This is moreso because特別 in JP is often used in lieu of more direct ways to admit that you’re into someone. At least, based on seeing Sasha’s reaction, many JP fans think she took ‘special’ to mean that (romantic?ish) kind of ‘special’, even though he did direct it to Jean too.

If Trapdoor-kun is in fact Connie Springer Gigantified, it would mean that Eren isn’t the only character who has become stone cold and utterly in control over these last four years.
It would mean that Connie is calmly walking side-by-side with Zeke Jaeger, the man who he knows killed his family and took the lives of every single person in his childhood village.
It would mean our crying and heartbroken baby boy has transformed into someone far more threatening to Zeke than I would’ve ever imagined. And whether it’s likely or not, no matter what evidence there is to refute it, I want Connie Springer to be the man who walked three warriors away from the festival and captured at least two of them.
