly “went astray”.

image

Of course if the twin is some kind of Bizarre Doll then he probably doesn’t have a soul anymore, but in any case that scene of ch120 is personally the main reason in my opinion as to why Tanaka won’t side with the twin: if he’s as angry/crazy as the attack on Soma and Agni seemed to prove, then he’s nothing like the young master Tanaka used to care after and thus Tanaka has no reason to choose his side over our!Ciel’s (which doesn’t mean he won’t be very sad).

One could even go further and say that, in the crack theory by @thedarkestcrow that Tanaka knew in advance that the twin was coming back**, these words of ch120 could be a direct allusion to the current situation.
I used to think that this scene was about Tanaka blaming himself for the deaths of Vincent and Rachel (and maybe Claudia), but maybe it is in relation to the twin after all and Tanaka is already sad at the thought of the upcoming conflict between two children who used to love each other very much.

[**: I couldn’t find a more detailed post and I can’t recall if @thedarkestcrow detailed this crack theory more or if it was just something we discussed in private (please don’t hesitate to send a different link :)), so basically:

  • there is a chance that UT is not the one who brought back the twin, but he’s definitely involved as we saw with ch108/120, so it’s possible that he tried to slow/sabotage the experiment with the 4 Lords if he’s not the one behind it. [x]
  • also considering Frances’ rather odd behavior in the arc, definitely stopping Ed from being involved with Ciel’s investigation but apparently not trying to do anything to get Lizzie back (as far as we know), we wondered if she didn’t actually know (via UT?) why Lizzie ran away and who exactly was sheltered by the blue sect (the twin).

These are pure speculations, so don’t take it too seriously, but even if Tanaka wasn’t referring to the twin in ch120, I still think the panel fits when it comes to foreshadowing the current situation with the twins finally facing each other.]

Hiiii! Can I ask you about black butler chapter 120? Do you think that page we see with Elizabeth and Undertaker happens at the same moment as the party Ciel is holding? So it’s halloween day for them as well, yes?

Hey Anon 🙂 If you meant that page…

image

Then yes, personally I think that the two panels with Lizzie and UT are supposedly showing us what they’re both doing during Halloween, while Ciel is talking to Seb and the servants are enjoying the party. 🙂

That’s why I’m not sure that this panel with UT is supposed to be a simple reminder of ch108 to be honest, and that’s also why I’m not that sure that the hand he is holding close to his face with such a peaceful expression is Ciel’s (like in ch108).

As for Lizzie, she seems to be in a well-lit room, lost in thought and watching outside so she’s probably not in the same room as UT (and besides there is no curtain on the windows for Lizzie) although I think she must have been in the Sphere music hall for Halloween.

I hope it answers your question Anon 🙂 Have a nice day!

About undertaker in ch120: when you look closely, it seems that the hand is holding is tiny in comparison to his, so can’t it really be Ciel’s hand? Maybe this scene is complementary to ch108? Because undertaker also took Ciel’s in ch108 even if he didn’t bring it to his face. Maybe Yana wanted to show us what he usually does with Ciel’s hand since what happened in ch108 might not be an only case. Also if he’s Ciel’s grandpa, since he never showed his affection maybe he just does when no one see

Hey Anon! And actually yes I had noticed before that the hand UT was holding in ch120 looked to be smaller than his, that’s why I offered several possibilities, the major two being either Ciel’s hand (and that scene would be a reminder of ch108) or someone else’s hand (and I gave the example of Claudia).

Here, I tried to zoom…

image

I’m being careful though since the proportions could be wrong, we never know, which is why I keep the two possibilities in mind (Ciel’s hand like in ch108 or someone else’s hand).

Since we still don’t know what was going on in ch108, it’s really possible Yana-sensei added this panel as a quick reminder not to forget it, especially since personally I think the whole scene has a link with the current arc.

Focusing on the theory that it could be Ciel’s hand (so a reminder of ch108), I agree with you. I remember until ch105 we were a lot to consider UT was some kind of sociopath with no feelings or empathy for anyone but then…

He showed to be extremely affected by Vincent’s death (and that was almost 4 years ago), so I really don’t see why Yana-sensei wouldn’t shatter our general impression of him once more, by showing him to be more physically affectionate with someone who could very well be Ciel.

Besides it’s true that some theories about UT would explain why he would appear to be so affectionate with Ciel, especially since we have debates from time to time about how these theories (like UT being Ciel’s grandpa) are impossible because he didn’t try to protect Ciel from the BDs on the Campania for example.

