Ghoulism is a parasite

kanekikenunot:

So this chapter was really really cool, and it gave a lot of information about ghouls, but not through a huge dialogue, but through the artwork. One of the major things that @coromoor pointed out is that even though Kaneki has been eating a lot of people the oggai, and humans he still hasn’t healed from his fight with Juuzou.

That and the fact and the dragon refused to let go of him, reminded me of the typical parasite behavior. That it forces it’s host to eat, but it takes all the nutrients from the host weakening them, and even killing them. That spurred me on to thinking about all the other situation with ghouls, some of which came with this chapter.

One of the things that has become apparent is that Kagune has sentience, one of which we learned from both Eto and Kaneki’s Kagune speaking.

Not, only that but through Kaneki not remember his fight with Juuzou once he went into his kakuja form, and from displays of insanity that displaying a Kakuja is takes over it’s host body. One of the best examples of this is seen through Arata, and the arata armor, which main issue and safety hazard is it tries to eat the person wearing it.

Then their is the ROS disease, which from Shirazu’s sister we see that it creates a kagune like organ from the skin. Which has reduced her to not even being able to speak or move completely taking over her body.

Then, there is the the fact that normal humans are becoming ghouls as shown in this chapter

These two people were featured in the panel when Kaneki first emerged on Tokyo. When he emerged anyone who he came close to and didn’t kill in that moment had become ghouls. I remember that I made jokes about Kaneki looking like a mushroom that was procreating, when he released the kagune monsters.

RC cells have been shown to be able to create like perfect models of people through Uta, and even monsters through Kaneki. It’s not unbelievable that a the RC cells could form a Kakahou in a person and alter a person. It’s possible that he could have been sending out immense amounts of RC cells into the air, which would explain that those that came into close contact with him.

Especially with Rize, coming out of something that looks suspiciously like a cordycep.

It seems like Kaneki was just a test to see what would happen if you released a dragon, and it looks like Rize has a wider berth than Kaneki did. So we are gonna be seeing a lot more of humans gone ghoul, who have a hunger they don’t know how to control. I just can’t wait to learn more about how ghoul biology works because as of now it’s very parasitic.

I know I have 10+ answers to write now that the chapter is out, but I just wanted to say that this is the whole point of the current arc, the 2CT and Ciel facing his brother in my opinion, because it will mean finally confronting the survivor’s guilt and inferiority complex that have been holding Ciel back from developing much further.

Initially, it’s a decision that was taken to become the Ciel his brother wanted to be (& I don’t doubt that he really meant it to be that way), but over the years this issue just turned out to be about who the current “Ciel Phantomhive” really is.

We’ve been introduced to the idea a while ago that our!Ciel was “different” from the rest of his family (and thus from his brother)…

image

mostly in the sense that he’s more selfless and @her-majestys-watchdog did a great job in giving some examples here.

And the thing is, until now our!Ciel is probably the only one who never wanted to acknowledge that fact (because of survivor’s guilt and inferiority complex) despite everyone else around him having noticed a long time ago…

image

and that’s why this upcoming confrontation is significant because this mentality is something that needs to change.

Elizabeth didn’t fall in love with him because he was called “Ciel Phantomhive”, Soma didn’t become his friend because of that either, and let’s not mention Tanaka who kept his mouth shut probably because he thought Ciel had his reasons and he didn’t want to address a very painful and traumatizing topic.

Besides, I have no doubt that Ciel Phantomhive will remain his identity until the very end, but by now it needs to become a choice made because he wants to keep it and not because he thinks he still has to pretend doing all of this in his brother’s stead.

The twins’ confrontation is symbolically a chess game onto which Ciel walked in ch129…

image

but that duality within him (his inferiority complex mixed to survivor’s guilt pushing him to think he had to become his brother when, in fact, he acts and thinks differently from his brother most of the time because he’s his own person) has been existing for a long time…

image

and that’s why it finally needs to be addressed in the current arc.

coromoor:

so I guess Rc cells from Dragon are coming into contact with humans (airborne cells being inhaled perhaps?) and since they are capable of seeding and spreading throughout the body, this is how they’re creating new ghouls? If Donato can create an entire clone body from his pinky finger then a single Rc cell has the potential to multiply and form a kakuhou organ, Rc pathways, etc.

@coromoor Yes this is what I’m thinking too. The fact that those cells are actually pluripotent…

image

is probably why the humans don’t end up with a ROS condition like Shirazu’s sister but in fact become ghouls because those special Rc cells lead to the formation of a kakuhou organ (as well as Rc pathways).

