Wait, do you really think that Akira is trying to get out of Seidou’s way?

linkspooky:

Remember, this is what Akira was doing when she got injured.

Yet the moment she wakes up she doesn’t even think to ask if he’s okay, if her sacrifice was at all successful?

This was Akira’s moment of growth, not whatever she said in front of Amon.

“I’m trying to repress my emotions for the sake of others, but I can’t.”

Akira’s not empty, she’s literally full to bursting with all kinds of emotions but she can’t deal with them. For her it’s better to be controlled by anger, or even empty.

The thing also is about Akira is that she will suppress them until they literally explode. We saw them explode and Seidou this time was the trigger, as both he and Amon were last time, and the time before that. After waking up, now that Seidou was removed from her Akira went right back to suppression.

To be blunt because it’s late, this happens with a lot of characters in Tokyo Ghoul. They don’t realize the importance of another unless that person is literally five feet in front of them, and the second they wander away they forget again. That’s basically Kaneki too, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

On a more complex note though, Seidou is basically a walking representation of all the problems that Akira has been made aware of but does not want to confront. The fact that all of her loved ones are ghouls, that she’s had an active role in hunting them, and that she’s spent a majority of her life trying to live up to the expectations of others doing something she in her heart didn’t really want to do.

It’s a purposeful irony that Akira does basically everything for the people she loves, including hunt ghouls, only to see all the people she loves turn into ghouls in front of her. It means he task is sisyphian, it’s never going to be accomplished because it was never supposed to be accomplished in the first place.

Not only does Seidou represent this unpleasant reality though, he actively confronts her. He is not a ghoul who would do everything for her sake just like Amon and Kaneki, perhaps when she is unconscious and not physically around him Seidou can pretend to act that way, but Seidou is a needy person. He wants validation, no demands it from her. Rather than a ghoul who would promise to seek the answers for her like Amon, Seidou would demand them from her.

When the trio finally reunited, Amon’s only mean of communication to Akira was to save her, after which he completely ignored her. It was Seidou who kept getting her involved in the conversation and wanted answers from her.

This is of course not to say anything about whether or not I think Amon or Seidou is healthier in their relationship to Akira, as both are varying degrees of unhealthy and it’s a pointless comparison. Rather is an elaboration on the reasoning why Akira would deliberately avoid Seidou right now.

He is in a way the ugliness of the ghoul world. The kind of enemy that Furuta motivates the public to hunt down. He’s not a group of children hugging Akira, or a selfless girl willing to hide her pain, or a coffee manager trying to relate the tragedy of their fathers. He’s a murderer who admits that, but also decided to keep living on anyway. It’s no wonder that Seidou is the one to discuss with Hakatori the problem of the Oggai, he’s come to represent them as a whole, obligate people eaters who even while knowing it’s wrong continue to still thrie and exist and the tragedies that lie within their lives.

I really want to hug Akira because her reassurance made Kaneki truly smiled for the first time after a long period. She still very much cares for him, but i guess Akira and Amon would be off-screen for sometimes now?

Hey Anon! And me too, I really wanted to hug both of them and I wish she could have hugged Kaneki instead of punching him :/ but you’re right, at least he smiled while crying and for once it felt more genuine than the few smiles we’ve seen ever since Arima’s death.

As for Akira and Amon, well, between…

Yes, I think they might not be seen for a while. Akira needs to find a new way of life by actually watching what the world really is about through newly opened eyes and nothing really tied Amon down to :Re either.

Obviously we’ll see them again, and I’m even hoping they’ll find Takizawa in the meantime, but Akira taking her own position towards the CCG and the rest of the ghoul world is something I always wanted her to do, so I’m sad to see them go but at the same I’m happy that they’re able to continue developing, even if outside of the readers’ eyes.

