Some more thoughts about Shemihaza’s and Armumahel’s nephilims

midnight-in-town:

I was rereading the last chapter again earlier this week and…

image

While Azazel’s nephilim blood line disappeared, I think we can trust Lightning’s words that Shemihaza’s and Armumahel’s are still alive and represent the Grigori.

Last time, I conjectured that maybe Shiemi was one of Shemihaza’s nephilims (see here), with maybe her mom being the “current Shemihaza” which would explain why she said…

image

Because if the order always needs someone from Shiemi’s family to take on Shemihaza’s position, there is a lot of chance they cannot choose to do anything else in life, which is why Shiemi resigned and ended up saying she didn’t want to become an exorcist anymore.

image

And by “inheriting the exorcist shop” she means also inheriting the Grigori position once her mom will have to be replaced?

Anyway, these are my current thoughts on Shiemi.
Which leaves Armumahel and their nephilim blood line.

The issue is the same as with Shiemi: Mephisto probably knows about Shiemi’s origins and if she’s indeed related to Shemihaza, and so there is a possibility he also knows who Armumahel’s current nephilims are.

Speaking of which, we still don’t know a lot…

image

…about Takara. In fact I think that what’s above is basically all that we know, besides the fact that his family…

image

is “owned” by Mephisto.

Ah and one other thing, does anyone remember his fight against Shima?

image
image
image
image
image

While I still can’t say if the puppet is a demon or not, the fact is that the “Takara” we know is in fact this puppet because the real Takara Nemu carrying the puppet is sleeping almost 100% of the time in order not to trigger… an apparently massive and mysterious power.

So, what I’m saying is, what if Takara Nemu is one of Armumahel’s (the Emperor of Nothingness) nephilims? After all his eye…

image

was emphasized on specifically back when he “woke up”, the same way Shiemi’s eye…

image

was emphasized on in the last chapter.

TL;DR

  • Azazel has no nephilim alive so he has a random dude becoming the Grigori when needed
  • Shiemi’s family could be Shemihaza’s nephilims
    • with Shiemi’s mom as the current Grigori since her grandma’s death?
    • and Shiemi just learnt about that and resigned to the idea that she can’t choose a different future.
  • Takara Nemu could be one of Armumahel’s nephilims?
    • which would mean the current Grigori is his dad/grandfather/someone from his family?
    • and Nemu has to stay asleep otherwise he triggers a massive and destructive power?
  • And as always Mephisto is definitely aware of both their origins
    • that’s probably why Amaimon was spying on Shiemi in the last chapter
    • also Mephisto’s actual spy is probably not Takara himself but rather the puppet that can summon any spirits (I have no idea about what the puppet is though? a demon?)

Aaaaand that’s it. Feel free to leave your thoughts!

In Chapter 84, Shiemi’s mom said that if Shiemi still wanted to take the exam even after she told her the secret, she wouldn’t stop her. So I don’t think that Shiemi would be forced to take the Grigori’s place if her mother is indeed the Grigori in Shemihaza’s place. It is also reaffirmed in Chapter 87 when Shiemi told Izumo that is was HER decision. I really like your theory on Takara though! It seems very plausible!

Aaah, thank you for the reminder, I knew I had forgotten to mention something! xD

Right, so about Shiemi’s mom, without even starting by ch84, back in ch73 her mom told her…

image
image

There was a mention of Shiemi’s “future” again, as well as her mom emphasizing that it could be dangerous, but I’m pretty sure that her goal back then was maybe to scare her daughter, in order to still hide whatever it is she ended up having to tell Shiemi in ch84 when Shiemi still said she wanted to become an exorcist…

image
image

Anyway, keeping in mind that Shiemi being Shemihaza’s nephilim is just a theory, it’s because Shiemi was so motivated about becoming an exorcist that her mom ended up telling her something I’m sure she would have preferred avoiding…

image

And also it’s because Shiemi “got stronger” that her mom thought she could handle “that secret”.

That secret was her mom’s last resort to stop Shiemi from becoming an exorcist, so logically it should have to do with “being an exorcist” or with the True Cross Order or with something else possibly threatening Shiemi’s future besides being a part of the True Cross Order.

Just imagining that Shiemi is indeed Shemihaza’s nephilim for a short while: if her mom or someone else in the family (her grandma? but that’d mean she faked her death) is being Grigori!Shemihaza, obviously Shiemi is still free from any responsabilities and can currently do what she wants, but what about in 10/20 years?
What about her job as an exorcist then and her friends, comrades or future family?

