Something that I thought of a lot since it was revealed that a good chunk, or a majority of Squad Zero was Sunlit Garden teenagers, I wonder how Arima felt about that.
What I mean is here is this man that hated with all his might the life he lived since he was 15, and wished for death. But, in many ways became the poster child to all of the Sunlit Garden, I mean we’ve seen how Hairu looked up to him as a child, then their is the picture of the Sunlit Garden kids in his shadow.
I wonder what it must of been like for him that became so famous throughout the CCG for killing the owl, and how much an inspiration he must of become to the Garden kids. Some of them, probably a majority of them followed in his foot steps. I mean look at Hairu who became an investigator at sixteen
and then those little cuddle muffins who appeared in this chapter, must be around the same age as she was when they joined
I wonder what it was like for Arima to hate the life he lived, and have so many people look up to him. That he would have to train all these kids to become just like him, some even taking a sadistic edge to it like Hairu. I just wonder how it made him feel to have them become just like him, yet not questioning it. I also wonder how he reacted to some of them dying because lets be honest a lot of them probably died over the years, I mean they are stationed in the most dangerous wards and because they work with Arima they face the more dangerous ghouls. I wonder how it effected Arima was he sad, and/or was he grateful that they were spared from the bleak future he was living.
How Arima had to teach these kids the exact opposite of the life he wanted to live is so sad to me, because if Arima had the choice or the power to not do I don’t think in a million years he would have done it. This chapter made me sad in that he had to spend his career as an investigator, teaching these kids live like him. How they never questioned because they looked up to him, and admired him to the point where they cried over his death.
I feel like it’s just sad that the Washuu’s used Arima not just for his skills but in many ways to brainwash other garden children into following his footsteps. Yet, becuase of that I wonder if they are what Arima was referring to when he said “You will understand very soon, what I want you to do” , because it’s literally showing a cycle of something that Arima hated. Maybe this is one of the things Arima wanted him to end.

But you know, it all depends on whether Marude was inspired by Mado Kureo to follow his own intuition or if he followed a lead that Mado was investigating before dying. Or maybe it was even a combination of both, hard to say at this point (still, considering how Marude had been knowing Yoshitoki for years, being partners and all, it could be that he started noticing things on his own simply because he’s an outstanding investigator or
because of Hide too).
I have to admit though, I’ve been wondering a lot ever since ch61…
because you’re right and Kureo did take his wife’s last name (explanation here and here). And maybe call me paranoid, but I just don’t understand why Ishida revealed such a trivial (on first glance) detail about two characters who have been dead for a long time out of the blue.
I mean I love trivia about characters (everything is welcome) but I can’t help but think that if Ishida felt the need to point out that Mado’s name was actually not his name from birth (when he and Kasuka have been dead for a long time), that could be because his original name… has a meaning for the plot? Maybe?
So I never imagined that he could be related to Ukina (whose last name is also not known) but frankly yeah why not? I really don’t mind envisioning different theories on the subject right now 🙂 Especially since Mado Kureo introduced the concept of intuition and it’s still quite the big deal in the story through Akira’s character and even for badass moments with other characters, like Marude in one of the last chapters.
However, I think for Ukina it had to be more than just intuition for her to try investigating and bringing down such a dark and dreadful organization (covering both the human and ghoul sides of the world as the CCG and V respectively), to the point that she even tried to get closer to a ghoul like Kuzen.
Personally I was thinking that Mado Kureo’s original family name would maybe have to do with old ghoul-hunting clans (if that’s a plot point), seeing as the intuition could definitely be a genetic skill (considering how Akira literally knows things she shouldn’t be able to have a clue about), just like the huuuuge strength for the Kuroiwa family.
There is definitely more to say on Ukina’s character though, so maybe we will have our answers later because I’m pretty sure Ishida will explain just why as a human she tried to do something so dangerous.
In the meantime, I’m open to theories so thanks a lot for sharing! :)) I sure wouldn’t mind knowing more about Kasuka and Ukina anyway, so it’s whenever Ishida-sensei is ready ^^
Imagine when the secret that the Washuus- the founders and leaders of the Comission of Counter-Ghoul– are ghouls themselves. All the fear, pain and suffering ghouls have had to live through for the last 100 years is meaningless.