I’m missing them already ❤

Have a nice weekend Anon! 😀

Hey Anon 🙂 Thank you so much for reading and for the very nice words! ❤

About Seiaki, nope, I still don’t think we can say that it’s drowning because:

  • Takizawa’s feelings were made rather clear with ch115 and ch118, namely Akira and Amon are both very important to him, but being on a redemption part he believes he doesn’t have his place next to them, which is why he left in the first place
  • however his departure screams that we will see him again and that his personal character arc will have to get an ending, like him confronting Akira and Amon at least one more time for closure
  • As for Akira, well, she said it herself…
image

She still hasn’t made a clear distinction in her feelings for the two of them, so as far as I’m concerned I like both Akiramon and Seiaki, but Akira hasn’t said anything about being in love with Amon and it’s not because she kissed Amon that they’re now in an exclusive romantic relationship. At least not for me.

That kiss was definitely the start of something (and I loved this part) but the way I see it, it’s the start of their new partnership: they’re leaving to find their place in this unfair world, and as I was saying above, they might even meet Takizawa again.
So we will see Takizawa again for sure, if just because he needs to confront Akira and Amon in order to end his personal character arc. That’s what being on a redemption arc means.

image

Of course that doesn’t mean any promise of actual polyamory, but as long as Akira doesn’t clearly state what her feelings are for the two men (or just one of the two), that means there is still this need for Akira to confront Takizawa now that she could really talk with Amon.

Honestly, I’ve always been more of a Seiakiramon fan than just a Seiaki or Akiramon fan, if just because Seidou’s admiration for Amon is beautiful and Amon sees Seidou as someone he would have died to save, so as long as they haven’t all confronted each other or that Akira doesn’t clearly state that she has romantic feelings for Amon, I’m still all about Seiakiramon. :)))

I hope it helps Anon! Thanks again for the very nice words and please have a nice weekend! ^3^

You know, I’m really glad Maris Stella returns, she’s safe and sound and all. But, BUT, where is seiakiramon??? How long should we wait?

Hey Anon 🙂

Aaaah, I was very sad when Seidou left, even if the promise of an Akiramon talk in the next chapter made me really happy. Also I’m very glad to see Maris Stella again, I missed her :3

However when it comes to Seiakiramon, for now, it’s definitely on hold 🙂 with probably a major akiramon breakthrough in chapters to come, since this little arc seems to focus on Akira’s character development, amongst other things. Anyway, I’m still sad, because…

…Even though we know he has all these feelings about both Akira and Amon, he considers that bringing Amon home to Akira was what he had to do and so now he’s leaving.

It’s Seidou we’re talking about, so no matter how tsundere he can get, we know he leaves because he feels he doesn’t belong with Amon and Akira because of all the crimes he committed. :/ That’s still the redemption path for his character development, so it’s not that surprising as a plot twist even if I would have loved to have him stay. :/

Well, at least we can be sure that he’ll be back…

So that’s already something, and hopefully he’ll really face Amon and Akira properly next time. :3

Let’s focus on the Akiramon talk next Anon-chan! It seems very promising and I can’t wait :3

Have a nice weekend!

I’ve seen a lot of people saying that this chapter is basically confirming that Akiramon is endgame, because there are many parallels with TouKen. But I’ve been wondering: Why did Akira say that she loved both of them, when Ishida ‘obviously’ tried to show that Akiramon is endgame? Because… if that is what Ishida truly wanted… why would he give us so much insight to Seidou’s feelings when there was no need for since Akiramon is the obvious pairing? I hope you understand what I mean. :D

Hey Anon!

Um, I don’t think the last chapter was a confirmation that Akiramon is endgame though?

The talk with Touka certainly made Amon’s feelings clear (which was necessary since we hardly ever got any real hint about possible romantic feelings towards Akira in :Re before)…

image

…just like ch115 made Seidou’s feelings clear….

image
image

But Akira might have her word to say about her own feelings, don’t you think? 😉 And the last time she brought it up, she said…

image

So for now, since she protected Seidou during the Rushima arc out of pure feelings alone, it’s still Seiakiramon that goes for me. :3

As I was saying, making Amon’s feelings clear when it comes to romantic subtones in his relationship with Akira was important because Seidou’s feelings were made clear in a similar way two chapters ago. So there still is a balance between the two relationships, for now neither prevails and Akira’s feelings don’t seem to favor any in particular. For now at least (obviously it could change later, we’ll see).