By staying in the exorcist shop (”unreachable physically”, maybe as some sort of protection?), she’d remain isolated from the rest of the world, so it should probably be easier that way for her to maybe leave her life behind if she’s ever asked to become one of the Grigori.

You can even envision the idea that being a Grigori means knowing about all the Order’s dirty stuff (*cough*the Asylum and Section 13*cough*) without being able to do anything since the Order needs the Grigori so…  It’s a bit like Shura’s backstory => it’s a family curse, one that’s hard to break free from, since it’s not about a demon like in Shura’s case but about the whole Order.

And obviously it’s definitely Shiemi’s decision 🙂 Her mom told her that big secret and she…

image

…angsted about it for an entire night before deciding that she would indeed not become an exorcist.
Shiemi is a brave girl, she grew up a lot, she became strong and she wanted to “keep on living in this world” (ch84) and yet, after what her mom told her, she resigned and went back to isolating herself by choosing the exorcist shop (which is exactly like when we first met her)? There has to be a reason linked to the current arc and not something like “your dad died because of a demon”.

Don’t forget that Mephisto is the chessmaster and that Shiemi is one of his pawns like everyone else + this arc is heavily linked to the main plot and we’re starting to learn about the Order not being a paragon of ethics and virtue so… For now I’ll keep on thinking that whatever her mom told her has something to do with what we were told since the beginning of this arc 🙂

Thank you for your input, there is a high chance I’m completely wrong anyway, so we will see with future chapters but it’s just fun to debate about all this! 😀

Some thoughts about AnE 87

midnight-in-town:

‘Cause boi dat chapter…!

So there are two things I really wanted to write my thoughts on: it’s about Shiemi’s situation and “the traitor” Mephisto basically wants Lightning to sniff out (because Mephy doesn’t give out answers for free, haha).

Sorry in advance for the length, I just really am enjoying the current arc. 😀

  • About Shiemi

For some reason, getting an Izumo/Suguro/Shura arc always was mandatory in my head, but I never really thought Shiemi could get a personal arc and issues to focus on, which is rather surprising I know, considering that she’s the main girl. xD

The thing is, I’m actually super happy that she’s getting a personal arc even if I wasn’t expecting it, because it’s turning about to be 1000% plot related, on top of being extremely interesting because it also completely fits with her dynamic to Rin’s character and the slight awkward romance between them.

Anyway, while I initially thought two months ago that she might be one of Lucifer’s clones like Arthur (like a good part of the readers it seems), I’m not so sure about it anymore, especially because…

image

There obviously has to be a bigger/more complex reason explaining her new decision. Besides, as one of Rin’s closest friends, I find it hard to believe that learning that she was the clone of a demon king would really take away all of her motivation when she’s fine with Rin becoming an exorcist despite being Satan’s son.

Also considering that we’re not privy to what her mom told her but that it unsettled her greatly in the same chapter we were told about the Grigori…

image

…I just wouldn’t be surprised if she were in fact to have a link to them more than just to Section 13, and that actually brings me to…

image

Her eyes because they’re emphasized on in that one panel…

image

and I’m not sure but the sclera somehow looks as if split in two (?) and it kind of reminds me…

image

of Shemihaza because can you see the splitting cells in the center?
Besides, the plants and flowers we can see around Shemihaza (?) give off a very similar vibe to the ones

holding onto Shiemi on the chapter’s cover, just saying.

Lightning introduced to Bon the concept of the current Grigori being nephilims of these three (except for Azazel) in this chapter after all so… maybe Shiemi has something to do with them as well?
Knowing Mephisto, he’d know about something like that since Shiemi is one of his “pawns”, and maybe that’s even why…

image

…Amaimon was watching over her in this chapter.

I mean, initially it was easier to think that Shiemi facing Amaimon to defend Rin a few chapters ago was one way to end their “shared history together” xD
However it looks like he might actually have a proeminent role to play in her character arc, which is something I personally really appreciate because Amaimon is the King of Earth and Shiemi always had a particular link to plants and flowers in general.

…Without mentioning the Garden of Amahara possibly being brought back for Shiemi’s character arc if Amaimon (the King of Earth) interacts more with her, which overall makes for a very exciting development in my opinion. 🙂

I’m just… really happy Shiemi seems to be gaining an even bigger role fitting just right into the main plot, but the mystery around her origins is kinda killing me. xD

  • And about the “traitor” Mephisto and Lightning talked about

To be honest, this part of the chapter also was very interesting because it looks like for once that Mephisto really is clueless about an important plot point.

image

And after Takara and Shima, or even after how he didn’t have any shame calling everyone his pawns to their face, that’s really surprising because it means this traitor could be someone way more dangerous than anyone we’ve seen before.