Imagine Hinami, who struggled with the idea that she, a ghoul, should be allowed to live, finding out that only some ghouls are allowed. And her parents weren’t among that group.
Imagine Shuu finding out that his entire family and household were murdered in an operation lead by a ghoul, under the pretence of hypocrisy.
Imagine Ayato, who joined Aogiri because of his hatred of humans and the CCG finding out it was ghouls all along that his anger should be directed towards.
Imagine Touka, whose deepest wish is to be human and be able to live in the human world peacefully, finding out that all her struggles and losses were due to ghouls.
Imagine the remaining members of Anteiku finding out Yoshimura worked with those people… and that Anteiku was burnt to the ground because of it.
This is just too much. Sure, ghouls are territorial- fighting each other for hunting grounds, food, etc.- and made for killing each other, but this is a whole different ball game. Forcing them to live in fear, exacerbating their need to fight for resources, making the violence a necessary part of everyday life. The thing is, I can’t imagine everyone’s reactions to this. This will flip their whole world view on it’s head and it’s going to be ugly.
This is going to shake everything to it’s foundations. EVERYTHING.
Because I do not believe Marude is the kind of person to go into that confrontation without a back-up plan. He is one of the best commanders the CCG has to offer, the Commander of Division II. He is a strategic genius, with many loyal subordinates. There is absolutely no way that he went to confront a potential ghoul of that kind of power without a plan, without considering that he could die there. That the Washuus, if it were true, would do everything to silence him. And he is the kind of dick that would make sure people found out the truth.
This will shatter everything. The ghouls that have suffered realizing everything was a lie, and OTHER GHOULS have been doing this to them the whole time.
Akira finding out that her parents worked for ghouls, fighting and dying for a lie.
Ui realizing the “Justice” he served is a complete myth, and his dearest people were the children of ghouls. That his masters are ghouls.
Amon probably already knows, hence his not returning to the CCG.
Dr. Kanou’s rebellion against the world.
The Investigators that realize they have been fighting and dying for a complete lie. That the masters they serve are the same as those they have been hunting and killing. That they have not been protecting humanity, but merely keeping one select group of ghouls in power.
…..that they have been killing for no reason at all.
The Quinx learning that they are merely the latest experiment, and gave up their humanity to serve ghoul masters.
Urie finding out he serves ghouls. That his father fought for and died serving ghouls.
Hey Anon 🙂 Well, the thing is, there are so many theories going around that I think the fandom has pretty much thought of all the possible options for Kaneki at this point haha!
Kaneki totally is a wild card, I mean… with what happened within the CCG and with Eto too, it feels as if every group want him and I think the Clowns might not be any different, even if they’re more cryptic on the subject 🙂
If the Clowns intend to take on an active role towards the conflict when it comes to V and the CCG (because of the Clowns’ annihilation 11 years ago), then maybe they would want to recruit Kaneki, especially since he probably fits their standards with a position towards the whole plot more neutral than most characters.
In fact, they might have a real plan about him, depending on whether Uta said the truth or not in that scene.
Because either they have a plan or he said this only to see what Yomo and Co’s reactions would be about the possibility of Ken being involved with the Clowns. The latter is very possible too though, considering that…
…Uta seems to enjoy watching Yomo’s reactions when it comes to Kaneki. So they might have a plan about Kaneki, or it’s all lies and if Kaneki ever becomes involved with the Clowns it will mostly be his decision.
I think such an association is possible for the moment actually. I mean, the Clowns might have a slight grudge against V, or they might just have enough info for Kaneki to use against V, but there is a slight possibility Eto might not make it out of Cochlea and despite knowing more about the twisted cage than most characters, I’m pretty sure there are still aspects Kaneki knows nothing about so he still needs “guidance”/”knowledge” when it comes to V from how I see things.
That’s why he could associate himself with the Clowns, if just temporarily, in order to learn more about the twisted cage. Maybe. But before that he could join Aogiri too or play the role of the OEK for a while, if an actual person actually had that title before, he definitely isn’t limited to one possibility.
I do think that, out of all the Clowns, Uta has some kind of particular importance to the plot and he and Kaneki have a rather good relationship
so it might start with another visit to Uta, like it happened in TG: Kaneki asking for info and this would lead somehow to learn more about the Clowns and then about V.