Just see it like that, starting from the Rushima arc:

  • Seidou -> attacks Akira
  • Amon -> protects Akira
  • Amon -> also wants to go back with Seidou and Kurona + helps Seidou
  • Akira -> protects Seidou from Mutsuki
  • Seidou -> gets Akira away from the island and the CCG
  • also Seidou -> goes to the lab to bring the medicine back + bring Amon home
  • Ishida -> make Seidou’s feelings clear in ch115
  • Also Ishida -> make Amon’s feelings as well in ch117.

TL;DR both men admitted clealy to their feelings but Akira has yet to explain with words how she feels about them => the balance between our trio still holds.

Please don’t use the shortcut “Amon is more of a knight in shining armor because he didn’t lose himself, even after what Aogiri did to him, so Akira is obviously gonna end up with him”, especially not since Seidou proved recently that he was a great man too. 🙂

I hope it helps! Have a nice day/evening Anon!

Acchan!!! What do you think about Amon and Touka’s talk!?????!!!?

Hey Anon! Ah, well, so many things happened in just one talk somehow but since it’s linked to the rest of the chapter, it’s hard to speak about just that. xD

I mean, when I initially read the chapter, I hadn’t slept in 24+ hours so in my head that was ‘lmao Amon/Touka + Akira/Kaneki wut” (+ Ayato/Hinami of course) but then I took a short nap before rereading it again and… Amon’s and Touka’s respective feelings are mainly what you conclude on when it comes to this talk

(I insist that it doesn’t have to be seen as romantic even if it might be).

image
image

Anyway, I’ll try to avoid rambling but, aside from what I already reblogged on the subject, clearly their talk indicates that we’re hopefully going to have a mini-arc centering around people talking:

  • Amon/Kaneki, which apparently was offscreened (?)
  • Amon/Touka which just happened -> Mado’s death is “solved” from Amon’s point of view
  • Akira/Kaneki which got delayed because Akira has a few understandable issues with her current situation but I think they should talk again later (again they have a deep emotional link + I don’t think Kaneki actually told her that he killed Arima but just that they fought, what’s the point of lying to her about this, especially when she’s not a ghoul?).
  • Akira/Amon (and maybe Akira/Seidou, if Seidou is anywhere to be found?) -> as Touka urged Amon to do
  • Akira/Hinami, as Hirako explained.
  • Akira/Touka, because Touka wants to + that’s important for Akira’s character development
  • maybe more Hinami/Ayato talking since Ayato is the one Hinami seeks comfort from for this situation?
  • Kaneki/Hinami and/or Hinami/Touka talking? Hinami doesn’t want to bother Kaneki about Akira because she’s important to him, but she has the right to tell someone besides Ayato about not feeling okay about this situation.
  • Kaneki/Touka at last, but probably once the matter with Akira will be solved (?)

So I’m personally very excited about that “mini-arc” and I hope they all get to talk 😀 Besides that though…

image

I’m 2000% proud of Touka at this part, because remember when she actually killed Kureo? Honestly, I knew she’d have to talk about it with Akira one day, but I wasn’t expecting her to want such a talk.

She grew up so much, I’m so proud of her! And also….

image

Amon had the coolest moment of the whole chapter and I’m proud of him too ❤ I’m really glad that the two of them actually met up before this moment and that they manage to have such a good and positive relationship.

I think that’s about it Anon, but I love the entire chapter actually, so I’m really happy right now! ^_^

I hope it answers your question, have a nice weekend! 😀

In the event that your OT3 (Takizawa, Amon, Akira) in Tokyo Ghoul doesn’t work out, and one pairing is chosen over another, which pairing would you prefer to see chosen given the character building, established context, and possible relationship direction? Why?

