By the by, when Kaneki says he has the “last” job to do, he says  「最期」, which literally means “end of life”. He does not expect to live past whatever it is he wants to do. Which is why he reacts that way to Eto asking him to kill the OEK, since obviously Kaneki himself is going to die, so if he’s the OEK it’s a pointless request; and if he’s not the OEK it’s doubly weird since dying would make it hard to kill anyone.