Eto told him about the Washuus, the CCG and the OEK but V and the Garden are still rather mysterious so the Clowns could be the missing piece in the bigger plot. Itori does seem to know a few things after all…
So I think that, if anything, the Clowns are bound to reappear to play a bigger role and, no matter if Kaneki actually joins them or not, he will probably have to renew with them at some point.

I know I said I was ignoring my askbox, but this is a good meta and I will cling to it with every fiber of my being.
I think that this is a very likely and very interesting place for Akira to end up. We know that the CCG is rotten to the core, and now, with Eto’s book, there is a window into that corruption available even to investigators. And there is unrest growing.
And no one has better intuition than Mado Akira. It’s her defining trait. She walks into the 20th ward board room and deduces that Shuu is following a dish he wants but cannot have that is centered around the 6th ward just by his kill pattern.
Her intuition is borderline magical. She knows Amon is in trouble in the Anteiku raid.
There is no way Mado Akira doesn’t know that she’s working for something rotten. But she’s also been raised her whole life to serve this place. Her mother was from a legacy CCG family. Both her parents literally gave their lives for the CCG. She worked her every waking moment to be the investigator she is.
It’s also worth remembering how much cognitive dissonance is required to be the kind of investigator Akira is to begin with. Fura explains it well to Shirazu. They take lives. There’s no way around that. And quniques are body parts. No way around that either.
Akira, true to her father’s legacy, even works on quinques. Selects prisoners to send to Dr. Chigyou to be cut open and turned into weapons.
But she is also ordered by Arima to be a mother figure to a half-ghoul. And one who “killed” her partner.
Akira is a queen of cognitive dissonance. She has to be. We see it with the grief she feels about her father, about Amon and Takizawa, about Sasaki.
And as you’ve said, we see this idea of reckless obedience and harmful loyalty come up again and again. Not only where you mentioned, but in the conversation I mentioned above between Fura and Shirazu about Arima and Sasaki and with Karren as well and the Tsukiyama family in general.
So I suspect, if Ishida allows her to live through this arc and into the era of the fall of the CCG, her legs and her head will remain loyal – she will march to the orders she is given, and she will use that power of cognitive dissonance to the best of her ability, but her heart will long have figured it out and defected.
It’s rare that I really disagree with you on something to be honest 🙂 but I guess there is a first to everything, so I hope you won’t mind if I throw in my two cents.
On the subject of Akira knowing about the CCG being rotten: you’re right, considering her intelligence and her intuition, I doubt she wouldn’t have her suspicions, especially as Haise’s mentor/partner/mandatory mother figure (since Haise totally was a special case). However one can wonder if she knows how much it is actually rotten. It could be she knows about V and the Sunlit Garden for some reason, but I doubt she would know the details or, even if she’s suspecting something bigger than the Washuus just being shady, she might not know yet what other side she’s supposed to choose.
As you also said, it’s true she’s caught in the system because of her parents working for the CCG before her and because both were killed by ghouls, so she’s typically supposed to be one of the CCG’s most fervent followers because of those two points.
However (and this is where I start disagreeing), she has currently way too many reasons in my opinion not to stay a passive follower with a defected heart but to take on a more active role for a change in the CCG soon in the future:
Her character development between TG and :Re is way too important for it to simply stop there.
We went from cold!Akira who couldn’t do anything but worry for Amon during the Anteiku raid arc to her leaving her position as squad leader in the auction arc to go search for Haise because she was worried for him.
We also went in the Haise/Akira dynamics from her enforcing the Haise identity on him in the first arc to her acknowledging that names weren’t anything important when it came to Haise’s true identity, so this makes me think that she’s able to change constantly because she follows her heart and not the CCG’s discourse (you said it yourself, she didn’t hold
Amon’s “death” against Haise probably because she came to know him better during these 3-4 years).
Her many links to characters who were ousted (lacking a better term) by the CCG and who are aware of the reality of things probably better than she is.
Namely Amon, Seidou and at the end of the current arc probably Haise/Kaneki as well and that’s the most important point for me.
