Cor-chan, sorry to bother! I was thinking about this last night, do you think that the whole Rrc and Trc thing we saw in the last chapter could have to do with allosteric regulation? Of course that’d mean that what was measured was enzymes but in that case R and T would be the conformation « tensed » or « relaxed » with the R conformation allowing a binding with whatever substrate more easily than the T form (which would explain why there are far more Rrc than Trc). 1/2

coromoor:

IDK ever since Mutsuki’s Rc count at 3 I can’t help but wonder if what matters isn’t an always high Rc count but rather the ability of these Rc cells to multiply fast when necessary. In that case maybe the Rrc and Trc from the new chapter make sense as two different conformations that would promote or rather slow the Rc cells assembling into a huge kagune or kakuja. Ehhh sorry to bother you with that. Not being English, I kinda have some issues with explaining bio stuff sometimes ^^“ 2/2

Ahh I’ve been trying to think of what these terms could mean all week but we don’t have any clues at all.. but you might be right! That could definitely be the sort of terms they describe!

Usually I would say I don’t think it would be the same as enzymes with different binding affinities since cells don’t have a particular substrate in that way but since it’s fiction *shrugs* it could definitely be loosely based off that, especially since we already know that Rc cells have different ways they attach and interact with each other and this is why we have different kagune types

so perhaps this is a measure of their activity state or their ability to “weave” together into a strucure- how many Rc cells are highly active, how many are lowkey active and how many are inactive. Which is how Mucchan was able to go under the radar with having a count of 3 parts per volume Rc cells.

Whatever it is, it told the researchers that the kagune was changing states

So the ratio of those numbers must be some measure of the Rc cell state. I’d be guessing it would be close to stem cells going into a dormant state.

Any thoughts/predictions on Armin post time skip? XD

lindowyn:

At any given moment my SnK thoughts are about Armin as he’s my fave, so naturally I have thoughts. Predictions? Not so much.

4 years is a really long time for a story like this where so much can happen in the space of a month that making predictions are more like taking potshots with a musket in the dark.

So here is what I vaguely think:
Appearance-wise, this boy may take his bowl cut to the grave. And I mean it’s not really a bowl cut, it’s basically Mikasa’s do with a trimmed fringe. I remember an interview, distantly in the mists of my brain that said if he’d wanted to change it he had opportunity to by now but it suits him fine. I think the only thing that might convince him away from blonde coconut-dome is if he had been given rank and felt he need to make a change. The others all kindof let their hair do what it wanted to do and grow it out, and as silly as it is he may have chosen to do the opposite. Hair cutting is a big deal in some Asian cultures (and others, but our author is Japanese) as meaning a new beginning or reinvention of someone or marking a grievous loss of self or another. It’s possible he felt this was appropriate after his new lease on life following the serum bowl fiasco and everyone’s expectations of him being Erwin-high and Higher. Personally and for no other reason, I vote longer hair.

Attitude-wise: I believe he and Hanji worked together to organize Eren’s retrieval, for sure, but I don’t know if he approved of Eren’s mission ( I doubt it). I can’t imagine the kid barfing his stomach against a tree for killing that mp in defense of Jean’s life going “you know what, innocent people are acceptable losses” but also…I can’t pretend that Flocke’s words haven’t settled into him like a gd plague. Or Hanji’s. He’s always been sensitive to his perception of worthlessness, casual suggestions that he die, the words of bullies, etc. I think he perceives his life as no longer being his, that he’d given it up in Shiganshina to defeat the colossal. I can see him pulling in and functioning as a war machine if he felt he had to: to keep the SC assured that he was still a good option for revival, that he is worth something to the SC more than simply being Eremika’s friend (Even Erwin Smith knows he is). They put a fuckton of pressure on him not only to be AS GOOD AS Erwin but to surpass him also. Hell, I’d love so much for him to reappear as the Armin we know and love, but the reality is that from here out, he is only allowed to Shine under pressure. I just don’t think that’s what we’ll be getting. It honestly depends on how he’s integrating the pressure he received. 4 years is such a long time. And he’s always had that darker sense of humor; I just hope he hasn’t become that dictator character the fandom fears because of that whole Araki/Isayama interview. Will he pull a full reversal of his character? Probably not. I cannot imagine his friends letting him do that without stressing the importance of his own ideas.

But then, I know of past friends who are *complete* strangers now. People do change. I just hope whatever plan he has was a bit more elegant than “Eren Smash Theater, Leave Bad Review”, and he’s ready to deal with the worldwide repercussions intelligently. Regardless, I have hope for that.

I see this youtuber explain that ishida make a mistake in retconing the symptom of Ros .When the doctor checking on the people turning in to ghoul and they see it as symptom of Ros. Do you think this is true ?

Hello Anon! Sorry, I’m never on youtube, but I kinda have to admit that, presented like that, a reader calling out Sensei for “making a mistake” about his own story on something that wasn’t completely explained yet feels like a joke?

So, I don’t know maybe watch out for things they say in general there, ‘cause Sensei is definitely the only one who knows how things work in TG.

Anyway, this is ROS disease…

image

…in other words, they’re humans with a too elevated Rc cells rate (similar to ghouls’) but who don’t have a kakuhou to regulate that high rate (unlike ghouls) which leads to something that resembles a kagune bursting out of their body.

So if doctors in TG qualify the following as symptoms of something similar to ROS disease…

image

…I’d say they know better than all of us.

In my opinion, if those patients turn out to have developed a kakuhou (like the humans-turned-ghouls we saw in the last chapter), then they’ll most likely be able to regulate their elevating rate of Rc cells and they’ll become ghouls.
If not, then they’ll end up like Haru, Shirazu’s sister.

ROS is a disease in which basically a human is almost turning into a ghoul, except that they’re most likely missing the kakuhou organ, which is why they end up suffering because they can’t regulate their elevated rates of Rc cells.

Anyway, I don’t know what that person over on youtube said, but I doubt Sensei “made a mistake” lmao. xD

I hope it helps Anon! Have a nice day. 🙂
