Hi 🙂 Yeah, I really do! I think K project is the first anime that made me realize that there were anime seasons and schedules all over the year. x) It’s definitely not my first anime but it’s the first I followed over the season it was being aired on and I like the universe a lot; in fact I initially created this blog because I needed an account here to browse through the tags related to this series. :))
As for my favorite characters, I’m totally biased but:
Mikoto,
Izumo,
Tatara,
Anna
-> Homra in general is pretty awesome :))
I don’t think I ever was as salty as I’ve been/I still am about, well, the two characters who died. It hit me so hard in the kokoro when s1 ended, I couldn’t get over this and I don’t think I ever will (not that I’m the only one). ;_;
Nonetheless, what happens to Homra in the movie and S2 helped my mood a lot, because two of my favorite characters are still around, still kicking and generally being impressive and awesome, clearly making their two dead friends live on through them… However, to be honest, in general I’m fond of canon content happening pre-S1 because they’re all still alive then. x)
The old friendship/family vibes between the three guys is pretty much my gig and the link between Anna and all of them (especially Mikoto though, obviously) is also a plot point that I really am fond of, thus why these four are my favorite characters!
I hope it answers your question, have a nice day Anon!
Reasons why Mikoto and Anna’s parent/child relationship is adorable+important:
She isn’t ever really interested in people until she meets him.
Mikoto initially thinks she’s a brat, but still goes out of his way for her, including making her a clansman at such a young age.
When she has a nightmare before even joining Homra, she goes to Mikoto, and he hugs her until she’s calmed down.
Anna thinks Mikoto’s powers are the most beautiful thing in the world, even when they’re at their most dangerous and destructive.
He risks a clan war with the Gold clan in order to rescue her.
He lets her sleep cuddled up to him after her ordeal with the Gold clan, despite making a “pained” expression.
He asks Anna what she wants to do with Basashi and complies with her wishes, despite knowing it could cause trouble with the Blues.
She has a fucking lion onesie and Mikoto is a lion!!!!
She is referred to as Homra’s princess (as in daughter of Homra’s King).
He takes her on a “date” and allows her to refer to it as a date because it makes her happy.
He takes her to the arcade, cheats to win her a red teddy bear, and when she says she likes the shooting games because of the red, he demands to be shown to the bloodiest game they have.
He reads to her, and Munakata mentions it’s odd for him to even be seen in a book shop.
Anna never used to eat much before she joined Homra, but since meeting Mikoto, she started eating more.
When the Colourless King is taunting Mikoto in the S4 cell, Mikoto keeps his cool perfectly until the Colourless King threatens Anna, and then he finally snaps.
He goes to be on his own on Ashinaka Island, obviously struggling immensely, but allows Anna to come and lie with him and seems to want some final quality time just the two of them before he dies.
His last words were an apology to her.
She awakens as Red King after meeting him in a dream.
A lot of her reasoning about the destruction of the slates was based around the suffering it caused Mikoto and her desire not to see anyone else suffer like he did.
Rairaku Rei-san, one of the members of the novelist group that handles the script of “K”, has been in charge of “K: Kingdom of Red”, the novel about the past of the Homura trio (Suou Mikoto, Totsuka Tatara and Kusanagi Izumo). This work, which had been much anticipated by the fans, expanded the worldview of the “K” universe even more by exploring a story through interchanging the light novel’s original characters, while simultaneously gathering the essence of this trio’s tale as imagined by Rairaku-san in their depictions from various forms of media up until now. It could be considered the epitome of the Red Clan and a must-read for the fans. Today, we will have Rairaku-san discuss about this publication. The subjects will vary from her impressions when writing to the contents of the light novel in which she portrayed her feelings for the trio in detail, so we believe this interview should be enjoyed by the ones interested after reading the work in question.
Thanks to the wonderful blueseraphima who I can never thank enough, I have the texts of GoRa’s currently ongoing series of short stories 4 Seasons of K, subtitled ~Seasonal short stories that might have happened~ and published monthly. This is the third story of the series, about Homura’s flower viewing experience.