I mean, it’s obvious (and you said it well) that Akira joined the CCG in the first place because of her parents (as she said to Amon, she wanted to hurry and grow up so she and her dad could avenge her mom together), but that’s the thing, her parents are dead now and since then she formed new bonds, and 3 of the most significant being to one eyed ghouls, who all know better than her that the CCG is rotten to the core.
What Akira fears is to be left alone (she’s like Touka on this aspect, and that’s funny considering how deeply they’re linked) and so far it was easy to keep on fighting ghouls for the sake of the people she loved and lost as she only felt like Amon and Seidou were alive with no certainty (the extra of TG vol 14). Until she saw Seidou during the Auction arc that is.
However, now that it’s Haise/Kaneki’s turn as well, it might be the last straw for her (maybe pushing her to really reflect on everything), especially if she meets with Amon on Rushima as many theorized.
Her intuition (and it made me smile when you called it “magical” because for me it’s pure genetics xD)
This point is completely theorethical but, considering how impressive her intuition is and how her dad was the same, I feel the situation is similar to Takeomi’s huge strength that he got from his dad. Of course like that it doesn’t seem important, but I think it plays a role towards the Washuu family.
We know the Washuus are an old ghoul hunting clan who associated with V 100 years ago, but they were not the only ghoul hunting clan back in the days and I always found curious how no one ever briefly mentioned the other clans.
So, considering the Kuroiwas and Akira and her dad, I think those four might be remnants of two other old clans, but that the Washuus most likely erased the other bloodlines when they allied with V, so they could get supremacy over the human side of the world (that or simply the other ghoul hunting clans didn’t want to ally with V, leaving the Washuus no choice).
I have no idea if this point will make sense to you, but if this little idea is correct, that could create a peculiar situation between Akira & Takeomi vs the Washuu family, especially since the CCG needs an internal change (the Washuus are the core of the organization but they are just hiding way too much). However for things to change, we need a few members to give the example to others and open a different path and I think Akira is one of those people, if just because too many characters she’s strongly associated with joined a side more or less opposed to the CCG (because of V and the Garden).
And besides, I just can’t imagine the CCG staying an obviously rotten organization with no possibility of amelioration, especially when we know that a part of the organization isn’t inherently bad (or unless there is a schism at some point). Taking Akira’s example (or Shinohara or even Amon back in TG), she might not like ghouls but she’s not as sadistic as her dad was, and so I could see Ishida giving her a path different from her parents’ (who lost their lives, her mom for following the CCG’s ideals and her dad for revenge) simply because she’s definitely not her parents.
There, I think that’s basically what I wanted to point out. Sorry if this is slightly rushed or doesn’t make sense but I didn’t have much time.
Also just know that I’m not trying to change your mind with this (and feel free not to answer, etc), especially since it seems we don’t conceive her character the same way, but to read about a different opinion never hurts, if just for argument’s sake. 🙂
Ah well, I believe the current arc will answer your question of whether Arima can be beaten or not. Personally I think that if it’s Kaneki then it can be done, even if I don’t know if Kaneki will need help (from Eto for example) or not in order to do that (otherwise if Kaneki isn’t strong enough to face him then I really wonder what this arc was building to).
As for your other question about Arima: yes those drawings were actual foreshadowing because it was confirmed by both Shachi (:Re 65) and Kaneki (:Re 73) that there is something wrong with Arima’s right eye. 🙂
And I also think that the OEK really doesn’t have to be a OEG considering how many OEGs there are in the stories, haha! Especially if it’s Arima I think, and especially since after believing it was Eto, readers are indeed expecting a OEG to be the OEK Eto mentioned, which is why it’s the perfect opportunity for Ishida to surprise us. 🙂
I personally have my own theory about Arima’s eyes and why he might have a problem with his right eye, and if he’s indeed the OEK, then I’m thinking he can be either a OEG (like Furuta, and in that case V knows about Furuta being a OEG) or
an artificially enhanced being due to the experiments done in the Sunlit Garden (and in that case, V might not know that Furuta is a OEG probably thanks to Kanou, more on that here).