Hey Anon and lmao, I love the way you’re asking this, it reminds me of questions I get in exams, except the subject is science not shipping, but somehow it sounds the same xD

Okay so, this is all my personal opinion and I’d really rather have a polyamory situation over either just Amon/Akira or Seidou/Akira, but since you’re asking me which one I’d like to see… As of right now in :Re, I’d say Seiaki. 🙂

As for why, it’s basically because Seidou’s feelings for Akria ever since TG always appeared to be more defined than Amon’s.

(full explanation under read more :))

By that I mean that Amon wanted to be a good superior to Akira and she

definitely

was important to him, but possible romance from his point of view was less hinted at in TG than in Seidou’s case, because Amon couldn’t help but still remember Harima, for whom he most likely had feelings (TG ch111).

image

Not to say that they didn’t have any sweet moment, because they did, but it was too new and unsure to be called romance in my opinion, and the Anteiku raid arc didn’t help since it separated them until the Rushima arc.

Meanwhile Seidou was holding a grudge against Akira this whole time due to his inferiority complex but which was actually hiding a big crush ever since their Academy days.

As for :Re, well… where we are right now, it’s exactly the same as in TG: we didn’t get a lot of insight into Amon’s mind, be it about this subject or about any other subject really :/ while Seidou’s feelings for Akira were emphasized on even more, from the auction arc to recently with ch115 when he declared wanting to live for her sake

Don’t get me wrong, Amon protected her on Rushima and he obviously cares about her, but so far, I didn’t see any difference between his will to protect Akira and his desire to also protect Kurona and Seidou which… makes a difference with Seidou’s situation, since he can say things like “wanting to live the rest of his life for [Akira]’s sake”.

To be honest though, I think this goes with my criticism of Amon’s character development so far in :Re because… for now he didn’t really get any.
Amon’s one of my favorite characters and I know he wasn’t shown a lot in :Re, but when I read about him, I feel like everything that happened within the last 4 years barely changed him: he’s still an amazing guy with an outstanding morality, but I already knew that with TG.

image

And in fact, this panel can summarize all that we learnt about Amon in :Re. Meanwhile, Seidou went from crazy murdering OEG at the beginning of :Re to changing sides during the last arc and he is now currently on a redemption path (thus gaining even more development).

Really, I love both characters, but I’m happier about Seidou’s development when compared to Amon’s, even if I know Amon technically just came back into the story and we need more time to really delve into his character.

So you know, I say all that, but anyway I still think that the Seiaki and Akiramon ships have a balance thanks to the amazing relationship that Seidou and Amon also have…

image
image

…and besides, Akira doesn’t know (yet?) what happened to Amon and Seidou after Rushima, so since I believe Amon’s character still needs development (or at least that we should be allowed more often into his head), maybe there still is a long way to go before romance can work out between these three. 🙂

TL;DR as of right now:

  1. Seiakiramon
  2. Seiaki
  3. Akiramon

As it matters, it’s up to the characters’ choice anyway. 🙂

I hope it answers your question, have a nice day/evening Anon!

Do you think the SeiAki-ship went (a little) down with this chapter?

Hey Anon 🙂 And I don’t know, you tell me…

image
image
image

After such a chapter…

image
image

with Seidou deciding that he now wants to live for the sake of Akira, which is basically confessing to being completely in love with her (and which is why he definitely intends on bringing Amon home to her), I really wonder if you can say that this ship went down. 😉

More seriously though, if you’re asking because Seidou thinks Akira is in love with Amon then I’ll just say one thing…

image
image

‘Cause Seidou proved to us readers that he definitely grew up but yes, somehow he still thinks that there is no way Akira could like him, especially after everything he’s done as a ghoul (he doesn’t see himself as an investigator anymore, as this chapter confirmed).

