I want to ask your opinion about how Ciel feels when Lizzie walked away from him likes this current ask

Hello Anon and I’m sorry, I am not sure I understand your question? Did you mean how Ciel felt when Lizzie ran away in ch117?

If that’s what you meant…

I think his reaction by itself is rather telling, especially since both he and Edward never understood so far why she ran away in the first place. So confusion, definitely (and slight anger towards Seb who knew but said nothing).

Of course, he was also probably worried on top of being confused, as we can see with this scene slightly after…

image

when he realized that Bravat also knew from the beginning who Elizabeth was.

Just look at the circus arc, when Joker said they were ready to attack the manor, he immediately thought of Lizzie because he’s always slightly worried that something might happen to her due to Lizzie being the Watchdog’s fiancée.

The thing is though, Lizzie probably never was really in danger before, because Ciel is careful but also because she’s strong, which is why this arc is so tiring for Ciel: he doesn’t understand why she’s staying away but he also slowly realized during these few months that it wasn’t a random coincidence, so he’s definitely worried.

I hope it helps! Have a nice weekend 🙂

Ch 118 review: the art of entertainment

rationalkuroshitsuji:

(ch 118 pg 28 – source)

Ciel is laying down a pretty big claim, because the Sphere Music Hall is doing pretty well at the art of entertainment. They’re giving away free food, free fan affiliation charms, and free pop music, and drawing in crowds so large even the queen took notice.

But Ciel doesn’t say he’ll school them in the art of entertainment. He says he’ll school them in “the art of the finest entertainment money can buy.”

I read this as Ciel saying he’s not just going to steal Bravat’s crowd with a better pop music group. He’s going to outspend them.*

That excites me because the Sphere Music Hall’s financial backer is still a mystery. Ciel doesn’t know how much more money they’ll be able to pour into the Hall’s perks, but it’s a good bet that forcing them to spend more might drive their backer out into the open.

So Ciel kills two birds with one music hall stone:
1. Tempt Elizabeth and the masses out of Bravat’s spell.
2. Force the hall’s backers to spend more money, potentially ruining them, or forcing them to attack Ciel head on and reveal who they are.

Has Ciel ever defeated someone by outspending them before? I can’t think of an example, so I find this twist very exciting.

*Technically, Ciel can outspend anyone without spending actual money, because Sebastian can accomplish huge amounts of labor without being paid.**

**Although technically Sebastian is going to be “paid.” So perhaps Ciel has already “outspent” all his enemies…

Chasing Bunnies

There has been some discussion about this image in chapter 118.

The big question is who is the ‘he’ that is doing the pursuing? Is it Ciel, Sebastian, or someone else entirely? There is also the question as to the identity of the first and second rabbits.

The few things that do seem to be clear is that the top rabbit is Ciel. On the second row, you have a bunny sitting up that appears to represent Lizzy, and another that is lying face down. The most common assumption is that is Edward as it is next to Lizzy, but it’s hard to say for certain since we see few details. It is also possible that this rabbit is Bravat since Lizzy stands by him for now. The final two rabbits are Soma and Agni.

My personal opinion is the ‘he’ is Ciel. He should be pursuing Lizzy, but now he is focused on Bravat as his priority. For the past two weeks, he has been busy with the music hall and band and has apparently done nothing to save Lizzy. While it’s true that Lizzy wouldn’t stay with Ciel, it’s still curious that has done nothing for her. He hasn’t even attempted to find out if she is well and safe. People have been dying in the Blue Sect, but he hasn’t tried to even see if she’s still alive.

It’s also possible that the ‘he’ is Sebastian. He is first interest will always be Ciel and his soul even when Ciel orders him to stop others. Bravat and his cult will never be his priority.

Speaking of Sebastian, there is something else that interest me. The people here are being represented as rabbits and are displayed on a tray that could be used for deserts. Perhaps Sebastian is about to drop his disguise in front of everyone revealing himself to be the wolf prepared to devour the rabbits.

Thoughts?

The assumption about the rabbits as desserts for Sebastian really impressed me!

In Circus Arc William T.Spears even compared the souls to the rabbits.

The Funtom’s Bitter Rabbit suddenly has got a new meaning to me…

Ha, interesting. An Anon reminded me that Undertaker spoke about rabbits, too.

hey there!(again) I think it would be really cool if ciel just went to the sphere music hall on his own and went « I’m Ciel, I want to see my fiancee Elizabeth » because 1) I think they would be like « oh yeah sure, this way » (cuz why wouldn’t they?) and 2) I really want to see him act on his own accord. I’ve been wondering why he didn’t just try that?..Sebastian has been banned but Ciel is totally welcome there. He literally went out of his way to open a f**king musical hall of his own….

