I’m sorry but what do you mean when you say « they were all playing him » speaking about Furuta and the Clowns?

randomthoughtpatterns:

When Furuta tells Eto, “I infiltrated the Clowns but the barkeeper didn’t know anything about the OEK and the faggot told me the OEK doesn’t even exist”, it directly contradicts what we’ve been shown in the manga. Itori clearly knows a lot more about half-ghouls than she let on, and fed Kaneki the legend of the OEK to get him thinking about it; Nico told Kaneki and Furuta different things re: the identity of the OEK, which means he was trying to play at least one of them (or, imo, both).

Now that we know Furuta was never a “proper” Clown but merely pretended to be one for the sake of his own agenda, I find it difficult to believe the Clowns haven’t realized or known this all along. And that which is not with us is ours to manipulate, all that jazz.

I should also mention that I consider Uta to be one of the major end-game players of the manga and that informs how I view the Clowns a lot. My opinion of them is that they all have personal agendas of some sort but also a loosely unifying purpose (currently I believe it’s the dismantling of the existing status quo). Furuta does not seem to know that purpose and views them with contempt, which in turn leads me to believe he literally doesn’t know shit about them, and they most definitely wouldn’t confide in him. That, and Uta hasn’t told one word of truth in the whole manga, can’t see why he’d start now, even indirectly through Nico.