See, this is Takizawa talking about Amon in the new chapter…

image

And this is him talking about himself:

image

which means that for Seidou, Amon >> himself, so Amon is more worthy of Akira + “Akira would always look at him anyway”… So, “it’s okay”, Seidou can agree to this situation, he’ll live for Akira’s sake even though she’s obviously going to choose Amon at the end………….

But Anon, the thing is, Seidou isn’t in Akira’s head

image

So he never noticed that Akira looked at him as much as she looked at Amon, even if she felt like he had a grudge against her, just like she would smile at him too, even if he didn’t see that either.

image
image

And she endangered herself to protect him from Mutsuki in the last arc, which is also a huge proof that he isn’t someone random in her life.

image

Finally, Seidou still sees Amon as a true investigator while he became nothing but a killing ghoul…

image

but, Amon aside…

image

Akira probably won’t be able to call herself a ghoul investigator anymore so… it surely doesn’t matter if Seidou isn’t an investigator either. 🙂

This is a redemption arc for Seidou, he’s trying to make amends for all the people he killed so there is no way he’d just accept Akira’s love since he doesn’t believe he deserves it after everything that he did.

We’re passed the inferiority complex, it’s not that he sees himself as a failure inferior to Amon, but he doesn’t want to “taint” Akira because he loves her, which is why he’ll simply live for her sake while she’ll be happy with someone who didn’t dirty their hands as much as Seidou did (aka Amon in Seidou’s opinion).

Except that, again, Akira’s feelings are probably different from what Seidou currently imagines.

TL;DR Anon, Seiakiramon is true love ❤ and both Seiaki and Akiramon still rock because no ship went down in this chapter, on the contrary! 😀

Thanks for passing by and have a nice weekend Anon!

image

See just above Anon-chan 😀 😀 ❤

Have a nice weekend!

Yay! You opened your askbox again! I wanted to write you I read your meta about Akira, Seidou, Amon and I liked it very much! It summed up everything. I wanted to add that we should also consider the fact Akira has probably had very little experience with men. She is described by Seidou as cold and a robot and I think that with her behaviour and talent she keptpossible partners away. She also tells Amon the cat he gave her was the first gifth she received from a man. I think that Amon cont.

was one of the first men she was able to open up to and that may also explain why she was so bold to try and kiss him despite the situation and all the complications between them. In short I think she (as probably Amon and Seidou as well) is very inexperienced in the romance department and that’s also why her (and their) behaviors can be seen as somehow strange or contradictory.

Hey Anon! Awww, thank you for sticking around and reading :3 and sorry for the inconvenience. :/ The anon mode might be a bit of an irregular thing for weeks/months to come depending on my studies since I really have a lot of work…

Anyway 😀 I believe you’re totally right, Amon, Akira and Seidou don’t exactly have the most experience in the romance department haha (they were younger <3), so that’s probably why things were so complicated between them, on top of Amon feeling guilty about Akira’s dad (+ wanting to be a good superior), Akira mourning Kureo and Seidou’s inferiority complex.

About Seidou describing Akira with mean words though…

image

I’m certain that was the jealousy and frustration talking seeing as she had just joined the 20th ward team, especially since he showed the biggest crush afterwards and…

image

…we know Akira just never was that cold but she probably never knew how to talk to him since she could see he had a grudge.

That being said, Akira was younger and fully mourning her dad in TG, so obviously her being seen as cold (something she was criticized for a lot by fans until even the last arc) had a lot to do with this. I believe she learnt how to open up to people with Haise…

image
image

And she, Seidou and Amon already showed more maturity in the last arc, despite the chaotic situation they found themselves into, so we’re on the good path here. ^^

I mean look at Seidou…

image

He dropped the tsundere act (”she’s just a hostage, I’m not trying to save her”) rather quickly, haha, and it’s all thanks to Amon and Akira!

I hope we’ll get more moments with the three of them (whenever Amon is back -_-) because they’re real cute dorks. :3

Thanks for sharing your thoughts Anon, for reading and for the very nice words too! ^^ I hope you’ll have a nice weekend!
