Question, or rather, observation… Lizzie hasn’t given any blood to Canopus, at least not if we go by the obvious sings of the blood donation. Everyone who gave blood had the obvious piercing mark on their arm, we saw it on Ciel and now on Violet, but Lizzie didn’t have it, and even if we didn’t maybe see it because she was constantly in motion, I don’t think Ciel, Sebastian or Edward would just have put her in a bed, Ciel would probably have brought her to Sieglinde to be taken care of, 1/2

thedarkestcrow:

or at least gotten a doctor or someone else to stay by her side in case something happens. But she does not seem to have those marks of the needle, nor does she seem to suffer from the fatigue the other donor patients suffer under. I really wanna know what her role would really be if she doesn’t stay at the cult to be used as a living blood bag. Maybe it’s also that she doesn’t actually know what’s going on, and she has only been lead on and is there because of something completely different 2/2

Yes, she doesn’t appear to have given her blood. You’re right, Sebastian and Ciel didn’t seem to notice any needle marks on her and they know that this is what the cult is doing with their visitors. Maybe Lizzy’s job really is to protect the cult’s secrets and to fight everyone who’s trying to get in. And therefore, she needs her strength. On the other hand, Canopus is the second rarest blood type so it could be like it is with Violet – that she has to give her blood if there’s not enough from the visitors. Now with Ciel drawing the cult’s visitors away with his own music hall there might be less ‘donors’, so maybe it will be necessary for Lizzy to giver her blood in the future, even if she hasn’t done that in the past.

@thedarkestcrow

I initially thought she had given her blood too but you’re right there are no needle marks, or at least none as visible as Violet (and Seb would have smelled the blood like he did for Ciel). However, if she didn’t give blood then I really wonder…

what she was doing

in those two scenes if that wasn’t about the blood collect…

Maybe Lizzie is really close to one of the Lords for some reason (in that case the theory that UT managed to bring back Claudia and co. would make sense)…

Do you think Arima and Eto was in a relationship? I remember when volume 14 came out people who translated it said that when Arima confronted Eto she greeted as someone would a lover or something on those lines. Plus the panel where Arima asked Eto what’s her end game when she was younger (also knowing Eto nude with just a robe on) and Arima smirked and the whole plan that she referred to him as her king cod it be assumed in your opinion or were they just allies? Arima even cut Kuzen up for her.

makyun:

They could be, they could not be; I can’t really pick either since there’s not much proof showing that these two are in a relationship. They could just be acquaintances, they could be more than that. (~ ͡°o ͜ʖo ͡°)

Also, please take whatever I say in this post with a grain of salt.

But ye, let’s go thru these things you’ve pointed out:

I remember when volume 14 came out people who translated it said that when Arima confronted Eto she greeted as someone would a lover or something on those lines.

I’m aware that Eto’s dialogue was translated to ‘You’re here!’ but okay, let’s talk about the JP version. The translation of ‘kita’ is definitely ‘you’re here’ or ‘it’s here’, generally an exclamation that something or someone has arrived.

But it’s better to use ‘kita’ with someone you know and yes, Eto does know who Arima is as shown in ch, 86.

You can say it to a lover, you can say it to a friend, you can say it to someone who doesn’t even know you but it boils down to ‘you were looking forward to them’. Kita can even translate to ‘oh shit, he’s here!’ if we’re going to go liberal on this.

Plus the panel where Arima asked Eto what’s her end game when she was younger and Arima smirked and the whole plan that she referred to him as her king cod it be assumed in your opinion or were they just allies?

I think I saw a post floating around about this page and how it got translated (I have nothing against the scanlators btw, I’m really thankful for their hard work every week) but okay Imma just break this down.

image

The balloon that had ‘smirk’ in it was an onomatopoeia for like ‘breath out while putting on a small smile or grin’. I don’t think it was meant to be anything malevolent in Arima’s part. He seemed pleased with Eto’s answer but I think what’s more vital was the next part.

image

(I included Tatara and Hirako I’m so witty.)

I want to point out that Arima said いいな which does mean ‘that’s nice’ but it’s more like a feeling of envy from Arima’s part. Arima thought Eto’s thoughts about what she wants to do with the world was ‘something nice’ but ‘good for you, I can’t really do something like that’ sort of position. And followed up by the next part showing Eto leading Aogiri while Arima led 0 Squad seem to imply that they were working separately while aiming for the same goal which is most likely to ‘change the world’.

If Arima said いいね then oh boy, that carries a different aura imo and would imply a lot.