I think about this often, and in my opinion it’ll all depend on if Kaneki escapes the CCG or not
If Kaneki escapes Cochlea, the CCG will do everything in their power to either kill or recapture Kaneki; the latter the more likely option of the two. Kaneki is better off being useful to the CCG in any manner
— be it as a quinque provider, an Arata substitute, or an information provider like Donato
— rather than running loose on the streets as a powerful SSS rated ghoul riling up the ghoul masses, especially with the loss of their first reaper
(Personally though, I’m kinda placing my money on Arima being debilitated somehow, like losing his arms or legs. It would leave a worse effect on the CCG as their “god” isn’t so godly anymore, Arima would be out of commission, and it could lead to Arima character development, and away from just killing off characters)
And if word does get out that Kaneki did cause a breakout and escaped the CCG, I can only imagine how upset people would be, especially Saiko and Akira (unsure of Tooru at the moment, we need to see his character development after this Torso ordeal)
However, if Kaneki doesn’t escape Cochlea, I feel like the main body of the CCG will never know about Kaneki’s hand in a possible Cochlea intrusion. If you think about it, Kaneki really hasn’t had a huge part in the breakout, he just opened a few cell doors before proceeding to Hinami’s cell. Ayato’s group was the one who opened the spy hole at the top of Cochlea and fought their way inside in army fashion. Right now the only ones who know of Kaneki’s betrayal are the Cochlea staff, Arima Kishou, the :re crew, and Yoshitoki on the boat. Yoshitoki has made Kaneki’s betrayal unknown to the main mass of the CCG:
and if they capture Kaneki they may keep it that way.
Kaneki has had one wish this arc, and it is to be remembered. I wouldn’t be surprised if the CCG pulled another “erased” card on Haise:
and has Haise Sasaki be the tragic hero of Cochlea who lost his life in defense of the CCG. And as :re is a “fucked-up comedy,” Kaneki will be remembered, for a short while, before slowly fading into the background noise as the legendary half-ghoul of the CCG.
Kaneki will have the legacy he was looking for, and the CCG will still have the ghoul’s Queen chess piece

Hmm, before I answer, here’s what we know about the Sunlit Garden and V:
“V” is made of ghouls (Yoshimura’s example and he did say V was a ghoul organization) and the Kaiko guy also probably went through the Garden according to Furuta (ch63)
Human children are raised (Hairu, and that Chinese Qs whose name I can’t manage to remember correctly)
Ghoul children are raised (Rize, she had two kakugans so she was, as far as we know, a full-fledged ghoul, she might have been the only one or not)
And there is Furuta, whose daddy is probably Washuu Yoshitoki and who was revealed to be a OEG in the last chapters (lol, but we knew since the last arc already)
On the subject of Furuta though, I don’t know if V knows he’s a OEG actually (otherwise why wait until he was the last survivor against Eto to use his trump cards, even if he doesn’t like fighting?), and maybe he became one because of Kanou since he’s been working with him for a long time… Honestly I don’t know for sure but it’s possible at this point.
Here’s the thing though, despite these characters we know all coming from the Garden, it seems not all of them belong to V (example of Hairu who could have been from V but she was a human + she would have known about Furuta’s strength then and it didn’t seem to be the case).
Then about our mysterious Arima:
we know he’s a part of V
he’s a strong ally of the Washuus and he’s the best of the CCG
he’s been hinted at being a OEG and possibly the OEK because of his right eye always being shadowed (though since recently it could be just because of his eye condition) and a few other hints in TG.
he might have gone through the Sunlit Garden himself, because of Hairu’s memory and because of that tiny flashback…
(the person with him could be Washuu Tsuneyoshi by the way)
Considering Kanou’s words:
I’m thinking that “forced hybridization” is exactly what V (and the Washuus) are doing in the Sunlit Garden and Arima could also be a result of that, simply because we know OEGs/hybrids are stronger than full-fledged ghouls and normal humans, and that could also be how Kanou got the idea to create his own OEGs in order to break free from “the twisted cage”.
So yeah, Arima could be a OEG (and maybe even the OEK) if V are really creating them through forced hybridization, though personally, considering the important number of OEG characters in the story (including the Qs), I’m hoping Arima is rather an artificially enhanced being which would explain his strength (and in that case, V truly don’t know about Furuta being a OEG thanks to Kanou). He’s definitely supposed to be the CCG and V’s greatest weapon in any case, and so his job is to kill ghouls if he’s asked.