Anyway, personally I think UT is an extremely complex, desperate and sad character who has a precise goal in mind he spends his time trying to achieve, but from time to time he lets some feelings out, like ch105 about Vincent and even that panel from ch120.
That’s why whether it’s Ciel’s hand or someone else’s hand it makes sense to see him reacting like that.

The guy really has feelings, he just doesn’t show them that often.

Thanks for passing by Anon, I hope it answers your question :))

You said the Ciel in chapter 108 (with undertaker) wasn’t the twin but the Ciel who is in contract with Sebastian, but what about chapter 113 and Lord Sirius? why can’t they be Ciel’s twin?

Hey Anon! That is correct, I believe the Ciel of ch108 is our!Ciel and not the Real!Ciel (that is, if the 2CT is correct) as I exchanged with another Anon here. 🙂

About ch113 and Lord Sirius: First of all the Ciel of ch113 isn’t Lord Sirius or Real!Ciel…

image

because that Ciel is sound asleep thanks to the sleeping gas he inhaled

image

all that in order to take some of his blood, which means it’s our!Ciel for sure.

image

Besides, as we could see in ch115, Lord Sirius who was in the same room and chair as our!Ciel in ch113 was completely awake when Violet came to give his blood…

image

…meaning they make guests sleep so they won’t realize they have their blood collected, but in Sirius’ case, since s/he’s a part of that scheme, they have no reason to make him/her sleep.

There is also the simple fact that seeing in which state Lord Sirius’ arm is in ch115, it just can’t be the same person as in ch113 (because blood transfusion won’t suddenly make this person’s arm look entirely different, if we’re rational of course).

As for Lord Sirius not being Ciel’s twin: I personally still think they are different persons and that the varicose veins Sirius is showing indicates s/he’s certainly not as young as Ciel’s possible twin would be (because if we follow the 2CT, the twin died when they were 10 years old, so even theorizing that UT turned him into a BD, it wouldn’t explain his arms looking like that, or his hands being as big as Violet’s, who’s an adult).

To be honest, I can only affirm that I really think the Ciel in ch108 and ch113 are our!Ciel without many doubts (for me), but I can’t really give you proof that Sirius can’t be Ciel’s possible twin, even if I just don’t consider it to be that way personally right now.

Also, since we’re on the subject, last month I exchanged with two Anons [x] [x] about a theory for this panel…

image

Because UT’s attitude is surprising to say the least and I’m not entirely sure this is in reference to the scene of ch108.

Anyway, one of these Anons proposed the idea that the 4 Lords (that some readers theorized to be all linked to Ciel) were in fact all linked to UT (as 4 of the people represented by his lockets). Personally, I like that theory because it would make more sense to have this be about UT rather than Ciel, since UT is most likely involved with what’s going on in the Sphere music hall.

So, while you could imagine he organized all this with Bravat only to make Ciel feel miserable (by bringing back Doll, Madam Red, his twin and Joker if I remember the theory correctly), it seems like a lot of trouble when we know he has his own goal of bringing back people he cherished in particular.

I hope that makes sense Anon! I know the possibility is high that the 2CT might be true, however I just don’t think it will be confirmed or denied in this arc because we already have all the truth about UT to learn about (and there isn’t many doubts we will get answers about him considering Othello’s character and “50 years ago”).

Sorry this got so long, I hope I answered your question Anon 🙂

Have a nice day!

I really like that theory of yours saying the hand Undertaker was holding in the last chapter was Claudia’s. She’s been a mystery for so long, if this arc is supposed to be different from the others, then I’m hoping Yana will introduce her soon!

Aww thank you so much for reading Anon! ^_^

Well, I’m not really sure this could be Claudia’s hand (because that would mean he’s really close to bringing her back and I always thought we’d learn about her through flashbacks) but…

image

It’s not like UT ever showed affection to any of the characters we saw him interact with, so while it could be Ciel in this panel and we’d be actually discovering a new facet to his character, I find it for now more logical to think it’s someone we haven’t really met yet. 🙂

And it’s true Claudia has been pending over the story ever since the Circus arc, with a mention at the end of the Weston arc (ch85) + during the GW arc (ch103) so yes, maybe Yana gradually started to mention her more because she’s bound to appear soon.

I certainly hope so in any case! ^^

Thanks again for reading Anon, have a nice day/evening 😀