The OEK stuff has been one-sided so far, all from Aogiri’s perspective and none from Arima’s so unless Ishida-sensei bridges that link would I be fully convinced.

Arima even cut Kuzen up for her.

Arima was sort of assigned to do that, it was his job to go up against One-Eyed Owl (which is very ironic because both Arima and Yoshimura are part of V and Washuu was the one who specially put Arima in that operation). He could’ve done it for Eto but it seems more likely at this point that he did because he was ordered to.

Scarecrow’s possible identity

inthesweetmadness:

chiselian:

Some people seem to wonder who is behind the mask of the so called Scarecrow ghoul,so, here are my thoughts about who it could be and why :^)

(Also a thank you to @inthesweetmadness for the panel of the misterious person and for the convos that led to this !)

[just to add on a few additional points:]

  • one of the most direct possible hints at scarecrow being connected to rio and tg jail is the fact that he speaks through the form of playstation symbols ㅡ tg jail can only be played on a ps vita. also if i remember correctly, tg jail was released right after the auction arc (in which scarecrow first made his appearance), as it transitioned into the rose arc and kijima’s introduction to the story (and ultimately, the transition of tg jail into canon).
    • rio/shikorae also speaks through the use of symbols (alt codes), so that might be another subtle hint at their connection.
  • @chiselian told me about the various endings in the scenario book in which it hints that kijima didn’t actually kill rio’s older brother and instead, kept him in an isolated warehouse. rio goes to the warehouse and although the scene’s description is ambiguous, it hints that there was another presence, alive (movement within the dark). i think this was also the ending that was titled “coffee for two”, where rio ends up having a cup of coffee with an unknown individual (his brother) at the very end.

Arima’s Vision at V14

neropet:

This was going to be a post on Arima’s general fighting style but I’ll be focusing on just one thing this time.

Alright so I wrote this some time ago but tumblr deleted it when I clicked ‘post’ instead of … you know …actually fucking posting it.

So here I am, back to typing this out once again now that my bitterness is subsiding. It took me so long to get it all down too and now I’m doing it all over again 😀

The main two points I want to focus on when talking about Arima’s fight vs Kaneki is that:

  • He couldn’t see Kaneki
  • He depends on his sense of hearing to be able to fight.

The signs start to point toward this in the first panel between Kaneki and Arima.

Arima already has problems with his vision and the dim environment of V14 (night vision being a serious weakness in people with Retinitis pigmentosa, something that Arima might have), along with the distance between him and Kaneki made it very unlikely that he’d be able to see him when he walked in.

But he could hear Kaneki walking in (cue the creepy head turn).

Note the shading on Arima’s eyes. I’ll be pointing out the parts of chapters 137- 139 where there’s a lot attention focused on how his eyes are presented.

The Bracelets/Amulets

thedarkestcrow:

I’ve already written a post about chapter 111

where I talked about the bracelets that are given to those who get their future told by Bravat (here). But I noticed a few more things about the bracelets that I want to share:

image

I’ve already mentioned that the letters on the outer ring of the amulet most likely stand for the months of a year. And the needle points to July.

@into–the–abyss had the idea that the inner ring could show the days of a month and I think that’s very likely. So the needle probably points to not only a month but also a specific day. Now it’s hard to tell to which day exactly the needle points since the numbers are very small. But here’s another picture of the amulet:

image

On the left side of the inner ring you can see the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7,… (counterclockwise). In the first picture there’s a number that could be a “12″ two or so fields to the right of where the needle is. So the date the needle points to is probably something between July 8th and July 10th.

But the question remains: What does the date stand for?

It’s not the current time. In the Green Witch arc we’ve seen Hilde’s date of death being August 17th, so it’s already later now. Ciel’s birthday is December 14th, so that’s also out of the question. A date that’s very close is the death of Claudia Phantomhive which was at a July 13th. But it looks as if the date of the amulet isn’t exactly the 13th and why would it be connected to Claudia’s date of death?

Maybe the date refers to Sirius, the star that Bravat says is Ciel’s divine protection. On July 5th Sirius and the Sun are in one line with the Earth. And the so-called “dog days” – an expression for hot days in summer – which begin at the end of July are also associated with Sirius (as the Dog Star). The appearance of Sirius in the night sky in late July was thought to bring the heat.

There’s another thought that came to me when thinking about the meaning of the date. If it doesn’t show the owner’s birthday (past) and it doesn’t show the actual date (present), either, maybe it shows an event in the future. Since Bravat is a fortune teller that would be fitting. So maybe this date around July 10th will be Ciel’s date of death…?