Honestly at this point, I’m rooting for the two theories (OEG!Arima + artificially enhanced human!Arima). 🙂
I’m pretty sure we have tons of things to learn about Arima, Furuta, Rize and what happened to them in the Sunlit Garden actually, because I doubt the “twisted cage” is just about the alliance between V and the Washuus honestly.
First there is the Garden but also the whole “forced hybridization” concept and I believe maybe the Washuus are hiding something else as an old ghoul-hunting Clan/bloodline of warriors.
We know they were one powerful Clan out of many and yet it seems the other clans all disappeared (except maybe for two characters/families for whom I’m hoping they will realize what’s going on if that’s the case), so maybe, while V took the power over the ghoul side of the world, the Washuus eliminated the other Clans in order to ally with V and have the full power over the human side of the world.
It’s just a theory at this point, but in any case I’m thinking Arima is the result of many experiments of hybridization and probably experiments on the Washuu bloodline too (though the idea that he could be a descendant of that strong OEG 100 years ago is also nice, albeit a bit cliché for me) and he is definitely an artificially enhanced being, if not a OEG like Furuta, created to work for V and the Washuus.

Ok so on my Fourth time reading through the latest chapter I noticed something strange about Furuta’s gestures other than him just being his natural Furuta self, the gestures had reminded me of something I had seen before. And I’m sure many others have seen,
the three wise monkeys
See no evil
Speak no evil
Hear no evil
In the latest chapter Furuta actually does all three gestures to see no evil, speak no evil, hear no evil. I understood that the origin of the three wise monkeys is Japan so I was sure it wasn’t a coincidence. At first I had a hard time determining what it could all mean outside of it’s literally meaning so I had a talk with @therabbitoracle and @smol-kitten-furuta to discuss in hopes of getting a better understanding.
Just as there is disagreement about the origin of the phrase, there are differing explanations of the meaning of “see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil.”
In Buddhist tradition, the tenets of the proverb are about not dwelling on evil thoughts.
In the Western world both the proverb and the image are often used to refer to a lack of moral responsibility on the part of people who refuse to acknowledge impropriety, looking the other way or feigning ignorance.
It may also signify a code of silence in gangs, or organized crime.
I believe this was a good explaination for why Ishida would make Furuta make these gestures especially the part about lack of moral responsibility, refuses to acknowledge impropriety, looking the other way and feigning ignorance. This is something we see Furuta do A LOT. You could say it’s a major part of his characterization but he displays all these traits in the latest chapter back to back.

And another interesting part is the Buddhist traditional meaning of it not dwelling on bad thoughts.
(And yet is seems Furuta struggles with that this chapter with some of his strange lines.)

When he complains about having to fight.
It is strange but those scenes did not feel like the Furuta we are use to. Through all his acting and clowning these parts felt somewhat genuine (which made me feel a little uneasy.He sounds like a small child or something.)
And then lastly his word to Eto vs his actual thoughts “let’s solve this peacefully.”
vs. “let’s slaughter them like animals”
Everything he’s doing strongly resonates with the three wise monkeys. He fits the western definition perfectly but when it comes to the Buddhist teaching Furuta tries to have this mindset with his “Shake off the past and dash.” gimmick. But can not help but to dwell on it every now and again. I think the fight with Eto might’ve made some things re-emerge especially being told to fight by members of V.
Still it was a nice reference for Ishida to throw in since everything the three wise monkeys stands for connects well with Furuta actions this chapter.
Shortly before Saturday, I compiled a list of new theories regarding those above mentioned points, with the suggestions and theories of wildnymeria and nessidy. Enjoy!
In chapter 75 again, all V members displayed in this panel lack hair and their eyes are never seen either.
Kaiko resembles them in those aspects as well.
Additionally, in chapter 96 “Going Underground” Kaneki and his group encounter a failed experiment of Kanou’s. His own kagune was devouring him.
Not only do those V members resememble that particular experiment, but pretty every experiment Kanou worked on, with the exception that V members have more self-control and self-consciouss than them. Notably some do have some hair left, but even those are starting to fall off their head.
Their physical resemblence is not the only reason why I mention that, though, but first things first.
In the same chapter, Kanou talks with Kaneki about the hidden reality, which we know now is V. Interestingly, when Kanou is talking about them, a drawing of containers gets a considerable amount of focus.