Hey again
Anon 🙂

Hmmm, I’m
not sure they’d be so willing to let Ciel see her, at least not as a free
gesture.
I mean, I still think Lizzie is some kind of special guest (the part about the
fiancé during the fortune telling was way too random for Bravat to “see it in
her blood” so for me he had info on her before they met) and that Ciel and Ed
thinking she’s brainwashed is just something Yana is going to write differently
at some point, and we’ll realize that she just learned a horrible truth (the
contract with Seb, the 2CT, something else….) which is why she didn’t want to
go home anymore (and why she ran away after Seb brought her back last chapter).

So in my head, if Ciel asked them to see her, they’d be like “sure” and he’d
fall into a trap.

As for Ciel
acting on his own, well that’s totally what he did by opening the Funtom music
hall actually ^^ He’s just that kind of guy you know? Typically, it’s always
his plans (except in the Circus arc for example) and while I understand what
you’re saying, I still think the Funtom music hall as an idea suits him more
than going to the Sphere music hall and asking to see Lizzie.

Because Seb
is right, they totally need to bring Bravat and his sect down if they want to
bring Lizzie home, so what good would that do if Ciel went there anyway? With
the last chapter, it seems to me that Lizzie didn’t particularly want to see
Ciel so… I doubt he’d have more results by showing himself there and asking to
see her.
Aaaand you also have the fact that Ciel is the guy who’s putting a lot of
distance between him and people, even the ones who are important to him, so it
would just be out of character for him to show up there, especially since he
also has to solve this case for the Queen.

Nah,
honestly, him acting from the shadows, thinking of a plan and having others
execute it for him (the Funtom Five for example lol), that’s more who he is! 🙂
But don’t worry Anon, I’m sure Ciel and Lizzie will have to confront each other
at some point, but more probably towards the end of the arc than now,
haha.

Thank you
for passing by Anon 🙂 And have a nice day!

(Madame red anon) This month’s chapter was as fun as always, especially with Ciel turning the tables against Bravat (hastag #getBravatrekted), though I’m not exactly sure of what his plan is. I thought that Ciel did it either to steal back potential subjects for their blood transfusions, so whatever plan Bravat had would be in danger, but when he said to steal a heart you must present it with a choice, so is this plan directed towards getting Lizzy back? In what way? 1/3

Also, while his plan is a good one considering the cards he’s been dealt with, this plan puts both Cheslock and Lizzy in sever danger, them both being from rare blood types and the lack of blood they’ll receive in the future. Cheslock seems to be in more immediate danger, already losing blood, but he can be saved quickly once they’ll realize that Ab blood types can universelly recipients. 2/3

It’s Lizzy that is in more danger in the long run since she can only receive blood from type b and that type has already been confirmed rare to come by from Bravat. So while Ciel’s plan is great and is the best one to do currently, it might have some consequences to it as well. 3/3

Hey Anon 🙂

Well Ciel’s plan is definitely for several things, always with the thought in mind that he has to bring Lizzie home and that he also has to solve this for the Queen and, for now with the cards he has in hands, I also think it’s a good plan.

When it comes to Lizzie though, I think he’s under the (wrong) assumption that she just another person who got brainwashed by Bravat because, quoting Edward “she loves fortune telling”, but I think there is more to that otherwise this is kinda dumb as a plot move, especially considering what’s at stakes between Lizzie and Ciel and the issues they’ve had for a while.

Anyway moving on, he’s thinking that Lizzie is the same case as the other guests of the Sphere music hall, so if all it takes is to seduce the masses with a new boys’ band (because the S4 are the face of this charade on Bravat’s side)… By introducing a new boys’ band and offering more or less the same thing as Bravat (minus the blood collect), that’s definitely competition and that means less people coming for Bravat (especially for the blood collect every week) one way or another.

So I agree with you, with what Ciel knows or is assuming right now then it’s a good plan, but with Lizzie involved and UT maybe as well, it sounds likely that a part of his plan will backfire or that things will get more complicated than expected yes 🙂

Also I think you meant Violet instead of Cheslock ^^ and yes it’s possible. Although, I think Sieglinde is onto that (it’s been two weeks in the manga) so I think there is still a possible happy outcome for Violet (Lizzie’s case is different because she can only receive from B or O indeed but we don’t know how much was taken from her).

Thanks for your thoughts Anon :)) I hope you’ll have a great day!

hey there!in the newest kuro chapter(118) seb and ciels…dynamic seems different. I expected that Sebastian had his own plan, and since he hasn’t been ordered to tell Ciel if Lizzy left, he didn’t, but the way they looked at each other/talked appeared to be different than usual, like they’re relationship is changing.I’ve noticed that ever since the green witch arc(when seb tried to eat ciel lol) why do you think that is?And what are your general thoughts on how their relationship will develop?

