Lmao, seeing that last episode just now, I think you
should
totally read them. The characterization is awesome and the way Narita told his story is really interesting.
Just so you know we’re actually on novel 9 and you should refer to this post to find all the novels. 🙂
DRRR x2 episode 20
wow no okay, definitely too fast for my taste.
Too bad they cut the flashbacks from the parts with Earthworm, it was building up the suspense in the novel.
Also seeing how they did this episode, I’m fearing that they intend to broadcast novel 9 in two episodes, when it’s the most important novel when it comes to Izaya’s character and he’s the main villain (I was expecting the part with Chrome to come up at the end of the episode, as an explanation of how he managed to trick both Heaven’s slave and Amphisbaena at least…).
There are a ton of interesting things in novel 9, outside of the parts with Eartworm and the flashbacks too, and even if they want to end this cour on a cliffhanger (probably from vol 10), I still believe there are parts of the novel that should be shown, if only for everything that will happen in the last cour.
- Like Vorona offering to kill Izaya for Shizuo, showing that their relationship is developing (it will be important for vol 13),
- or how the twins were saved from Earthworm’s group (it’s important to Izaya’s character).
Or even why the twins grew up to be like that, what kind of influence Izaya had on them. They’re pretty original themselves, like their big brother but in a more complex way than they showed so far in the anime, however that might be asking too much. - Also, to avoid future problems of people saying that Aoba is a copy of Izaya, I think the part with him and the twins at the pool should be shown, to explain the fundamental difference between him and Izaya.
- What happens on the chatroom too. There are a few interesting discussions.
It matters because all these things will be important for the last cour when everything unravel. Durarara is about both characters and plot, so if they mess up an important part about a character starting from now (especially for the main cast), it will bite us watchers in the ass for the last cour.
It’s really too bad since they had been doing fantastically well for this cour, so I hope I’m wrong and that novel 9 will go until episode 11.
Izaya’s Team
But Izaya is a guy who is very fair to everyone. Whether it’s a good thing or a terrible thing, he will step into the matter and calmly stir it up equally. I think I can be fond of those parts of him compared to people who are superficial.
The trio is back to the action
Varona (ヴァローナ Varōna, Russian: Ворона) is a 20-year-old Russian assassin.
