that Amon was most likely being experimented on in the CCG labs before he was brought back home by Seidou and Kurona in ch115, with Kanou’s team probably researching an equivalent to this using him:
That’s why Seidou experienced from up close the explosion part of Amon’s kakuja several times whenever he tried to stop him:
The question remains now as to why Seidou was okay: because Amon wasn’t complete and didn’t carry any “poison” that would trigger a ROS condition? Or because Seidou was in his kakuja form?
Or maybe because he’s special too and, just like Kaneki, resistant against the poison?
I wonder if the reason why Kaneki isn’t susceptible to the poison is because it’s (partially) his? Amon and Seidou both got their kakuhou from Yoshimura, so whatever poison Amon might carry may not be able to infect Seidou…
@kingkishou Yes exactly! I do wonder about if that factors as well because the whole thing is coming from the 4th ward and…
Kaneki’s kakuja (aka Rize’s kakuhou) definitely expanded until there + Furuta seemed unharmed and he’s got Rize’s kakuhou as well.
The thing is though, we have yet to see if ghouls are affected by the current crisis and so far ROS was presented to be a human’s disease only, simply because humans don’t have a kakuhou to regulate an elevated amount of RC cells.
And that’s exactly what I don’t really understand, because okay it looks like this airborne “poison” from the clone thingies is causing Rc cells to proliferate, but Qs like Saiko and Urie do have a kakuhou…
…it’s just that it’s coated in quinque steel. So why would they be affected? Maybe Saiko was poisoned despite being a Qs because she hasn’t broken through her F5 frame, but what about Urie?
Is it that the current crisis is leading to such an oversecretion that even living beings with a kakuhou (OEGs, ghouls and Qs) are at risk now? Or is it just that the Qs’ kakuhou being artificial is less efficient than ghouls’?
Anyway, that’s why I still think there might be more to Seidou not being affected by Amon’s kakuja back in ch114/115 than just sharing Yoshimura’s kakuhou…
because he was referred to as Kanou’s success like Kaneki and I really enjoy @coromoor‘s idea that, more than just sharing the same kakuhou, it’s possibly also about a good tolerance/usage of Rc cells by their bodies.
besides Seidou’s character arc is partially about wanting to become a hero so it would fit if he could help with what’s going on because he’s got innate resistance
TL;DR it could be a mix of both:
Kaneki isn’t affected because this poison (so to speak) could be partially coming from him (since it was either his kakuja or Rize’s and he’s got Rize’s kakuhou anyway)
but Kaneki is possibly also not affected because his body is able to regulate Rc cells overall better than most people
Roma killed/ate/cannibalized so much over the years (“there wasn’t a day I didn’t smell blood") that her intake of Rc cells was constant and that her telomerase enzyme (that only ghouls have, which keeps telomeres from getting smaller and allows regeneration without aging too fast) worked fairly well, which is why she doesn’t age and looks so young despite being 51 years old.
Also, food for thought but Roma said the Clowns didn’t know who the founder/boss was (which might explain why Nico and Itori talked to her quite dismissively before, despite Roma being the founder) *and yet* Uta apparently was aware that she was one of them and of what she enjoyed (see how he mentioned Furuta and Kaneki to her?), despite “Gypsy” being sent to jail for a long time.
So I don’t know how old Uta is and when/how he became a Clown, but he’s definitely not clueless, as one would expect considering how… mysterious he always appears to be.
ohh I was just talking to some people last night about Rize’s binge-eating! Not only could it explain why her kagune has such incredible regenerative powers, but if she really is a kagune-manifesting hybrid (being from the Garden, maybe all wombs are?) it might tell us why eating so much is important to her– to help her live longer, like Roma, and like Nishiki suggested to Kaneki.
Nice idea! I thought Wombs were supposed to be full bred ghouls since they’re used by the Washuus to reproduce and give a “pure” bloodline, but maybe there is more to this and to Rize’s binge eating attitude. If Roma is a legend, as it seems “Gypsy” could be, that could even explain where she got the idea (and why Furuta even bothered to join the Clowns in the first place).
In any case, we know that Nishiki’s theory about cannibalizing could work to solve Kaneki’s issues.
I’m really wondering about the other Clowns now though… we still don’t know much about Nico, Itori or even Uta, so who knows how old they really are and what they can do (without having to be on Roma’s level necessarily) and I’m especially curious about Uta.
Also *maybe* the old OEK (the “naagaraj”) truly is indeed still alive, if s/he was anything like Roma.