Hello Anon 🙂

And indeed, it seems Seb and Ciel’s relationship really changed since the Green Witch arc so I’m glad if you and other people noticed it! 😀

Obviously the issue here is that Ciel thought Lizzie was finally safe (and seeing how he’s important her safety is to him in previous arcs…) but it turned out Sebastian let her go because he thinks they shouldn’t bother if they don’t bring Bravat’s cult down first.

For me it’s all because of what happened last arc, with Seb being “90% serious” about eating Ciel’s soul, no matter if you choose to think he meant it or not, because Ciel very probably thought "damn, too close" which is why he said afterwards…

image

Anyway, all that to say that I think this was supposed to be the start of something by Yana-sensei, so that their relationship can change for the readers, because it’s about time in the story we got some drama between the two (especially considering the nature of their link).

So, by involving Lizzie’s safety in the last chapter which is a sensitive subject for Ciel (considering the number of times he put her life before his), we’re indeed getting another glimpse into Seb and Ciel’s relationship being a bit strained since the last arc.

Because, technically you know I think Seb is right, even though I doubt Lizzie is brainwashed, they need to do something about the cause before they can really bring Lizzie home. Anyway, all that to say that Ciel probably expected Seb to warn him about Lizzie’s departure but Seb went like “lol oops”

image

And Ciel didn’t find that funny. So yep, slightly strained would be a good way to describe their relationship right now for me, but this scene is not the only hint of that in this arc (see this great post by @rationalkuroshitsuji) and I’ll bet you that if Seb learns that Ciel “dreams” of UT visiting without telling him…

image
image

it’s not going to be pretty either.

As for where it’s headed, honestly it’s hard to say because I think that whatever development Yana intends to do is conditioned by a lot of things and people (namely Lizzie being safe or not and not just in this arc, and UT and his shenanigans) but if Yana-sensei wants to make things interesting and give more depth to the two characters, I think the relationship getting a bit more strained is a possibility.

Because the link between them is the contract and, until now, Ciel always accepted the contract and everything going with it without any personal dilemma that we know of, which might change and be illustrated by his partnership with Seb taking a turn in an unexpected direction so… if Yana-sensei wants to make Ciel reflect on the contract then that means for me his relationship with Seb has to get complicated first.

That’s how I see things for now so I hope it makes sense 🙂

Thanks for passing by Anon, and have a nice day!

The Student Becomes the Master

erebus-cheslock:

I don’t know about anybody else, but there was something greatly cathartic about the former fags of the S4 suddenly revealing themselves before their old mentors. It also adds a new layer of depth and conflict to the unfolding plot of this arc.

The S4′s songs so far have featured a line about ‘forgetting’ unpleasant things and being cleansed or renewed. Now their former proteges are here in front of their eyes, it is clear that Edward and company will not allow them to do any such thing, even if it were possible.

The fact that the S4 clearly recognise the young men is telling. They have never truly forgotten either them or their past sins. The fact that Greenhill and Violet went as far as to invite Edward and Cheslock tells us that those two, of the S4, felt the weight of their sin more keenly.

The S4′s talk of forgetting has clearly failed, and will become increasingly difficult to do from now on. The Funtom Five all have bones to pick with their former mentors, emotions and problems left unresolved in the Weston Arc, emotions and problems the S4 foolishly thought they could leave and bury at Weston and start anew.

With the past coming back to haunt them, the S4 will realise that this was always a pipe dream. Ironically, the S4′s reactions are reminiscent of one who has just seen a ghost – several, in fact.

No longer are the former Weston fags in any way subservient to their former mentors. They willfully and brazenly upstage them in front of a huge crowd, and are not afraid of talking down to them.

I can’t be sure, but it seems either Edward or Cheslock called out here.

Edward (or Cheslock) would never have spoken or behaved this way towards the people he respected. It can be presumed that all five have lost much or all of the respect they once held for the S4, holding them instead in contempt and dislike.

The tables have now turned on the S4. They were just getting used to being the apples of everyone’s eye, adored, respected, for their standing and talents, just as they had been at Weston. They had almost managed to carve out their old life in a new setting, forsaking the past as a bad dream.

Not any more.

No less than the people whom they had once freely commanded and semi-raised to be their unquestioning, unthinking heirs are now dragging them down from the lofty paradise they were occupying, the happy delusion, and exposing them for the frauds they are.

The tables have turned, the students are knocking their masters off their thrones, and showing them the reality of just how much has changed, and how much they have fucked up once again.

The Funtom Five will get their closure, good or bad, no matter what. The S4 can hide no longer.

The students have become the masters.

I look forward eagerly to see what the Funtom Five and the S4 does next, and how they handle all of this.
