DRRR SH!! Spoiler Warning
There’s so much I want to talk about and I’m not sure where to begin. But I love Kotonami Kuon much, much more than I ever could have anticipated. So my theory is that Kuon’s plan to become Izaya is cemented with hopes that he’ll end up being destroyed as a result. That’s the only way he can handle the fact that he’s no longer able to kill the man who both ruined and “saved” his sister. By becoming Izaya, he can effectively put an end to Izaya as well– once and for all, on his own terms, and with his own two hands.
His main goal is to save Nozomi, of course. But what he keeps closest to his heart (whether he’s aware of it or not) is a desire to confirm that there is still some kind of justice in the world. That a villain like him– like Orihara Izaya– will get their just deserts from a hero at the end of the story.
Unfortunately, Kuon picked Yahiro as his hero. And Yahiro has proven time and time again that he doesn’t actually subscribe to any natural moral code.

Masaomi Kida vs. Chikage Rokujou
I rarely do this but…
@subbing team of Drrr for this cour (which is probably the same as for the other two), I’m pretty pissed at how they handled the translation for suffixes, especially the “danna” one.
There was once in Drrr x2 episode 3 when Shiki shows up in Shinra’s house while he’s into Celty’s web shadow and Shinra calls him “Shiki no danna” which they translated as “Are you Mr. Shiki?”

And no kidding dude, they know each other, Shinra even gave him a key to his apartment for emergencies but hey, obviously you can’t know that without reading the novels…
At least that part wasn’t such a big deal since they kept the relative meaning of the suffix “danna” as a simple “Mister”, even though it sounds like Shinra doesn’t know Shiki.
When it comes to today’s episode though, I’m really mad because Chikage calls Kadota “Kadota no danna” out of deference and they translated it as “Old man Kadota” which totally sounds disrespectful and doesn’t convey at all how Chikage feels about Kadota.

Chikage is actually ready to take revenge for Kadota and the hit-and-run accident, because of everything that happened between them in Drrr x2 Shou and he really respects Kadota.
Seriously, I know translating Japanese is hard, but come on, “old man” for a suffix that mostly shows a true respect when it’s used nowadays? That’s actually not funny.
Chikage is not a youngster who wants to look tough and so who’d call Kadota an old man as a way to make others believe he doesn’t really care; he’s actually a very chivalrous guy and he takes his “debt” to Kadota very seriously.
“Old man Kadota” was before they fought in the novels, “Kadota no danna” is a mark of respect Chikage started using after the events of Drrr x2 Shou.
And again, even if the translating team doesn’t have to grasp the interactions between the characters, the “danna” suffix should have really been translated differently in the first place.
Tch.
sorry not sorry