I also stand by my theory that Donato probably got his own cloning abilities from Uta (I was considering kagune graft back then, like what apparently happened between Karren and Eto, but maybe it was an airborne process too), which would explain why they’re both able to recreate an entire body from almost nothing, especially since Donato couldn’t create a clone of himself to escape the CCG 18 years ago.

Finally @wishes-upon-dreams pointed out that those humanoid clones didn’t disappear along with Kaneki’s huge kakuja, so I wonder if this doesn’t also explain how the 24th ward got partially populated, besides humans from 100 years ago being turned into ghouls of course.

So Dragon is turning humans into ghouls?

image

since that person seems surprised by their kakugan

image

and this person twisting flesh and surrounded by bones was seen in chapter 145 before Dragon rampaged through Tokyo, sleeping with the person they ate???

@paradoxhamartia replied to your post

“So Dragon is turning humans into ghouls? since that person seems…”

So, is that why the underground babies told Ayato that they were humans? Did the first oek turned them into ghouls?

holy shit, you’re so right!!

when the previous OEK created a Dragon in the Underground Tokyo, it must have turned humans into ghouls just like it is now!

Saiko has Kaneki’s kakuhou confirmed!!! [x]

the two kagune exploded when close to each other, just like it happened for Amon and Seidou back in ch114/ch115 and they were both grafted with Yoshimura’s kakuhou themselves.

image

Hi! No worries Anon, your English is perfect 😀

Actually it doesn’t mean much as it is, it’s just that it was a theory that many in the fandom

had

for a while

image

and now it seems it’s confirmed that Saiko’s Qs surgery was done using Kaneki’s (or maybe Rize’s) kakuhou.

Otherwise, it also seems to imply that if two absolutely similar kagune (as in, kagune produced by copies of the same kakuhou grafted in different individuals, like Amon and Takizawa as another example) face off…

image
image
image

&

then it goes boom

The how and why aren’t clear yet for me right now (I’m thinking maybe it’s some sort of strong cell attraction or repulsion between similar cells and, when they collide or that the repulsion force becomes too overwhelming for them, it liberates enough energy to create an explosion), but I don’t doubt that other fans may come up with something that makes more sense, before Sensei explains why it all means. 🙂

I hope it helps, have a nice day Anon!

Anon-chan, blood types were never confirmed to have anything to do with whether or not a kakuhou graft would be successful. :3

It’s also something people theorized about for years because Rize and Kaneki were both AB types, but for now, there is no correlation as far as we know, so it doesn’t matter whatever Saiko’s blood type is. 🙂

I hope it helps, have a nice day :))

Kanou said himself it doesn’t ;D

Thanks @mawjaw!! I hope you see this Anon and @vonless too!

Oh hey speaking of Uta’s tattoos

image

I’ve seen a lot of stuff about the obvious dragons and kitsune but I don’t recall seeing anything about the phoenix nestled in there too.

They’re the dragon’s counterpart in feng shui symbolism

image

I wonder who the phoenix could possibly be >:)c

@mawjaw sorry, reblogging again, I’m totally in love with the Touka = Uta’s phoenix tattoo theory, especially since I found proof that

the double headed snake of Uta’s tattoo

image

is very probably supposed to hint at Kaneki & Rize indeed…

image

…thanks to that infinity/eight pattern on the Oggai but also on Saiko’s mask made by Uta that @hamliet reminded me of earlier last week.

Seriously I wish I could hate Uta for knowing everything and having represented the whole story in his tattoo set but… I’m afraid I can’t help loving him even more.

Ahhh true true!

Circle’s are also a reoccuring theme across the more ~mysterious~ characters, like the 24th warders and Noro!

AHHHHHH @mawjaw I almost forgot, this is killing me, the three freaking dots/circles thanks for reminding me…

image
image

I really hope I’m seeing things here because otherwise I want to know if literally similar events happened 100 years ago or if Uta is just able to know everything because he’s a huge troll.

sensei biology arc or answers i don’t care just stop teasing us like that !!!

From the moment Furuta referred to Dragon as his “ally”, I guess we definitely should have considered Rize since he was in love with her and she had 100 kids for him.

It’s like “Eto is the OEK” all over again until she dropped the bomb herself that she wasn’t.

Gosh, I love Sensei for constantly proving us wrong. xDD