To be honest though, it’s probably not that guy…

image

… because, sure he’s fishy, but that’s the thing, it’s way too easy to suspect him. xD

We’re talking about someone whom we’re probably not supposed to be wary of, so that the surprise effect can be similar to when Shima was revealed to be a (double) spy for the Illuminati.
…Speaking of Shima, does anyone remember this scene?

image

It’s been a long time and we still don’t know who Shima was talking about in that scene (because it’s not Toudou or Mephisto), but the fact the topic was so strongly avoided back then makes me think that this could be linked to our mysterious traitor.

Besides…

image

We still don’t know who Shima was talking to in that scene but it’s probably someone we should know by now, otherwise there was no need for the shadows + since there is still an unknown traitor on the Order’s side and that Shima met the person above in Mephisto’s Academy… Well, all in all it makes me think this person above could be the actual traitor.

In other words:

  • the traitor is someone of the Order with whom we’re very probably acquainted
  • s/he might be the one who approached Shima for the Illuminati
  • s/he might be the one Shima talked to after, um, messing with Yukio
  • s/he is helping Lucifer from within the Order
  • s/he is a real thorn in Mephisto’s side because he can’t figure him/her out

The following is just my personal (slightly crazy, I admit it) hypothesis but I spent some time thinking about it and…

image

…What if the traitor is none other than Angel himself?

Hey Anon, thanks for reading! 🙂 And good point about Shiemi’s house!

Maybe it is indeed a part of the answer.

Thanks for your thoughts Anon! 😀 And have a nice day.

image

…What if the traitor is none other than Angel himself?

(explanation under read more)

The thing is, just seeing Shima and Takara or even Shiemi (for whom I didn’t expect such a significant development), even the most random character of the series could turn out to be more than what they appeared to be and when it comes to Angel…

image

….the comic relief is especially strong in him, to the point of it being slightly ridiculous since he really is a very strong fighter as well as the most emblematic figure of the Order. Besides, I can’t help getting a dejà-vu feeling since Shima was also the comic relief type until Izumo’s arc.

As for some other possible hints…

  • we all know he is one of Lucifer’s clones
  • the amnesia excuse seems to be pretty convenient
  • he’s known to be quite hateful towards Mephisto (who’s really not in favor of Lucifer’s plan as we now all know)
  • he showed to be interested in Yukio (*cough*like Toudou and Lucifer*cough*)
  • Lightning, Shura and Mephisto don’t really take him seriously so it would be kinda “funny” if he had somehow found a way to outpass the Morinas contract when no one else did before
  • he’d make a fine antagonist for Rin’s development as Shiro’s “evil” successor but also because Rin wants to become Paladin
  • If I remember correctly Sensei said he was supposed to be important to the plot

So… ahem, let’s say that hypothetically…

image

Angel does remember but pretends he doesn’t, considering the rather… disturbing experiments he definitely went through at the Asylum, it wouldn’t be that strange to imagine that he grew up wanting revenge for everything that happened to him (and what better way than to help Illuminati deal with the Order if he wanted revenge against all of them?).

image

That could also explain his… distrust towards Mephisto in particular too, because it would be logical to assume that, if Lightning knew beforehand that the Grigori were originally from Gehenna, then as the Paladin Angel would at least know that as well. And yet he seems okay with “Azazel” when Azazel is literally Mephisto’s brother.

¯_(ツ)_/¯

Anyway, assuming that Angel is the most clueless character is not a mistake to make in my opinion, especially considering the previous examples of Shima and Takara in the story.
For me, since he’s always presented to be so naive when he’s supposed to be the strongest and most emblematic character of the entire Order, I wouldn’t be surprised if he were to be way more than that, especially with his past as one of the experimented kids from the Asylum.

We didn’t get the full story about the Blue Night yet, but Angel is one of the few who was there and we know it was a horrible event, so amnesia or not, Angel would have reasons to be resentful towards the Order anyway.
And besides, with Yukio under a Morinas contract as well, I just can’t believe that a way to avoid its consequences won’t ever be introduced.

I just think it would be quite amazing if “the most clueless character” were to be the one who was actually playing with everyone else right under Mephisto’s nose the whole time to be honest 🙂

Sorry this was so long but these are my thoughts so far. It will probably change with new content but feel free to leave some thoughts in the meantime if you want!