And thanks to Furuta’s flashback in chapter 66, we know that Sunlit Garden also serves as a breeding facility.
With that being said, I want to drift a bit away from this theory and focus on important characters. In order to back up my my claim, let’s review Kanou, Chigyou and… “thad doctor.” (I have no idea what his name is, I apologise)
Akira mentions in chapter one that the Quinx, mere experiments, were created in order to surpass the “Death God of the CCG.” She also points out that Aogiri obtained a lot of power in those three years and if we take into account how many investigators the CCG lost in those years, the only solution “they” saw was producing empowered investigators with relation to ghouls, in this case quinques. This is rather a pecluiar situation as the CCG, which ideology consists of the superiority of man, uses parts, in this case, kagunes of ghouls, in order to achieve a higher success rate in regards to annihilating them. People like the Hirako squad, but also Ui and Marude, were quite baffeled by this concept and rightfully so.
Throghout the course of months, the CCG made further blood tests for suitable participants as well and choose Hsiao, Aura and Touma in the end.
If we consider that V focuses on creating the strongest soldiers, it could be very well be that the CCG served as a transation or expansion of experiments that V concentrates on . After all, the Washuus are with a high probability the puppets of V and Yoshitoki, Akira and Sasaki were the primary overseeres for that project.
Moreover, Chigyuu is an interesting case as well, although he might only play a small part in it. Nevertheless, Chigyou came up with the Quinx project but strangely we didn’t see him at all (at least I can’t remember it). But what is more interesting is that he worked for the GFG (Ghoulforschungsgesellschaft), a German research organisation.
Now, that we established that CCG and V are cooperating together in order to create empowered investigators with the help of mixing ghouls, it is rather peculiar that Kanou does a similar, if probably not the same, project as the CCG and possibly V.
Kuroiwa, mentioned this in chapter 108.
Physical resemblences aside, he could be very well be Adam Gehner, who along with Yoshiu Washuu, Tsuneyoshi’s father, was responsible for the invention of the quinque and worked in the GFG. Interestingly, the chapter they are the very first time mentioned in was called “Sheep and Master: Examination and Corpses.”
If we take a look at Kanou’s history one more time, it is mentioned that Kanou worked for the GFGa certain amount of time, just like Chigyou did. Both of them are revolutionaries in their field, with Chigyou inventing the quinx and Kanou producing artificial half-ghouls. I do not think it is a coincide, if at all.
Furthermore, let’s take a look at the Sphinx Company, lastly run by the late Yasuhisa Nanao.
To put it bluntly, the company bought liquid solutions mostly from foreign countries. And I am content that one country might very well be that of Germany.
What I am now going to write is due to nessidy’s suggestion and therefore the credit goes to her.
As stated by Eto, the CCG was the one who owned that property. But until now, there is no reason for the CCG to use those liquid solutions (the Quinx at that time didn’t exist either). That’s why there is a possibility that the buyer for those liquids was actually V, not the CCG. Considering the ambiguity in regards to their species, it could be also that V used those bottles for the bred children in order to enhance their prowess. And it would be unwise for V to be the official owner of it as it could be easily traced back to them.
Thanks to wildnymeria’s suggestion and thus the credit goes to her, if we also go back to Kanou again, and realise that he worked for the GFG as well as the CCG, it could be that he also he very well might have worked with V as well, which might explain why he has such an extensive knowledge of them and how they operate, although it might also be that V does operate similarly as the GFG. In fact, I would say that the GFG and V, as seeing that the Washuu’s and Gehners had close relations, work together closely.
One last point about the One-eyed ghoul issue. While this has the least back up for my claim, I will try to explain it nonethless. Many people assume that V holds a grudge against one-eyed ghouls as they disrupt the balance of the quilibrium, ghouls and humans. But thinking about it more thoroughly, I quite doubt that.
If we consider V’s breeding program, Arima’s, Furuta’s and in my opinion even Hairu’s ambiguity as a species, it could be very well that V tries to forcefully produce half ghouls themselves, and thanks to nessidy, those very liquid soltuions we were talking about earlier might have helped to mix more ghoul blood in. I would also dare to say that half ghouls are actually preferred as long as they are within the grasp of V.
