sindar-princeling:

But you know what? I never actually thought that Tolkien was sexist.

Hear me out – I see many various arguments about the lack of female characters in his works. But how I see this, is… quality over quantity. I just… can’t think the Professor was sexist when I read about Galadriel, one of the most powerful beings in Middle-Earth, or Éowyn, who slayed the Witch-King of Angmar, or Arwen, the Queen of Gondor, who had the strength of choosing to bear misery in the name of her love.

As I see it, it’s not about how many women are in the story, but who they are. And Tolkien’s women were all… iconic, dare I say. Some of the most characteristic and iconic characters of the entire genre. Sexism would be depreciating them, patronising them, humiliating them to show how weak women are. But Tolkien did the exact opposite, making his female characters strong and wise and loving women, wives, mothers, queens, warriors, people.

And I can’t think that Tolkien was sexist when I read about Lúthien, don’t even get me started on how iconic and epic and important she was. And she was based on his wife.

So… think what you want, guys. If you think the Professor was sexist, I can’t force you to change your mind, but I, as a reader, as a fan, and also as a woman, just can’t agree.

What she says: I’m fine
What she means: In the span of one ace attorney game Klavier’s brother was convicted of two murders and his best friend/band mate was convicted of one as well. This all happened in the span of seven months. Not to mention discovering that his older brother essentially used him to take Phoenix’s badge away. Kristoph likely got a death sentence. Daryan possibly as well. Klavier’s band probably fell apart, effectively ending his music career. The game never explains how close Klavier was to his brother either. Klavier seems chill with all this but is it just an act? Is he actually slowly dying inside because two people he loved and trusted turned out to be criminals? Does he have like any other actual close friends? Is there anyone who can help him deal with how much loss and betrayal he had to face? Why does the game literally never even address this? Why do the protags just act like Klavier never had to deal with this shit? Not even a « Hey Klavier how are you holding up since your brother was convicted for two murders? » Jesus fucking christ.

kanekikenunot:

What really gets me

Is that while Kaneki is beating himself up over not being able to save anyone, and hurting over hurting others thus ruining the chances of humans and ghouls getting along.

Humans and ghouls are working together to save him

It breaks my heart, how much insecurity he has on the positive impact he has had instead of focusing that even though he has made a lot of mistakes he is still loved and cared for by so many. This just gets me that for so long Kaneki has been dealt with this conditional love by his mother, that he can’t fathom that people would still love him who he considers a monster

Today is the release date of GFantasy January issue which will contain Kuroshitsuji chapter135. The story of what kind of path Ciel has walked before the very first chapter of Kuroshitsuji has eventually entered the final stage. Please read it! – Toboso

Two of the “5 things Toboso hates the most in this world” were shown in Kuroshitsuji chapter135. I had my assistants set up the special spray brush material for this chapter. While using it to draw the last scene, I moaned like “Ughhh…. I can’t….” “Ewww…. I can’t look staight at it …”. – Toboso

*Note1: The 2 things Yana was referring to in the tweet are most probably 1. the thing the cultists did to the twins in the last scene and 2. moths (she hates insects).

*Note2: I’m not an artist and never used Clip Studio, so I have no clue what a “special spray brush material” is lol

One of the many reasons i love “The Beach” episode in AtLA is it really shows us how political dysfunction/ imperialist expansion filters down into the interpersonal, like you can’t be part of an imperialist national mechanism without that shit fucking you over on a personal level: there’s Zuko and Azula with their problematic family, there’s Mai and then Ty Lee who was tired of being a carbon copy I mean these are all kids that are stifling under the narrow roles ascribed to them (which is what happens in highly industrialized, capitalist nations which prioritize efficiency, compliance and utility rather than creative expression and interconnectedness). Ofc the Gaang has family issues too – Toph and her parents, Katara and Sokka’s early loss of a parent figure etc – but you don’t get the same sense of dysfunction and trauma and pain that you do with Mai/Ty Lee/Azula/ Zuko, or at least it feels different. And I really wanna know more about these four FN kids in their childhood and how they found each other and formed these bonds through and in spite of their dysfunction and ugh feels about kids growing up during war i mean this is really one of the strongest things about the show: war and militarization affects everyone in some way, not just in terms of losing land and resources but also in how fully we can engage our own humanity
